I knew there was a barn under there somewhere from the original farm. Found it !! I knew there were roads and where they entered the water but didn't know what they did from there. These were dirt roads so not much of a big deal. The rivers and creeks that were there before are still there (exits and entries, just never knew how they all connected. Pretty much everything there we knew about but now we have the exacts and a visual. Just plain opld good stuff!! If you go to the info desk, just ask where the archive of maps is. There are lots of maps in books there but what I found to be the best were the hanging maps. There is a reference book and you look up your lake. Mine had about 20 hits. Some are just surveys that someone had to do to build and some are just old maps, but they are all in a map hanger. The reference book gives the name with a corresponding map number. slide your finger to that number and pull out the map. This is a better pic showing eric holding one up. They are in plastic sleeves with a hard plastic binder that has a number and a corresponding slot.

Yesterday my buddy and I went to city hall and dug around in the map archive. I was told that the reservoir we fish used to be an old farm pond with roads and rivers all around it. Now I've fished this place for the last 25 yrs. I know it,....VERY well. I wanted to see if there were old land surveys or maps from the 1800's when the reservoir system in RI was developed. Pay dirt. These maps may not mean much to you but if you know the area, I now have maps where it shows exactly what was there before. In one, you'll notice all the plottings, telling you where it was boggy, meadow, steep slope, etc. you can see where the roads and rivers were before they flooded it. Awesome stuff. I also found an aerial map from what must have been the first plane ever! 1900-1915 somewhere in there I think, it was a shot done in the middle of flooding it. this is the first map drawn of the lake after being flooded, circa 1920 old plottings And an aerial before the land was flooded.

roger- also aim for steep drops with a flat on one side and deep water on the other. Fish the tranition and find the sweet spot then key on it.

I would suggest one of the old Benzi boxes. It's a box that mounts in vehicle and stereo is removed when not in use. You can take headunit with you like your other electronics. The box is easier to build support around. (great point by the way, boats pound up and down alot more than cars do) Mykey- Also ran SQL class, car has 4 12's with 2 being switchable for SQ. Car has a PB of 143.8db(mic on dash, windows shut) Pretty impressive for a primarily SQ set-up (3300 watts will be 3300 watts, no matter how clean,lol)

Basser- real estate in RI is somewhat reasonable. Are there any other states that don't let you fish at night? Our public parks close 1 hr after sunset but all the other bodies of water are free game,...thank god

Great post Peter. way off -topic but everyone please be patient with our international members. Vyron has some great input, we just need to bear with him. If anything, this probably helps folks with their English by forcing them to use the language so let's just help them out.

I've seen more than one of those motors ruin peoples day. They came on the Bayliner "trophy" series, but after a year or so, both the motor and especially the particle board based boat, fell apart. Well known around here as.....Junk!! Beware and god luck.

Yes, you can cut fiiberglass to mount headunit but be sure you can successfully a. fit the headunit as far as "depth" goes b. Make sure all wires will have a way of getting from batt,speakers to headunit. Speakers can be mounted anywhere that they have the depth to fit. Most car audio speakers work on a "free air" system nowadays except for competition stuff so standard speakers will fiy anywhere. The place where your heels would hit the base of your seat is a good mounting location provided there is depth. Have you wired a raio before? Next time your boat is on the trailer, swing it by your local car audio shop and ask the guys for some suggestions for mounting locations. They may just blow your mind with some of the things they can come up with. I was in the car audio install scene for a few years. Made it to the nationals in the "sound quality" class. We've done projects that can seem crazy. My buddy "Fishman" is the national GURU of fiberglass installs actually loaded up a jet ski with audio for MB Quartz audio as a show item. Terrible sound, no chamber but just shows you that you can put the stuff anywhere. If you find you are having trouble you can a. go to www.sounddomain.com and register in forum. This is a trick question but an easy one just the same. The ones who is smiling the most.

I would expect my guide to "be like Mike" Put perfectly. I almost EXPECT them to fish. It's part of teaching which is what I'm paying him for. There is a point though,....I don't expect him to back door me on key areas. Also, with this take on the whole thing, I am the customer, If I ask the guide to put the rods down, I'm sure he will. Not rudely of course, just saying that if we come to a new cove, similar to the ones we've been catching in, I may say,.."could you do me a favor and just coach me through this cove?" I expect him to jump right into coach mode. In short, the guide should be what you need him to be, but communication with your guide prior to the trip will set these points straight before gameday.

Tarpon is jumping right in front of camera and big daddy is just holdin' on tight, lookin sharp in his milk white skivvies!! God rest his soul,...now THAT was a salty man if ever I knew one.

I also believe a good guide can adapt to the many different types of customers he/she gets. For example, our guide was explaining to me how he is from the east arm of Fork and we are staying in the west arm but the people who are with him the week before we get there are more or less just there to learn bass fishing whereas we want the fish of a lifetime so what he is doing is fishing the west arm with them before we get there so he is dialed in to his east arm spots when we get there so we will learn waters closer to home for us as we will have the rest of the week there.

That's $4 you wouldn't have if you shopped elsewhere. Encourages you to buy from them as opposed to other equal sites. If you buy 2 st croix rods , are you gonna get them at basspro for $400 and get a free reel cover and lure wrap or buy from cabelas for $400 and get just the rods? Doesn't make much difference if you're looking to buy $20-30 worth of tackle but if Shimano Stella's are your weapon of choice and you need 6 of them,.....it adds up.

There is an underlying huge point in George's post. Even guides hire guides.

That's kind of where we stand. We are confident in our abilities but we are spending too much money and travelling too far to take the chance, spawn or not. For the $75/guy , it's a good investment I think. I may think otherwise when I get back but for now, I'm not taking chances.

As far as stability goes, anything 12 or up is fine, especially a 14 but with your size, I would consider Fluke's suggestions strictly on the basis of room. Stability won't be an issue for you, but storage and casting space might be.
