Best and hardest fight you EVER had with a fish?
Bluefin Tuna. Fighting it out of the bow rod holder. When we got on top of her, she sounded, motor came right out of the water. Same season, we had a fish take us on a sleigh ride (was hooked up on one of the smaller reels) (Penn International 80) She had us towing on a collision course with my friend Sandy's boat who was also off on a sleigh ride. I made the call to push the pin,...locked it down. She straightened the hook like it was tin.

Leak In My Jon Boat
I was also thinking about carpet. Do you know How I would go about that? There isn't much room to put a platform in the boat I also don't want to add extra weight. Can I put carpet directly on the aluminum? No. You build floorboards like on mine and carpet those. Make them so they can be lifted out for cleaning. Seal the wood before gluing the carpet to it. (urethane is fine) Carpet can be bought at Lowes or Home depot. indoor/outdoor rubber backed. Hull looks good,...getting there!

Your Story for Fishing 2008
Many great moments for '08. -I got to meet a few new members, some good ones in the mix that I'm sure will be friends for many years to come -CAST For Kids has seen a growth spurt that is a direct result of YOU GUYS! We are now firmly established in the east and are now also placing BR members as hosts in other parts of the country as well. The people I've met, the places I've seen and the inspiration that has touched me, will probably never be topped in my lifetime. It's understandable, I work with angels. Literally. -RI became VERY strongly represented here on BR. Biggest little state there ever was! -Got to be a guest on Lunkerville and BassFeed -Quit cigarettes but grew a new addiction WAKE BAITS!!!!! -changed jobs at UPS, now I go in @ 2am and I'm out by 11. I can fish 7 days/week if I choose to. -Broke 2 rods catching first 2 wake bait fish. Very rookie and VERY funny. Had to be there -Went swimming for my Revo -Launched LowBudgetHookers.com -Started making my own wake baits -Created "The Dirk Files" some funny stuff Below are links to the 2 full length videos from this yr. I have 1 more coming. Kickoff 08 Ghetto Bassin' and to cap it off, "The Clubhouse" just got even more comfortable. You folks don't see it but Glenn has gone absolutely nuts with upgrades. He's been all out to keep this place the best there is on the technical end of it as well as the social. We are looking to the future and what it may bring. Knowing Glenn has it covered allows us, as staff, to get creative with suggestions. This is an environment I thrive in. Can't wait.

whats your favorite rod and reel combo for hauling in the biggins!!!
Salt- Penn International 130 st (2-speed) on a Custom 5ft bent butt 130 lb class rod. (will pull a 3 bedroom ranch off the foundation) Fresh- so far, the Revo STX on a 7'11" H Crucial (will pull the doghouse across the yard)
-
Should I worry about braid?
Neither of those rods should have an issue with braid
-
Anyone know what this is called and who makes it?
Well between Catt,Micro,Raul and Redliner there is probabbly not a lure on the market you can't get ID'd here. 8-) Don't forget our Swiss compadre T-rig

What goes in your fishing log?
I promise you will find a pattern. You will catch on what you throw, during the time periods that you go Unless you are constantly switching baits, colors, presentations, lakes, etc,.......your patterns will be predictable. imo, FIND THEM and you can catch them on a majority of baits and colors To make the log worth anything you need to add "percentage of usage" as a criteria. In other words, if I ONLY throw a black spinnerbait all year, guess what the #1 top producing bait will be. BUT if you add that I used it 100% of the time, it now has a more detailed value. another example 5000 casts were made. 1000 w/ a jig and 4000 w a spinnerbait. in the end,.... jig= 50 fish spinnerbait= 100 fish if you don't add "percentage of usage", your charts will show the spinnerbait as a more productive bait. Not true. Another example. Doug Hannon has "X" hundred bass over 10 lbs caught between 10am and 2 pm. Doug does not fish at night. Does this mean bass over 10 lbs only eat between 10-2? Absolutely not. Data is inconclusive without using ALL the criteria

Which is it?
I was going to comment but I forgot the topic. Oh well, anyone fishing today? oh right,....writing papers,....I like double spacing... anyone hungry?

Hydrilla?
Doesn't matter if it's 300 lb braid, if the reel is on a medium or light powered rod, it's useless in this application.
-
I'm Rich!!!
I would too but only if you have the lead based lazer line that you need to use with it. I have an extra spool, PM for price ;D We can all call you crazy, but I think I'll wait till AFTER you use it to say so just in case.....
- 10lb bass!!!

Hydrilla?
It's not the bait in this case, ANYTHING that you can drag across the slop will usually draw the same fish underneath to hit, whether it's a frog, grub, fluke, worm, rat, etc. (as long as it is weedless) The fish doesn't know,...all he sees is a vulnerable food possibility skittering across the topside. If you aren't getting swung at, they probably aren't under there or aren't biting. Getting the call is only the beginning though. Even then, a high majority will be misses and non hook set fish. The ones you do get to stick the point in will now attempt to put your gear to the test. Don't even bother throwing in there if you ... A. Don't have the stick/line combo to haul it out once it buries in the muck B. Don't have a boat so you can go to the fish and retrieve it. If A or B do not exist, I won't fish that area. I won't risk injuring or killing a fish I have a low chance of retrieving. Also READ THIS Every word is specifically chosen, pay attention

What fish to get?
Yeah...so everything that was said above, don't do that. Not only is it stupid, it's also very illegal in most states. My suggestion is a managuense, also known as a Jaguar Cichlid. They start out pretty small, an inch or two, but can grow quite large. In a properly maintained aquarium they can get to be about 14"-17". Largest I have ever heard of is 22" long. They are gorgeous fish and are quite aggressive. Don't know that I would put much else in the tank with it, but that's up to you. Just be warned that as it get's larger it will likely show aggression towards any tankmates. I would suggest a tank at least 80 gallons. A larger one would be better than that. I would also recommend a heavy duty filtration undergravel cannister filtration system since these fish, like most cichlids, are quite messy. lol,...nope,....he doesn't like company, lol. "Company" becomes "dinner". Pretty much the same with an Oscar or any larger aggressive fish, unless you raise them together from when they are young.

Frank TV Commercials on TBS during MLB Playoffs
This class of advertising is about "#'s of impressions" so I guess I would have to say yes. However, this is somewhat of a double standard because "Bad press" can obviously be a very damaging thing Name recognition and putting/keeping your "branding" in the forefront of the consumers mind,.....that's all about impressions, and that seems to have been accomplished here.

Difference between moderators and administrators?
Actually, It's determined by who has caught the biggest bass on a BR roadtrip. So far, Glenn owns it with a 9.1 from Fork so he's the President for now No seriously, we base it on looks, we let the ugliest one be the boss No, for real, It's based on Height : :-/ Oh wait,....was it biggest boat? most tackle? Fastest computer? I forget....

Frank TV Commercials on TBS during MLB Playoffs
I didn't watch any of the games to know what you're talking about but I did take some marketing in college and the fact that it's being discussed all the way over here on a bass fishing forum,....well, that would spell a successful campaign, money well spent by the advertiser.

What fish to get?
I suggest getting anything that comes from a pet store instead of a pond. These fish were bred in captivity to be in captivity. I suggest an Oscar if you like big fish but not if your tank is any smaller than 55 gals LEAVE THE WILD ANIMALS ALONE!!! CFFF- Are you saying you just ran tap water into a tank and added fish and they lived?????? Nitro cycle takes about 2-3 weeks w/ feeders or goldfish, about a week with an enzyme additive like Bio-Spira or Biozyme. If you add Bass or other gamefish, make sure it's legal in your state first, in most,...IT'S NOT (w/o permit) I need to start avoiding fish tank threads, they only get me agitated. >
