Even resin application
What is the best way to apply fiberglass resin to a large wooden swimbait to make it come out as smooth as possible? I tried brushing it on thick and letting it flow out, still a bit sloppy. I'm going to fully dip one and hang it today, but I can't see this being any cleaner. Wondering if throwing the heat gun at it to give it a quicker kick might help Suggestions? I'm open to alternative materials. Thanks

Jewelers saw. It's just like a coping saw but the blade looks more like a wire than a skinny flat blade. Like butter baby, super clean edge also.

Jon Boats Pros and Cons
No need to spend the extra money. The general principle is welded for work, rivets for fishing. My partners G3 is 4? 5? yrs old now and never had a rivet leak. Even when one does leak, it's a 2 minute, permanent fix. I bought a 14 jon once with 60 something bad rivets. Repaired them and it was bulletproof. It's really no big deal. If you are buying new, it will be a looong time (especially given proper care, we drag ours on rock every time we launch) before you ever have one leak and even then, it's only 1 rivet,...again,...a 2 minute fix. ps- the fix is... drill out old rivet. clean hole. insert 1/2 inch tapered head stainless bolt with 3m adhesive/sealant on threads, into hole add nut and washer on inside of boat. Done

Harvest/document/submit to IGFA/cash in if possible/donate carcass to an organization like the Sharelunker Program in Texas for research/Fiberglass replica That fish is old, who knows how much longer she'll live. I don't think I would feel too guilty about this one, provided as much good came from it as possible. If I was able to cash in on it, a "pay it forward" of sorts would certainly be due. Perhaps a donation to, or seed money for, a youth fishing program in the state of the catch, something like that.

If there was ever a turtle that could kick your butt....
No doubt, our lake has some man hole cover sized snappers in it and we were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time a few yrs ago when they were going at it. At first, we thought a big turtle had a duck or a lrg bird so we started heading to the back of the cove where they were. When we saw that it was 2 snappers, we backed off and let them go about their business. This was no "quiet" romantic encounter, let me tell you,...the shells made a "crunching" sound, lots of thrashing and stuff. Considering how old a turtle that big is, it's a very cool experience to witness something like that. I think those prehistoric things are amazing creatures. They make good spotters too, lol, every time a biggun pops his head up, we move closer to where he was and sure enough,.....fish on! One man fishing boat
You'd be amazed what some PVC framing can do for a float tube. The float tube community is definitely an ingenious bunch. HawgHunter has a full blown digital recording studio hooked up to his!!

line survey
This one is about as important to me as color. Give me a rod with either braid, flouro or mono and I'll catch you a fish. I just refuse to give a fish, with an IQ of 2, that kind of credit. I'm becoming more and more of an "under-thinker" by the day.

Keep them or throw them back???
Depends what you want. If you want BIGGER bass, remove the competition for food,...i.e. small bass, Pickerel, etc. Fatten up your bait, a feeder is highly recommended. If you want #'s or balance, leave it as is for now.

Thanks to fellas here JIGS now #1 tool
I trim the guard even with the straight part of the hook, before the tip. Then I spread it out well. Then I trim the length of the skirt and lastly,...thin it out,...alot This does nothing,...about as much as changing the color,lol....I just like playing with things ;D

Q for Reelmech
Is it bad to be throwing these big baits (ms slammer) with my Revo stx? It's starting to make a bit of a screaming noise when I cast out. I know it needs to see your bench either way after going for a swim but could these baits be doing damage? Thanks
