how to start to put line on a baitcaster
Who ticked in your corn flakes. How many fish have ran the line off of your entire reel? None, that is what I thought! IF a fish EVER runs all my line off I will start tying the line on, until then I will use this method. I am quite sure I can run a big bass down with my trolling motor if they are ripping off that much drag. Doubt that will happen. I've had plenty of fish pull me to the pin, and then it snaps like no tomorrow and that's called getting spooled. Here,..we call it the zing-POW factor. The line goes Zzzzzzzing and then POW,lol. To say it NEVER happens to anyone is ridiculous but it'll never happen with a largemouth bass, if it does, you're using the wrong gear. Either way, tied on or not, if it comes to "that" point, I'd say you have a 96% chance that fish is history (and so is your line ;D ) Your only chance is if you see it coming and make other preparations (wrap line around something in boat like oar or something nearby, but even then, you can only do that if the fish lets you. The site has very aggressive filters, it saves us time and keeps the board cleaner. This is a family friendly site.

Looking for a favor-big jon boat needed for a day
It looks like I may need to take you up on that one masssilver. I will PM you by the end of the week with specifics, I REALLY appreciate the offer!! Wayne- We were scheduled to shoot this Sunday. Mike wanted to do 3 states in 3 days (NH,Mass, RI) but we realized Sunday is Mother's day so we pushed it to next week, either Thursday or Sunday I think. Tentative. we WILL be getting this done though, we are making it a point.

Congrats Hawg Caller!!!
The cool part is that the fish was not a "one shot" deal. With the number of big fish you catch, you've earned the honor. Congrats HC!!

***Please pass the MOJO-2008***
It's that time again folks,...time to PASS THE MOJO!! The way this works is you take the bracelet fishing with you and when you catch a fish, you rub it on the bracelet, packing it with mojo. Then you mail it on to another member to do the same. The idea is to get it to as many members (and states) as possible to pack it with mojo and then we send it back to the owner. This year we are doing a tribute to all the guys and gals who are away from home fighting for our freedoms. To assist us this yr, member Brian_Reeves has sent me something very special to him during his time away from home. Below is the letter Brian sent along with the mojo, it goes with the trinket as it travels and we need each angler to please put his signature on the back of the last page. This trinket from Brian does not just represent this personal story but it stands for all the unheard stories of our many soldiers away from home. So, After you pack it with Mojo and sign the letter, you send it on to the next member. A key to this is....you DO NOT tell the board where it is going. Pick someone you want to send it to and PM them for their address. You also forward form letter of rules I will be sending to you via email, to the next person. Between the 2 of you, you need to keep it secret where the mojo is until you post your pics and send it on. YOU MUST POST A PIC TO PARTICIPATE!!! DO NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE A PIC OF YOU RUBBING THE BRACELET ON THE FISH!!!! THIS is the previous Mojo campaign so you can get a better idea. This is a copy of the letter Brian sent to go with the mojo. I guess the first order of business is to introduce myself. Surprisingly, my mother didn't name me Ain't_Texan or Brians_screenname (former board names). She went with Brian Reeves instead. I'm 24 years old and from Baton Rouge, La. Most of you know that I've spent the last 5 yrs in the Army and I've just come back from a 15 month deployment to Iraq. Now, you're probably wondering about the little blue and white bracelet. I know, it doesn't look like much, but this little thing means a lot to me. A few weeks before we left for Iraq, I found out my wife was pregnant again. We already have twin girls so this made leaving that much worse. I knew that she would need me more than ever and I wouldn't be there. Talk about a fit of depression. A few months dragged on. We had lost 2 of our guys and the fighting was intense, so there was little going good in my life. That's when I got an email saying we were having a boy. Talk about something that lifted me up! Man, I was SO excited. I wanted something that would remind me and something to tell the world. I saw this baby blue and white bracelet while on patrol. I traded it for $2 and a handful of Jolly Ranchers. Now I had something I could look at and still find that initial excitement. No matter how dire the situation, this little thing brought me home, and with it, HOPE. This little bracelet has been in a few IED's, dozens of firefights, holidays away from home, and countless days when I was far from my wife and kids. It was there when my son was born and when I got off of that plane and saw my family again. Good times,...and bad. So, to me, it isn't some stupid, cheap bracelet. It is a reminder of the hardships, hope and happiness of coming home from 15 long, hard months. Now, it's going to take a year long trip with all of y'all. Take care of it for me and wear it if you want to, Fill this sucker up with the mojo for me. Thanks for this honor and thank you for making me a part of your online community. GOOD LUCK!! Sincerely, Brian Reeves So, Dirk and I will start the sequence,.....HERE WE GO!! Looking for a favor-big jon boat needed for a day
Mike D will be down next week to film a Lunkerville episode with me. We are looking for a 14 or 16 jon with trolling motor only, for the camera boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'll do whatever I can to repay the favor. So if anyone has one and is willing to let me borrow it for the day, please let me know. Thanks guys.

Found the coolest thing today
I've never come across an "old" treasure but going back to Zels post about being in the movies, I can be seen fishing in "Something About Mary"......never saw any royalties though.... : ;D I also have a few trinkets from the White House when we visited (US Ski Team) but nothing signed or anything like that. Stupid stuff like some napkins from lunch that have the seal on them yadda yadda. If I had kids, it would be cool to think of them finding that shoe box in 50 yrs. IF I had kids, lol.

Jerk baits- thanks bass resource
Foul weather fisherman in the house!! instant respect has been granted,....GREAT pic!! :) (ps- If that jacket has gore-tex, zip your underarm vents in weather like that and the gore-tex will work better for you. Leaving those open in actual rain is like turning the heat on but leaving the back window open )

Whose got subs?
Dad knows sound Q. Sounds like the kind of set up I would do in a redlinerobert car. All super clean (yet super expensive) componenrs right there. The Utopias are a great speaker but not hundreds of dollars better than a high end component set IMO. Never heard the hertz stuff but that zapco 1100/1 is in high demand on the used market if it's the old school white one. Cart7- the words "super-Tuner" ring a bell? lol...I bet you did a few vans with Crager rims also. I was young, but my bicycle had a reailer hitch with a battery some house speakers an amp and the "Bye Bye miss American Pie" 8 track, crankin' in the hood, lol. ps Cart, those 20 watt amps from the day,....they now are the same amps, but rated at probably 100-300watts. people don't realize that it doesn't take thousands of watts to have lots of sound. Those old sony 50 watt amps (no,.......... Waaaaaay before there was any product line called Xplod from Sony -never understood the marketing behind that one, lol) were a very clean, strong amp for low money compared to todays stuff. Todays specs are so blown out of proportion, companies targeting the youth with numbers. It's handy that there is no mathematic equation or measuring device for "wattage",lol The closest thing you'll come to truer ratings from the lines that really target the younger crowd, are the rockford fosgate stuff. Amps are factory tested and the results are presented with the birth cert. of the amp. They calculate an appx wattage capability that actually hits where it says. (according to the experts, again,...there's no equation.

A house is just a structure, the people make it a home. The funny thing about all this is that We hate being the bad guy, ever,well....not RW, but for the most part, you know what I mean, Y'all know me by now, I'd rather celebrate life than be a cop but the guy that started this thread has brought more GODD into my life than I can put into words. His formula works and the above replies are testament to it. It's an honor and priviledge for me to be given the responsibility to help maintain that, although it can hurt sometimes when we see friends drift from the family, like Avid and Muddy in particular, 2 of the stronger friendships formed here that I value greatly. Those 2 hurt, and many feel the same. But, through trials and tribulations, as a board staff, we learn and continue to grow in a positive direction. Without your direct and honest input, this is much tougher. Luckily, you guys and gals are pretty good at assisting us (we know many of you have our backs) and letting us know what you think through PM's and moderator alerts. We got a good thing here, have since day 1, if we all work together and keep these lines of communications open, there is no telling where Glenn could lead us. All I know is I'm along for the ride, unconditionally. Well, not "uncondionally",...1 condition,...as long as I can be myself (That's asking a lot,l lol)

CAST For Kids--Guntersville,Al
This is a very brief reportback on this weekends ground breaking event in Guntersville Al hosted by Brian and Pam Atkins (some of the best folks you could ever wish to meet) The main sponsor for this event was Mercedes Benz but MANY local companies and organizations stepped up to make a PERFECT day. Gville is beautiful!! I got to witness an amazing storm when we woke up yesterday morning, serious lightning, wind, on/off torrential rain, not a positive thing on the day of a CAST event but amazing seeing it from the balcony as it swept in over the lake, wave after wave. What was more amazing is when Art (Art Pasley- National Director for CAST) told Brian "Don't worry about it man,....a higher power watches over these events, forget the forecast, go set up" The amazing part is that his prediction was spot on (gulp,..you guys don't know the scope of the storm I was watching take place,...this prediction sounded RIDICULOUS). BUT Bright sun by 1pm a perfect day. :-? Art said this was THE best 1st time event he has ever seen and I'll tell you what,.... I was personally BLOWN AWAY!! The host, Brian, came to our event last yr to learn and observe and Mike (Stratosdadri) and I made a new friend in Alabama, we all really hit it off. We stayed in constant contact with Brian throughout the year but I really didn't have the scope of how much he was doing on his end till yesterday. Amazing community, organized, all bases covered. The storm passed by 11ish, Brians game plan kicked into motion and kids lives were changed. I am physically, mentally and most of all, emotionally WIPED OUT! Brian and Pam- You knocked this one out of the park guys, into the next STATE even! Here are just a few of the 300+ pics I took. There will be a full report to follow.

Whose got subs?
Cliff- I have done installs using kicker (solo-B's, some comps, amps, etc) A very STABLE (which is the key in this biz) product but the company as a whole is more geared towards SPL (sound pressure level) audio than towards SQ (sound quality) Not saying they don't sound good, but they don't (or didn't) make Sound Q specific products (like the audiobahn Aluminum Q) Go to any SPL or DB comp and they do VERY well, with consistent results. People who own Kicker, love kicker,...in car audio, that means a lot, especially coming from installers who have to deal with "return" issues. Think about the "return" issues in the retail world of fishing, akll the different warranties, etc. Now imagine you are in the retail biz of a product used highly by teen agers and is an electrical component. There are MANY ways to ruin your gear when trying to save $$ and do it yourself, without properly educating yourself first. (popular with teen agers) Truf- Yes, those are Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5's, there are 4 sets of those all together (2 up front, 1 in the middle, one in the rear), PHENOMENAL component set. Look at the mid bass driver,....it's built like a mini sub. Huge, thick basket, rubber surround, etc. LOVE THOSE!!! (the mid-bass response is sweet too,....dialed in correctly, the mid bass lays down a nice base for the sub bass to compliment.

That means a lot Popeye. The basic and consistent mission statement at BR has not changed however. Probably never will. Sometimes, we go through rocky periods though where we have to be the bad guys. it's good to know that other members still "feel the love".
