This is one crazy goose
We have a good size family at our lake too. It's always cool to see the new babies every spring,......till one night, when you are counting them, they go from 4 babies to 3 right in front of you!! Same area I hit a 7.11 in the night before. I'd rather have a Goose chase me than a Rooster. The rooster has that claw on the heel like a Raptor. Geese have a neck that you can grab like that guy did. I must say, kudos to him for protecting his dog and also not hurting the Goose, both on purpose or accidentally.

I think it's time for me to get a dog.
Well, I suspect Robert can afford to have the dog groomed. They don't jump on furniture, so unless you spend a lot of time rolling on the floor in your suit, I really don't think it's an issue. Hey Russ, I think it's pretty rare for a corgi to bite, but they really don't like guys in brown clothes who the dog thinks might steal his trash! Our dog gets along with two cats, but doesn't allow visitors. Malcolm's #1 enemy is squirrels. 8-) Don't get me wrong RW, I was on the dogs turf both times so I wouldn't blame the dog or the owner,...kids at the house both times too, I'm just saying that they mislead you (or me anyway, lol) into thinking all is good till you let your guard down. Like going to pet him for the tenth time and......YOWZERS,lol.

I think it's time for me to get a dog.
Look at the muscles in the right rear leg in the last pic, holy crap. Very majestic. This weekend, the Lunkerville crew got footage of "OJO the wonder dog" hunting bluegill. She's an American Stafford (Pit) and she's a riot. Has the discipline and intelligence to get it done. The film grew thought it was a trip. Only problem is when she gets bored w/ the panfish, her next idea is to tote rocks the size of softballs around with her mouth. Just watching her makes me cringe and grit my teeth. Dogs are amazing (but so are cats )

Anyone that is into weightlifting..I gotta >
Before I bulked up, my diet was terrible. I ate junk food and hardly any fresh veggies or fruits, etc. Real bad. Fat, salt, you name it. I changed my diet and used the weight gain stuff from costco and that was the secret that got me to my current size. I never had this kind of mass when I ate wrong. So if size is what you're after, follow my lead, the results are undeniable. Sorry, this thread just needed a touch of humor

Teaching accuracy when casting
I have found that "yard" casting is great for teaching kids (make it a game or competition, assign points and prizes) or for a serious angler who is trying to hone a technique but for a girlfriend or wife, it's boring. When they are on the water, at least they have the experience of an outing and scenery and a boat ride, etc. Which reminds me. TELL her to bring suntan lotion and a book in case she wants to take a break, it shows you are willing to compromise so you can both enjoy the day and that you are giving forethought to her comfort.

Lipping fish outside of the boat
click on the "MY FISHING VIDEOS" link in red below in my signature. Watch the first few vids and you'll see lots of lipping. The main idea is to make sure you keep your line tight by holding the grip of your rod with the non lipping hand and holding it behind you so as to keep it taught and keep the fish close. It also keeps tension on the fish which helps to keep him from thrashing. Start practicing this method using single hook lures, move up to trebles as you get better at it. Remember though, with trebles, we all are vulnerable, even if you've been doing it for yrs. It's a chance we take

Teaching accuracy when casting
First thing is to get her comfortable with the rod. Heavy, larger lures, like a big spook (trebles removed, single hook in rear) to increase her distance and to learn to load and unload a rod. Use wide open water, no pressure. leave her with that for awhile, let that be the lesson of the day. You have plenty of outings ahead so don't give her too much to think about at once, tell her to just be conscious throughout the day of the things you just discussed and then go fishing. For accuracy, rig her a weedless plastic for throwing at tight areas like under trees, bushes, etc. There isn't a lot I can tell you here, the more comfortable she gets with the rod, and the more hours she practices, the more proficient she will become. To get her feeling more at one with the rod, encourage her to get aggressive with it, don't be afraid. Give her a cheaper set up and explain that the rod is disposable, you can't hurt it. Explain that line snafu's, tangles and lures in trees are the norm and to expect it. Explain that when trying to be accurate, you sometimes miss, this means you are doing it RIGHT. If you don't miss and tangle, you are not trying hard enough. This takes the pressure off her so when it happens, she doesn't feel defeated or like she's messing up your day. Laugh with her about it, tell her if she wants a squirrel, we can switch that lure to an acorn. Pack a lunch and during your break, interject some encouraging words and how nice it is to have someone willing to try like she has been. Keep it light and fun, remember why you're out there to begin with.

It's Memorial Day!
GW- If you'll read my post, know that it is worded exactly the way it is because of the education I got from you on the subject last yr. Don't "hate to be this way", because "this way" has taught quite a few of us, quite a few things over the past few yrs.
