Which Phenix Rod?
I have both. Braid with leader I would go with the Recon (slower taper). The M1, is more of what I would call a regular fast taper. Also the M1 trigger is up closer to the reel so, depending how you hold your set up,the M1 can be uncomfortable. I personally rarely use my M1 cause it pinches my fingers together.

Weird Story While Fishing
Sam, I totally understand what your saying. I was out testing if my new reel could handle light weight lures. I had time and took it, a pond 2 miles from home.

I Need Help Picking A Baitcasting Reel For $200 Or Under
I've really enjoyed my smoke I got for $99. My only complaint is what quantum fixed on the new smoke. It does need a little more cast adjustment. I don't understand why they would make the new smoke heavier tho.

Weird Story While Fishing
Went out to the local pond today, brought my two favorite combo's with me. When I'm fishing with one, I lay the other one beside me. Make about my third or fourth cast, Paying attention to my line and the next thing I see is a about a five year old with my other combo in her hands. Dad runs toward us yelling "Put it down it's not yours". Dad grabs a hold and the daughter won't let go, then the younger daughter starts yelling "I wanna hold it, I wanna hold it",I now have a family of three fighting over my 350+ combo...What the heck, all I could do was shake my head afterwards, poor guy was probably a single Dad.

Is It Hard To Clean A Reel?
I agree, I know when I first got into baitcaster I took two reels back that only needed to be degreased cause the AR spun backwards. I think some reel company's get a bad rap cause they over grease their reels. All they need is a little cleaning.

Phenix Rods
I have both in the MHF rated 1/4-3/4. To me they are two different blanks. The Recon is a little bit more parabolic then the M1. The M1 is more a traditional type of bass rod. As far a sensitive, I would give the nod to the M1, but its close ,and could be cause I'm use to the traditional feel. I personally like the recon2 with braid and leader due to it being a little slower. This is all just my opinion, and I only fish for fun!
