  1. Yes, right out of the box! But in my opinion, carbontex upgrade makes it even better.
  2. Good read. Im glad were getting more reel\rod brand options that are well built.
  3. Im a Niner's fan through and through...They had better get their stuff together tho.Two offensive time outs in third quarter? Lucky it didn't bite them this round.
  4. Wow, That thing looks beautiful. Reminds me of a pro gear but star drag and level wind.
  5. What about putting Chronarchs back to curado's (same price), and add a different size C14?
  6. There is a 50 sized reel on the market today that has great features already. It's not made by the big three, so it doesn't get talked about. Scott Martin uses these reels.
  7. Yes to all but a bid NO to dual braking system. less plastic on the 50.
  8. I almost didn't buy the 50e cause of IPT. Now changed it to 7.0:1 from the Core.
  9. Through the years fishing and upgrading my baitcasters. One thing ive noticed is, in the sub 180 dollar msrp (not actually what you pay) there seems to always be something you have to compromise as a feature in the reel. Gear ratio, frame materials, weight, brake system, drag, handle, etc... If you could make one change to one of your baitcasters (you've actually owned and fished) within the sub 180 dollar range, to make that reel what you wanted... What baitcaster and what one change would you make? Mine would be the TD Advantage in a smaller frame.
  10. Only 6 for me, 24,33,38,59,66,and 97
  11. They are ok,but not great. I started out with two of them MH and M. If your looking for a bottom contact rod for T-rigs, jigs, and shakey head, etc... I would look at the carbonlite rods.
  12. Thats a perfect pic to have a "caption this pic contest", in Everything Else section.
  13. When Penn (Pure Fishing), Moved their sub $100 reels to China, the Metal was actually a better quality.Ask a someone who workes on these old reels how many Penn 500 gear shafts got wobbled out at the handle before and after the change to China.
  14. I purchased a Okuma Komodo a couple months ago, and a Phenix M1 over Thanksgiving sales. Really impressed with the reel after a complete teardown. My judgement on the rod is still out. The trigger is closer to the reel then what i'm use to.
  15. I have a question for you Francho... In the video you show the handle, in gear, spinning so free with no resistance. Some of my best casting reels ( 50e) i have wont even make three revolutions around as i like to use heavier grease on my gears cause of the feel of it not being so free and having some resistance. My question is, am i loosing performance from using heavier grease, cause i like the feel? Or are you just bench testing with everything backed of in the video?
  16. Bringing up an old thread to say I agree with what most have stated about the Komodo. Got mine for $113 to my door a couple months ago and am really Impressed with this real paired with a Phenix M1 MH.

Was it a field goal Attempt or a kick off? All on Coaches shoulders.

    Agreed !!
  20. I read it on the internet Fact's.. Penn did 100 hour tests, of constant pressure on their drag material, with no i'll effects to the carbon fiber. This is why they call their drag washers HT-100. Penn and Smooth Drag, buy their carbon fiber sheets from the same factory.
  21. I added a couple Terez rods to my collection this year. One wax wing version in MHXF, and a 30# stick in MHXF. I really love the feel of the 30# on the few fish ive caught. Not enough time on the wax wing yet.
  22. Those Cedros rods are nice!!
  23. I disagree with that statement Sir Snook. Go fish shoulder to shoulder on a charter boat with more than 10 people of equal fishing ability, and look at the fish counts between Flouro and mono, line shy or not. As far as fishing for Bass i, dont think it makes as much a difference.
