  1. Thanks Tipptruck1-These are the answer's i was looking for. Still would only cost me a little over 30 bucks for a full synthetic oil change doing it myself. Walmart had mobile1 for 26 bucks (5 guarts), and a fram filter only costs 5 or 6 bucks.
  2. I had a 03 Dodge truck with a Hemi in it, threw some synthetic blend, and changed it at 7500-8000 miles. Now I have a 09Toyota Tacoma and have been changing conventional oil every 3000. Should I change to synthetic or synthetic blend, and go longer on the Toyota? Stay with conventional and go 5000 miles? Just looking for opinions...
  3. Works good in the ocean too! I drop shot ( not dropper loop) heavy weight and line depending on current.
  4. I have had to put a bath towel folded in two on a flat, firm surface and lightly bang the cover upside down till the bearing gets loose. Make sure your not doing it too hard, and make sure your banging it flat so you don't damage the inside of the side cover.
  5. It must be luck that i can catch a 20# class tuna with 40# braid and a 20-25# leader. This is my 20-25# outfit. I carnuba waxed the spool (for saltwater protection) and no backing. Makes me think the 7+ tuna in that range in the last two years is just luck. Geez...
  6. Interesting. I wonder what the long term side effects will be on the drag washers with TSI301 not being teflon based? All I have read by the saltwater mechanics is drag grease has to be teflon based. I guess it's a cheap test with drag washers only being 8 to 10 bucks.
  7. Happy Birthday! Thanks for all you do for us!
  8. Next thing you know, you'll have the dremel out.
  9. My sister took her two daughters to the mall. The oldest just being potty trained had to do a "big Job". My sister put her in the stall and went outside with the younger sister. A while later my sister went in to see what was taking so long. My sister asks her what is taking so long (with other women in the restroom) "Mommy, Mommy, I think it's coming out sideways". She is now 22, and we all give her crap for it still...
  10. I only use my 300e around three times a year. Like Fat G likes the 50e way better than the feel of the 200e, I think the 300e has a way better feel then my 200e. Too bad it's just too big for every day use.
  11. I alway's use knots. Just for the fact if you knock your rod and reel over, and it's just so happens to be in free spool, and all you can do is snag your line, is the tape gonna hold good enough for you to pull your combo back up?
  12. Wow, my mistake, i totally mis read that. Do you know how much a carbonlite spool weighs?
  13. Thats interesting, I just weighed two of my PQT spools with 30# braid and leader and it weighs less than the bare carbonlite and regular PQ spools.I always wanted to know how much those carbonlite spools weighed. Thanks
  14. I don't think your wrong, it's just your opinion. I dont use 30# and 40# every day so I can't do it by feel. My three day Tuna trip I go on every year cost me a pretty penny. I can't afford to take a chance on my drag by "feel". It's one more variable I can put the percentages in my favor.I use a drag scale. The captain has two set out as soon as you walk on the boat. Yes I use Avet for my 25# and 30#.
  15. Totally agree. How do I follow that? WRB, I don't know if you already know this, but Dixon Lake is now a no license lake. The story is they got a federal grant, and are not part of the state program? They now can have their own rules, which sucks, it's a one pole per person rule. I use to soak a trout rig and bass fish at the same time. It's how I learned to bass fish. The two pole Ca. endorsement means nothing. I think they did this cause they sence some changes coming.
  16. Can't speak for the Lew's, but I have been eyeballing one myself..I have two Advantages and an HST. Pros-Smooth on cast and retrieve. Great all around reel. Time proven, work horse. Can be used in salt water. Cons- Heavy by today's standards. (especially compared to the TP)The reel is wide, doesn't palm great if you have small hands.
  17. Already got some, and only use it on the spool bearings and pinion bearing.(If the reel has one) Then I use the tabu stuff on the rest of the bearings.Believe it or not, this is the first stock bearing on any of my reels thats gone bad. Tells me I don't fish enough.
  18. I'm thinking of just getting some Stainless from smoothdrag. This isn't the reel I want to soop up, even tho I love this reel.(sentimental,my first high end reel)...lol
  19. The spool bearing went out on my HSTA. I know it's the spool bearing cause I already replaced it with an old HST reel I had. I still use this for Inshore also. My question is, should i replace the palm side and the cast control all at the same time? Are they like headlights on a car, once one goes.....?
  20. This probably isn't the place but,I gotta disagree with you on the offshore. This is what braid was made for and where braid shines. Do you remember using a reel that weighed 4 pounds for offshore 15 years ago? Now that braid is thinner and stronger, you can have a lighter, stronger reel that weighs in at 25 ounces and still has the line capacity for offshore fishing. Take your Avet, it was made for braid.300 yds.of 50# braid a top shot or a leader of your choice.
  21. "Dude" I'll jump right on it and fix it for ya with that attitude, Dude.
  22. Came across this video of Dan fighting a tuna today. The vid is about 2 years old. Go to www.insidesportfishing.com ,Royal Polaris 7 day part 4, 8:55-11:40.I'm sure the fight took 15-20 min long.
