  4. I have been out every day this week during my extended lunch time (3 hrs) I have been to the Chapowamsic during the change of tides, as well as lake Lunga on MCB Quantico. I have had some big boys ( the biggest at 5 lbs) come out at the Chapowamsic. I have had some good luck on jigs (pumpkin grn, crawfis, Rage Tail anocandas, an Senkos.) Ron showed me a few good spots an man are they awesome.

  9. hey Jerry have you gotten the hang of it yet. ;D ;D you can fish the water. memo
  10. As long as your happy with it, besides look at it this way "YOU MADE IT, be proud" Looks good to me, what did you design it for, medium/light. medium/ heavy. what was your length. Man I wish I had the skills to even have one look like yours. memo
  11. The blade is only to create the noise an distortion, the skirt/tube is what a fish will target, so pretty much any thing that will give a fish a target to stike it will. I have tried mine with the same concept as you are I was also seeing if a fish will strike them. they do memo
  12. Well here it goes. while on watch :o (Active duty Marine), an reading threads an what not, I saw alot of pictures of fish with the quote" guess the weight, size etc, etc. For the most part they where all in good manner, but for some reason people would get offended when the weight was not what they wanted to hear. So to help everyone get along here it is. Take a measureing tape (cloth, plastic ) an tape it to the back of your Rod, start from the bottom an work your way up. This can serve multiple purposes, (1) measeure the length of your catch (2) rod protector, that way hooks will not scratch your finish. It's simple. lay yuor catch next to your rod an walla there's your length. for girth take a piece of line an measure girth. BARA BING length x lenght x girth / 1200 walla estimated weight. I dunno know I was bored, on duty. memo tell me what you think
  13. I eye hook them, get as close the spot that would be there nose just like pierceing his nose this way he still has the ablility to swim, an pretty much freak out when a big one is chaseing him. I give them just enough slack that the line just droops past the tip of the rod. memo
  14. How an where are you useing it. Open water, near banks, lily pads, retrieves. etc etc memo
  15. Well thanks to everyone here, I finally have it, (still get a tiny bit unravel). So i was working on Sunday >. But being the dedicated person I am. I went fishing with my bait caster only. Around 11 AM I went to the Chapowamsic Creek, an the activity was all there. I was able to get multiple hits ;D ;D ;D, but some how forgot about setting the hook : long story short I landed 5 LMB between 2 - 4lbs. the biggest being my first with the BC. (useing a Pumkin green senko T-riged.) The wheather did it for them, the activity was insane. My buddy also taught me a trick he learned from reading online. I will try an make a video an post it. within minutes of trying his techinque (an what I learned here) I was able to double my cast (an his ;D ;D)
  16. awesome report. I give it ***** (5 stars) pics don't work though (millitary computer > >. memo
  17. WOW good looking fish. Sorry to hear about the big one that got away. Good thing is you kept the rod for the next outing. memo
  18. Awesome job, I wish I had your luck an could find a steal like that. I am sure you and your daughter will have a blast with it. memo
  19. welcome, nice to meet you. memo
  20. well I did manage to go out there this morning around 5 ( with my newly acuired baitcasting skills) sort off :o the water was still pretty high. I threw in a blk buzz bait, red spinner baits, I even tried jigs with crawfish creature............ nothing just getting wet (rainning) Around 6-6:15 I decided to throw a yellow/green buzz bait, in 40 minutes I had 6 hits (nice ones ) an landed only four. The most important one was when I got to work..... there they where in the millitary mail... MY 2 CAVITRONS wht/ Chartuse with gold blade. and ghost minnow. I couldnt wait till the end off the day to try them on so I left around 1100, just to see them in action, (back at the boat launch area) First cast with the wht/ chart an it only made it about 2 1/2- 3 feet an nailed a 4 lb. 2 cast later an same results. now I just gotta go back out later tonight around 10-11pm an try again.. Ron Thanks for the advise on the Cavitrons, ;D ;D ;D memo
  21. thanks for all the responces, what I meant by activity is that I can actually see minnows an smaller fisher runnign for there lives. Also early in the morning I can see the boils and later on in the day I can see bigger fish swimming around all the vegetation. Ron by the boat ramp, the water level is almost by the sign that is posted it used to be a good 20 feet, the last 2 days it is almost 6-7 feet. I will try an give it a shot early in the morning around 5-530, an will keep you posted. Do you think the amount of rain we have had here will have much effect? thanks memo
  22. Just out of curiosity. I was wondering if everyone can post pictures of there tackle boxes. The reason I bright this up is because I think the "Bait Monkey" keeps smacking me. I fish from banks, an don't wanna lug around a suit case for my takle box. Ideas suggestions or pepper spray, ;D ;D memo
  23. Been fishing the Chapowamic on Quantico, (by the small boat ramp) Lately the tide has been higher than normal, I can see some avtivity but don''t know what it is since i am a bank beeter. Is it better to fish high tide or low. I have good luck with low tide useing 1/8 spinner baits (orange and green skirt). Should i be using the same techinque, or try something else, what can i do to get them to commit. :-/ memo
  24. I think pretty much anything on top worked slow will work. what have the fish been dooing lately. are they staying on top or going down deep., I have used buzzbaits so slow the they could have passed as a spinner bait. with the temp dropping the big ones will wanna fatten up before the baitfish gets scarce. memo
  25. thanks for the promt reply Reel Mechanic, being on this site is proably the next best thing to actually fishing (almost unless I' getting skunked) memo
