Man made structure/cover
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I know here on Base (Quantico x-mas trees are dropped off on the many waters. so I have heard of them. also large PVC pipes standing an configured in spider web style designs an what not. As for the tires think of all the negative impacts they may have in the long run. as far as them eventually breaking down an releaseing toxics/pollutants. that an also if it is a lake somewhere well drinking water has to come from some where. just recycle the tires an dump the trees in the water. memo

If you couldn't fish
Why stop fishing, when I deployed to Iraq I had my wife send me a traveling pole. I was stationed on Camp Habania (nice pond there on camp) as well as the Euphfrates. you are proably thinking that I am crazy, but the Iraqis love to fish especialy for carp. you never know. as far as time, there is time heck I am a Marine Infantry dude an still found the time. hope all goes well let me know if you need anything over there an wish I could join you. memo

My First Attempt at a Rod Build
nice looking rods, good job. question the pic with the line guides, is that a 2 piece or a 1 piece. just wondering if there was a reason why they are off set :-? on average how long does it take to make one. I have been thinking about building my own. memo

Just a little trouble with braid
Posted by: booneangler Posted on: Today at 8:45pm i was just talking to a buddy of mine and he was mentioning the same thing he thinks the tag was cut to short cause i was cutting it pretty close to the knot. I had the samer thing happen to me, leave the tag pretty much 2x the length of the knot, this way the knot will have some where to slipp to. Also are you wetting the line before you tighten down. Might be craeting kinks or hot spots in the line.? memo

Okay... Someone tell me...
It all depends on how much you go fishing, in my opinion if you are an average person that enjoys wetting a line every know an then, then by all means spend the 75-100 on a reel. If you are chaseing your dreams of going pro then if you can afford it by the bigger dollar product. It all depends on what you want to do. The way i look at it a Bass does not know the differance between a $1 bussbait to that if a $15 one. It is all about technique an presentation. But then again you get what you pay for . Look for the happy medium in the next purchase you make. Look out for end of year model sales, or store specials. hope this helps, memo

Cavitron knot help!
I use the palomar knot, I use 10lb Suffix "Siege" an have never had a fish break loose because of the knot. I use to have the same problem with the fishermens an would loose lures after multiple cast. Give the Palomar a shot, it's strong as well as quick to tie on. memo

I am sick to my stomach....and an idiot!!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D If it makes you feel better, I had a nice one take my line out completely...... I had about 20-30 yds of line on my bait-caster (I was learning it) Same thing flipped a jig a few times to a lay down, on the last flip I forgot to lock the spool in when a nice one picked up my jig an swam away with it, I was waiting to feel the weight before i set the hook..... but since the spool was still open he took off with my jig, an my line. I was stuck on the back kicking myself in the ^*&%&* with no line an no fish. > > > It's not the amount of fish or the size. It's the fact that we do it an have fun with it. memo

what do you va fishermen do?
Pretty much the same techiniques that you have been useing or learned will work. Yes the bite will slow down but then again fish have to eat..... the Bigger Bass will only hit when it is presented in front of it, hence it will not chace a meal since that exerts energy, the smaller ones will always chace the bait. try jigging around weed beds or target any remaining LIVING vegetation. BIG Fish need the oxygen an so do the little ones. the smaller ones will eventaully migrate there, an that's when the big ones will strike. My rule of thumb is the warmest days of winter an the coolest days of summer. Besides a bad day fishing is better than a good day of work. let me know how you've done. memo
