  1. I have a pair of Gander Mountain 100 mph Gore Tex rain gear that I bought 50lbs ago. Its a few years old, but works great! I have bibs and a jacket, red and black size Large. PM me if you're interested.
  2. I live north of Philly and I'm ready for a move. Does anyone live in the DC/Northern Va area? Do you still have open water, or did the water all freeze? If its frozen, when did it freeze? Just scouting. Thanks!
  3. One thing that was OBVIOUS to me was that he was fishing all of his baits much, much faster than anyone else was. He was RIPPING that Jerkbait, and really burning that crankbait and spinnerbait. With that clear water and targeting smallmouth, it all makes sense.
  4. Check out the Duckett Ghost 7' medium. Right in the middle price wise. Great stick!
  5. When you say swivel, I can only imagine that you mean a ball bearing swivel with a clip at one end. You don't sacrifice anything when you use a clip. So, the question isn't why, it's why NOT? It's faster, no change in action. In fact, the benefit is that it would prevent line twist, and most crankbaits will helicopter on the cast.
  6. In gonna TRY to go on Saturday. But the weather looks questionable.
  7. there is a guy in my bass club that spends $400-$600 a MONTH on fishing tackle, and fishes only a few times a month. I think it becmes an issue when you buy A LOT of tackle, and it never sees water.
  8. You should call Mike or George Accord at Susquehanna Fishing Tackle in Lancaster, PA. They fish the Suskie often. Mike was telling me that he fishes hair jigs down steep sloping banks downstream from shallow points aka current breaks. Keep your jerkbaits close by at all times! Thats the best I can do. Good luck! Side note: this post will be moved to Northeast Region forum, I'm sure. This is a local question. but, whil its here, I'll help. Good luck!
  9. Hot Mustard Muddler for trout in size 4, Goby (if they still make it) size 8 & 10.
  10. I use the size 4 (about 1.5") for trout and I absolutely SLAY them! I like the size 10s myself.
  11. That's the only reason I haven't tried these yet.
  12. There are a lot of ways to answer that. Can you be more specific? I suggest you search this forum. There are several good posts along those lines.
  13. Bomber balsa b. discontinued. I own two dozen of them.
  14. As an owner and fequet user of an Xbox, go that route. But word to the wise, Dad... When he says "I want an Xbox", MAKE SURE she'd be ok with a 360. He might actually want an xbox one (the new one). Also consider that xbox will STOP making games for 360 in about a year or so. They will, however, make new games for the xbox one. I would suggest that you get we the xbox one and wait until they come out with a fishing game. It's a very cool device; you can watch YouTube and Netflix/hulu with it, watch DVD's, all kinds of cool things. You might enjoy it yourself.
  15. I've used them. They sink slowly and are more for sub-surface walking. Very similar to Rapala's Sub Walk.
  16. Where in Pa?
  17. I want a Duckett ghost, but I fear that the insert less guides will damage my fluorocarbon. Am I totally wrong here? Anyone have any experience with these guides?
  18. Has anyone actually fished with one of these reels? I handled one this weekend at Susquahanna Fishing Tackle in Lancaster, Pa during their first annual BassFest. It felt just like a Lews Tournament Pro in your hand (notice I said it FELT like, not PERFORMED like). Its compact, lightweight, and casted very smooth. Though it was a little grindy on the retrieve. I was wondering if anyone owned one? Now I KNOW that these are not made in America (China) and I KNOW that this is not a Shimano or Lews or Abu.... But I am asking for opinions from people who have actually used this reel to please comment. I have no interest in a Brand war. Thanks!
  19. Does anyone prefer a thinner jig skirt? Maybe 44 strands total? Just asking; always looking for inspiration!
  20. Size 1 Gammy Drop Shot hook. That is ALL you need. Too heavy a hook effects the baits natural action. I know a lot of guys tell you to shake it in place, but thats not how I do it. I drop, deadstick for 20-30 seconds (when 90% of my bites occur), pick it up, shake three times, deadstick again another 15 seconds. Repeat. Too heavy a hook means too little action.
  21. Thanks guys, but I was asking which POWER, not which ACTION. I guess I should have been more specific. Would a Medium power Duckett be too stiff for trebles?
  22. I have a 7' MH, but its too stiff. Thinking about a a Ghost in Medium, or maybe another Micro Magic.... I want something under 7'. Thoughts?
  23. I just purchased two pairs of Sealskinz gloves, some OWNER Mambo heads, weedgaurds, green pumpkin power paint, and a toaster oven...... Its time for some jig tying!
