We're Back Baby!
I’m incredibly relieved and grateful that the site and forums are finally back up and running again. This has been an extremely stressful experience filled with long days, sleepless nights, and more anxiety than I care to relive anytime soon. This was, by far, the longest outage in the 30-year history of BassResource — and certainly not something I ever want to go through again. To make matters worse, I wasn’t even able to get out and fish during most of it, which only added to the frustration. Thankfully, I finally had the chance to spend some time on the water today with good friends, and we absolutely wrecked 'em. I landed around 20 bass in about four hours and managed to leave a lot of that stress out on the lake where it belonged. It felt incredibly good. Fishing with friends truly is one of the best stress relievers there is, and I definitely needed it. Most importantly, I want to sincerely thank all of you for your patience, encouragement, and support throughout this difficult situation. It meant more than you know, and I’m truly grateful for this community. Now let’s get back to enjoying the best bass fishing community on the internet!

Vosker Security Camera
Hey guys, So you're probably wondering why a security camera has anything to do with bass fishing, and why Vosker is a unique solution. Well, it has to do with their technology. You see, the camera doesn't use wi-fi. It uses cellular technology. Plus it's powered by solar, which charges the lithium battery. This means you can use it in remote locations because it's completely self-contained. Perfect for cabins, boat houses, or areas where wi-fi or power doesn't exist. I know a lot of pros will just place it on the roof of their truck canopy and point it at their boats while staying at hotels. I've been using it to watch over a buddie's boat at a campground and the images are amazingly crisp, plus it detects even small animals. I'll post some pics later. https://www.vosker.com/us/en

We're Back Baby!
We’re very glad to be back online and ready to welcome everyone back! To say it’s been a difficult time would be an understatement. First, let’s clear up a few rumors: • No, we did not go out of business • No, BassResource was not sold • No, we were not hacked • No, you weren’t banned So what actually happened? A critical security vulnerability was recently discovered in a widely used server operating system utilized by millions of websites, including ours. The vulnerability had the potential to allow attackers to compromise entire servers, deploy malicious activity, and even delete websites. If you’re interested in the technical details, you can read more here: https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/news/2026/05/actively-exploited-cpanel-bug-exposes-millions-of-websites-to-takeover Although BassResource itself was fully up to date and protected against the vulnerability, our hosting provider saw enough successful exploits affecting other customers that they made the decision to proactively shut down tens of thousands of websites in order to prevent further damage and contain the threat. In short, BassResource was caught up in a much larger preventative shutdown. The good news is that the provider used this time to implement enhanced security measures and permanent protections that will make it significantly more difficult for hackers and bad actors to compromise servers in the future. Unfortunately, deploying those changes across the infrastructure took considerable time. Complicating matters further, during the recovery process our hosting provider corrupted the databases associated with the server. As a result, the entire server and website had to be rebuilt from scratch using backups — and, unfortunately, that process did not go smoothly. To be absolutely clear: BassResource was never hacked, compromised, or exploited in any way. However, the data center where our server resides was temporarily taken offline as part of the provider’s broader security response. Despite the challenges, we’re finally back up and running again, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome everyone back. Thank you all for your patience, support, and understanding throughout this ordeal.

Yep, yet another outage at the data center. The site and server were unaffected, but the connection to it wasn't working.

Wow, that pretty much blows the whole season. That sucks big eggs. Hopefully you can heal fast!

DeepDive personalized options
It's $6.67/month (that's $79.99/year). Less than a bag of baits each month. How many bags of baits do you have that you've never used? You'll use this.

That's terrible. So sad this happened. There seems to be a rash of pet deaths going on around here lately. It's so sad and heartbreaking.

What has changed over the past 3-4 years? Any game changers in gear, baits, or techniques?
What's new? Forward Facing Sonar (FFS) and related baits/rods. It's expensive and pretty much just the tournament guys use them. It's primarily an open-water or isolated cover tactic that targets previously unmolested bass. It's an effective way to find and catch fish by "seeing" them with electronics rather than the traditional cast-n-wind "hunting" approach. Bait Finesse System (BFS). A specialized fishing method originating in Japan that uses baitcasting gear to cast lightweight lures usually reserved for spinning gear. It allows anglers to use ultra-light setups with the precision, accuracy, and lure control of a baitcaster, ideal for pressured fish or tight, heavy cover. Japanese baits, lures, and rods/reel (Japanese Domestic Market or JDM). A collection of unique baits such as "fuzzy baits" and other high-quality lures plus high-end precision equipment. They've become very popular due to their effectiveness and "fun factor". Glide Baits - realistic baits the resemble the forage bass feed upon. Often requiring specialized retrieves and equipment, but are highly effective. The baits can be very expensive. What's not new? Any baits and equipment in your current arsenal still work just as well as they did before, if not even better, because fewer anglers are throwing them. Dropshot, splitshot, Zara Spooks, spinnerbaits, Senkos, and Rat-L-Traps (and more) still catch plenty of big fish.
