  1. Yes, the site is experiencing intermittent latency issues. This originates with our host provider. The issue has been escalated. However, there is no ETA when it will be resolved. Thank you for your patience.
  2. The weight goes further down the hookshank. Look at the weighted area on the hookshank - goes nearly half way down.
  3. Spring is here and the bass are on beds! In this video, This video walks you through exactly how to find spawning bass and how to work a bed methodically to catch them!
  4. 11 year old thread. The OP hasn't been here since August 2016.
  5. No. Daiwa doesn't let media folks like me try their gear. Full disclosure: Shimano/G-Loomis keeps saying they will, but it seems they're always short on stock. Abu/Okuma/St.Croix/Seviin provide select gear sometimes. I'm saying that not pan anyone - just letting y'all know I don't get to try every product on the market. Maybe if I had more Youtube/Instagram subs. LOL I'm pretty sure this was Svivlo's 3rd year at ICAST. And after a lot of scoffing and people calling BS, they invited the media to "kick the tires", so to speak, and see for themselves their claims are true.
  6. Whelp, now that opening day is over, the only way to watch a game is to subscribe to streaming services. Pay to watch only now. Not this guy. MLB can kiss my....
  7. Yes, not only have I heard of it, I've tried it. And.....ya, it's very difficult to backlash it. I was at the casting pool at ICAST last summer, and was skipping swimbaits with it without using ANY thumb at all (completely lifted off the reel). I also made bomb casts, again without touching the spool. Most casts didn't backlash. No seriously. It didn't backlash. I literally had to pound the lure in a skip, or throw really hard to make it backlash a little. Enough to pull out line a bit to clear it, but nothing major. The drawback? The system restricts the spool such that casting distance is affected somewhat. Plus it takes a bit more effort to pitch or cast the same distance you would with other reels. It's like casting with the brakes on a bit too much. It's not a huge difference, but it is noticable. And yes, you can thumb it just like you do any other reel. Other than that, I was impressed. It was remarkable how it wouldn't backlash skipping baits without touching the spool. I just shook my head with a grin.
  8. I've been fishing tubes ever since they came out in the 80's. They were a Western finesse bait at first, so I was fishing them before they became mainstream. I still fish them today on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, I have 3 rods rigged up right now in my boat (split shot, jig head, T-Rigged for flipping). It's been pretty much like that year round for decades. Whether smallmouth or largemouth, the tube almost always produces for me. I've made over a dozen videos on it: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos?field_tags_target_id=190
  9. It's still called a tube jig, or "tube". Is that offensive now? What, are the kids now calling it a “Subsurface Cylindrical Interaction Module (SCIM), with adaptive appendages” ??! 😁 But to answer @GoneFishingLTN post:

Frankly, your browser shouldn't have had any issues with the update. The forums are working fine. That said, @12poundbass Your current browser is 146.0.7680.151 and the latest version for your iPhone is 147.0.7727.11 You're very much out-of-date. @Jig Man and @Scott F Your browsers are current. However, clearing cache is tricky and often folks don't get it all cleared like they thought. I suggest looking at YouTube vids to find a few tricks to completely clear it out - and even clearing your OS cache helps sometimes. 3 people, all have different browser/OS configurations and different model phones. Everybody's personal system has its unique quirks. There's also people that use VPN's, IP anonymizers, ad-blockers, strict anti-virus settings and more. There's just too many different variables. The forums are working fine, so I cannot provide any further technical assistance. I suggest turning off those programs 1-by-1 to isolate the issue on your particular device, or whitelisting Bassresource.com.
  11. It's time to get out and fish! Suzuki Stealth motors will get you there! https://www.suzukimarine.com/promotions/

Hey guys - It's the icon at the top of the page next to the Bassresource logo. I performed some server updates over the weekend, so clearing your cache will solve the problem. And if it doesn't, then install the latest version of your browser. This message will be repeated over and over and....oh, it already is. Nevermind.

  14. Hey Guys, It’s great to see your passion for the brands you enjoy, and I encourage you to keep sharing your experiences and explaining why you like them. That enthusiasm adds real value for the community. However, framing products as “Chinese” and implying that makes them inferior isn’t appropriate. Comments like that go beyond a product critique—they negatively stereotype an entire country and its people, which we don’t allow here. We want this forum to remain welcoming and focused on fishing, rather than disparaging groups of people. Please keep the focus on what you like about your preferred brands, rather than casting others in a negative light. I know you have a lot of positive knowledge to contribute, and I look forward to seeing more of that from you. Best, Glenn
  15. If Generations Were Cars… Back in the day, generations were built like reliable, no-nonsense vehicles. Take Gen X, for example. They rolled off the lot with patience included—standard equipment. No subscription, no firmware update, no waiting list. Just… patience. Built-in. Like power steering. You’d get stuck in traffic? No problem. Long line at the store? Whatever. Dial-up internet? Sure, I’ll make a sandwich and come back in 10 minutes. That generation had the emotional equivalent of a full-size spare tire and knew how to use it. Then things started to change. Millennials were the first to see “patience” moved into an optional package. You could get it—but it came bundled with things like “student loan debt” and “housing market anxiety,” so most people opted out. Instead, they got upgraded infotainment systems—fast, connected, but prone to freezing at the worst possible moments. By the time Gen Z hit the showroom floor, patience wasn’t even on the brochure anymore. Dealerships would say things like: Now patience is like that rare OEM part nobody manufactures anymore. You hear rumors about it: “My uncle had patience once.” “I saw some on eBay but it was backordered.” “There’s a guy in a forum who claims he rebuilt his own.” Meanwhile, the newer models come loaded with incredible features: Instant startup times Unlimited tabs open simultaneously Real-time emotional reactions Zero buffering tolerance But try waiting more than 8 seconds for anything and the whole system starts throwing warning lights. And here’s the real problem—where would you even find patience today? Most stores are out of stock. Amazon says it can deliver it, but only “arriving sometime between now and never.” Customer service puts you on hold for it, which ironically requires… patience… which you don’t have… because you’re calling to order more. It’s a vicious cycle. At this point, patience has become like a rare collector’s item. The kind of thing older generations casually mention: Meanwhile, younger generations are out here refreshing the tracking page every 12 seconds, wondering why their “2-day patience” hasn’t shipped yet. So if generations really were cars, here’s the truth: Gen X: Patience came standard, built to last Millennials: Patience available, but expensive and complicated Gen Z and beyond: “Patience not included—check aftermarket suppliers” And honestly? At this rate, patience isn’t just an add-on anymore. It’s a discontinued feature. Fact is, if you want patience these days, there’s no quick add-on, no overnight shipping—you’ve got to get it the hard way: practice. Full disclosure: Ironically, I used AI to help craft this message.
  16. Fishing after a heavy rain can be either the best bite of your week… or a total grind. This video breaks down what rain actually does to bass behavior—post-front bluebird conditions, rising vs falling water levels, added current, muddy water, and how warm rain vs cold rain changes everything.
  17. Depends on whether I'm targeting smallmouth or largemouth. Year round, regardless of season, I will always have these on deck: Largemouth: Spinnerbait Jig Senko Some kind of T-rigged plastic creature bait or worm Smallmouth Spinnerbait Splitshot (bait varies: grub, finesse worm, dice bait, reaper) Tube Hula Grub Crankbait in warmer months, hair jig in colder months
  18. Hey have you guys checked out FishGoFree yet? It's a unique tool that removes hooks from fish while they're still in the water for a safe catch-n-release. This is especially useful for toothy creatures, but also for hands-free release of bass. FishgofreeThe Catch and Release Stick - FishgofreeA Few Words About UsWelcome to FishGoFree Better Ways to Release Fish: We are committed to catch and release fishing. This concept is important for even the average angler who is trying to catch enoug Thoughts?
  19. It's this: They're a larger-than-average creature bait, about 5" long. I don't know if they still make them.
  20. Anything RageTail, Zoom, or Missile Baits. Top picks: Rage Hawg Space Monkey Rage Bug Rage Rooster Zoom Brush Hog Zoom Super Hog Zoom Lizard Missile Baits D-Bomb Missile Baits D Stroyer Missile Baits Chunky D
  21. Whether you’re sight fishing in clear water or targeting cover in stained conditions, these three techniques help you hook big bass during the most exciting time of the year.
  22. Regardless of what reel you like and use, fishing is still fun. Let's keep it that way.
  23. Man… that’s incredibly hard to go through. Pets really are family. They’re with you every day, through everything, always there to lift you up when you need it most and somehow make even the good days better. Watching them decline is one of the toughest things we ever have to face, and saying goodbye is just heartbreaking. But all those memories — the companionship, the unconditional love, the little moments — those never go away. And as painful as the ending is, what you shared with them is truly special and always worth it. I feel this deeply right now, because I’m going through the same thing with my cat. Our time with her is very short, and we’re already starting to say our goodbyes. It really, really sucks. Just know you’re not alone in this. I’m thinking of you.
  24. We had a major front come through on Thurs/Fri packing a ton of cold rain. Water levels rose while the temps dropped like a rock. I managed to pick up a few keeper smallies on my favorite lake, fishing slow finesse baits. I checked the DeepDive app just to get a second opinion and...well lookee here! Top 2 choices were finesse, followed by flipping jigs and finesse jigs. That's creepy good!
