  1. It is a wonderful reel to learn on and I did, and still have it. Forget the Shimano hype, thats what it is hype
  2. Hey Fellas:" Went out for 4 hours , found em, they were taking Bass Colored Shadalicous ( Smaller one) 4 keepers one dink, then the bite turned off, and the winds and rain approached. That was enough for me to head back to Camp Couch!!!!!!!!!
  3. Hey John: You know I don't talk either way about stuff I have not used, and BPS line falls into that category, so I haven't a clue I bought a couple of spools of Triline XL, and I am happy with it. Keith has never steered me wrong, so next trip to Hamburg I am going to switch out that Proline for Suffix and try it.
  4. No, but they do smoke after spawning ;D
  5. How does Paul keep getting around that block?
  6. No , and thank you Russ; We have formed a new club SERENITY BASSERS, and we will be taking care of it internally from here on in. While the response here has been overwhelming, for us smaller is better. One of the objectives is to spend time , between someone recently in recovery and a guy with some time and experience, while teaching these guys how to fish. More than 5 or 6, and this part of the idea gets lost, and it is the foundation of what we do. I am grateful to you and all the others but it is time to stop trying to get something that works and is beautiful better, it turns out to be self defeating.
  7. Now that's %@#!$& FUNNY!!!!!!!!!
  8. I have been using it for 8 years, I get new spools every 2 years, like clock work, This line is different , it feels different(much stiffer) and when i switched up all issues were gone. Granted it could have been stored wrong at the warehouse, but to tell you the truth I have kept it in my tackle bag for years at a time without all this going on,with this new batch I purchased just a few weeks ago.
  9. Would it hurt , insted of snapping them in , to the off position to just remove the 2 I never use anyway and leave the pin just exposed?
  10. Thanks Keith, I will do just that 8-)
  11. For you generosity for donating the 2 Daiwa rod and reel combos to the giveaway program! 8-)
  12. Thanks Raul, I appreciate your expertise. My interest comes from an exposure I had, doing the wrong thing many years ago to Hep C. I did a lot of research on Virus' and Thank God I was not infected The young, old and people with compromised immune systems will be the greatest at risk, and again our Govt keeps saying it is time for observation and containment not panic In 1999 our center ( I work for Job Corp) was closed for a week due to a viral outbreak 30% of staff and a lot of students were infected in a 48 hour period. We just received a plan of action in case we get hit with this one.
  13. Check the air filter and make sure the choke throttle is working and engaged correctly before you rip anything apart. Standing fuel should not be your problem.
  14. Hey Fellas: First time in a couple of years I got skunked on the Chunk Bruce caught a nice fatty almost instantly on a Smoke Slider head and grub, then a bit later a psycho pickerel and then the rains came LESS THAN 2 HOURS OUT!!!! I was dealing with 2 rods full of crappy line (post in Rod/reels/lines forum), got some Trielene then all was well Then it started to rain and yes I HAVE BEEN SKUNKED!!!!!!! Tomorrow is another day
  15. Hey Fellas; I am posting this because I have recommended this line since I have been at BassResource.com. I did that because for many years I used it and noticed no difference between Cabelas Pro Line and Stren, my favorite line Well something is different, vastly different. I just bought 4 spools, different test and as soon as I can I am taking it to Cabelas and returning it. THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING DIFFERENT, DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER OR FORMULA, but all I can say is THIS $%$^ is crappolla now!!!!! Major twist and memory, looping around both casting and spinning rod tips. and yes I know how to spool line, been doing it for a long time What a shame they really messed up a good product. I got a deal on some Trielene XL>>>>No problems with same reels ,rods and baits. GEEEEZ!!!!!!
  16. I think you got that wrong mike at our age we need to clear the gunk out of our carberators! ;D
  17. Three decisions actually 1. Forget about high end stuff, which I cant afford anyway and concentrate on finding fish on a regular basis (Catt Quote" It's not the equipment it's whats between your ears) 2. Learning how to fish a jig 3.Learning how to read deeper water, structure and cover
  18. Gosh Muddy, does that mean that you and I have to move to a fallout shelter and wear surgical masks? If that's the case, don't even think about approaching me wanting to play "doctor." I'd rather play Bernie Madoff and invest your money for you ;D
  19. In 1957, the Pandemic Spread of Asian flu saw 70,000 dead, and the papers were asking why isn't anything being done about this? This is not the news doing this the WHO raised the alert to Stage 5, Pandemic Spread is Here, these are not alarmists, this scale was set up in 1999, it has never been used at level 5 before Does this mean we should all live in fall out shelters NO: it means that the elderly, people with COPD, HIV,HEP B& C,diabetes and the very young are at great risk. This is important, non hysterical information to have So when it's all over, with minimal deaths , all you good old boys have another beer, and laugh about how right you were. Meanwhile it is actually because of these "hysterical" moves the WHO is taking and the member governments that will be responsible for minimizing fatalities.
  20. With the exception of one BPS Extreme (Back up status these days) This is the only reel I use. I liked the NS version but have come to appreciate the wide spool, as its easier for me to thumb I have 4 6.3 and one 5.2 and I love these reels, they are solidly made, and easily serviced. Both by Pflueger themselves ( never more than a 15 day turn around) and J.Francho will clean them, one of our members. I like centrifugal brakes and no bells and whistles , I have also bought all of them right here, used for no more than 45 bucks!
  21. Thanks for the help on the Cajun Music Catt, you know eons more about it than me. !
  22. I JUST CHECKED, BPS STILL HAS A FEW MODELS IN BOTH LEFT AND RIGHTY OF THE OLDER EXTREME BC REELS FOR 40 BUCKS!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE REEL I LEARNED ON, ALONG WITH THE PRODIGY FROM CABELAS. I STILL HAVE ONE I USE, COULDNT ASK FOR A MORE ECONMICAL, LONG LASTING AND EASY TO USE BRAKE SYSTEM, I HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU TRY ONE OF THESE, THEY SOLD FOR 99 AT ONE TIME
  23. Cajuns roots are French and Irish Reels with the fiddle and accordion driving the music. Very beautiful stuff, simple in structure and highly danceable Zydeco; Is Creole and church driven with many licks coming from the Hammond organ and put onto a button accordion. The washboard/bass and Electric guitar separate it from Cajun. The snare drum lines between both as well as kick drum parts are very different in nature. Zydeco's bass lines come out of Old Haitian tunes and church music Ask Catt about the great Cajun band For Zydeco: CJ Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band, now led by his son since his death are the premier recordings Bozo Chavez and Buck Wheat Zydeco are also great bands in this niche I had the pleasure of hearing Buckwheat also play Hammond organ at Church, a true master! Also Don; both of these music types are indigenous to rural Louisiana. New Orleans proper has given us more of a Jazz,Samba,Funk,Soul and blues combination. What is really wonderful; is that the Brass bands like the Rebirth and Dirty Dozen, with artists like Trombone Shorty , blend all of these form into Funky , 2nd line Mardi Gras tunes!
  24. WE HAVE THE SAME HIGH HERE IN NE PA! It's crumbling as I write this and we had temps in the 90's last 2 days and now we will wake up to t storms and 55 degrees. I haven't been on my favorite lake, but in the 2 ponds we have been fishing , the shallower sides have increased a healthy 8 degrees, ( over the last 10 days) sustained and the bass have gone from cruising to taking baits. No spawning activity is visible yet When we hit the lake on Friday , I will post in NE Forum
