  1. Yes, smallies exist in manassas
  2. Ooooops! Should have put a question mark after my original reply. Like someone else said, I can think of at least 3 other bodies of water in NOVA that have smallies!!
  3. Awful baits, you shouldn't even try them. Whatever you do, don't flip with them!
  4. Shaky worm- 5 3/4 kut tail, purple brown laminate bar none

It's been a very hectic start to my year at work and fishing is a true stress reliever. When you guys go to the beach or vacation to get away from it all, do you incorporate fishing into it or does vacation mean do absolutely nothing but plunk your arse in a chair and take it all in??
  6. I have fished them with a great amount of success with the regular sized fluke type baits. I've tried using paddle style plastics on the scrounger head and it seems to negate some of the intended action. I go a little heavier than senko, 1/2 oz long bill and fluke combo, sometimes dipping the tail chartreuse. I fish a deeper reservoir and these things will bring fish up to eat a lot of times when a crank or bottom bait fails. Vary your retrieve and depths and hold on. My pb of 7.4 3/4 was on this setup last fall, but they eat that thing just about anytime!!
  7. Seriously, are you guys that break this stuff using broom handles or pool cues? 20# works very nicely for me and I have not had any problems with it.
  8. Culprit used to make worms with that same idea, fuzzy side of Velcro on the worm. Buddy of mine use to school me with that silly thing, many times the only thing holding the bass on hismline was that Velcro piece!! I say your brain is working just fine. We need pics!!
  9. this is how good these look!! Pointer 78 ghost minnow and forage base at local lake
  10. Sounds like it could be a hookup for elec. start. You probably have an open space for the starter solenoid as well
  11. Looks like dude lost his "water" twice!!
  12. How old was the line? You don't say in your post if you freshly spooled or if you have had the line on the reel for an extended period of time. Was it in a hot vehicle for a while? Vanish has been very good for me, fresh, even when fishing gnarly stuff.
  13. LC pointer 100 ghost minnow. Cast out, crank down about 7-8 turns on the reel. Depending on the water temp, I usually start my count at 12 ( one thousand one, one thousand two....) When the temp is around 43-47 this seems to work best for me. Small twitches and always watching my line and slowly keeping most of the slack out of my line. Amazing bait. I use mono and not floro, personal reasons, I feel that the bait maintains neutral bouncy better with 12lb mono. Warmer water, I will speed it up on the ends of trees and get good results that way. Almost always have one tied on no matter what time of year. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!
  14. All of the water in nova has the potential to humble the dogsnot out of you!! No outing is ever a failure! Keep in mind that what everyone has said about these bodies of water is true for them, but not necessarily true for you. What I mean by that is, and I hope I have not offended anyone, is don't let someone else's success or failure prevent you from trying different lures and techniques. Many times, I've stumbled on to something that will flat out catch the daylights out of them no mater what day or weather condition is present!! I would tell you guys what they are but I've got to have some secrets!! Bottom line is go out, wet a line, have fun, create some magic and keep on gaining valuable time on the water! NOVA is an awsome place to fish, many options, many species. It's all fun!!
  15. As a Caps fan, me likey
  16. My fishing partner broke his 7'3 veritas as well. I have the 7'6 with no issues to this point. Wonder if it's just the 7'3 model. Hmmmmmmmm..........
  17. I have one. Had it for about a year. I think it has a very nice action. I use mine for chucking a 1/2oz long bill scrounger. I've lost maybe 2 fish using this technique and landed a fish over 7lbs! If you can get them cheap, let me know, I'd gladly pay for another. Not sure it would work well with really big cranks like a DD22 or 400 Poes or 6XD but mid range cranks I think will suite that rod nicely. With the scrounge, it has just enough delay and bend to land fish with no problem and not have to worry about pulling hooks!
  18. Have you checked all of your connections in the head of the tm? Corrosion around some of the terminals can cause enough of a power draw to cause failure
  19. Different type of shad. American shad and hickory shad
  20. Never seen largemouth for sale at the main ave fish market as long as I've been going down there 25+ years.

The Rangers????? Too many injuries, not enough fire power. Lunquist will make it interesting against my Caps, but I think we can do away with them in 6. Not sure if caps will make it to the Eastern finals but I can dream!! Plus you guys blew it last game of the year last year and this year had to win your final game and have Carolina loose to make it this year. Stranger things have happened. Philly went to the finals last year by getting in as #8 on the final game of the reg. season with a win!!
