let's talk slippers
Every year, about this time, I always take advantage of the black friday deals when it comes to indoor/outdoor slippers. And every year about this time, the ones I bought the previous year are breaking down badly. Bottoms crack/leak, and exterior stitching comes undone. I think I am always getting a decent pair since they were regularly $$$, and I get them for $. But I am proven wrong year after year. Needless to say, I am done. I want one that will LAST. I love indoor/outdoor slippers for fall/winter time. Can anyone recommend a good quality slipper that lasts? It's not like I'm walking the neighborhood in wind, rain, and snow. I literally will wear them outside to walk out to the garage, or out to the car (sometimes the ground is wet from rain/snow). So I am looking for a slipper that can handle all. What do all of you use/wear that has lasted? Care to share?

Looking for hiking shoes (waterproof)
I stopped at REI today. I looked at the Salomans, as well as the Merrells. I could have certainly gone either way. Both were comfortable. Both within the same price range. But I decided to go with these: https://www.rei.com/product/113822/merrell-moab-2-mid-wp-hiking-boots-mens Got home, laced them up, grabbed the dog and went. All I can say, is that these were night and day compared to the Ascend hiking shoes I bought. WOW! Very very comfortable. Walked through some water, lots of mud, and my feet were dry and clean. Certainly felt no discomfort. I'll go out again tomorrow, but for now, I think I have a winner. Thanks for the suggestions

Looking for hiking shoes (waterproof)
I recently purchased a pair of Ascend hiking shoes from BPS. I never bought hiking shoes before so this was a first. After a few times out, I have found the souls to be very hard, and didn't have much squish when walking. They are very loud when walking. I was thinking they'd soften up, but not the case. I no longer have the receipt, so I think I'm stuck with them. So I come to you for some suggestions. I am looking for a good waterproof/comfortable hiking shoe/boot to wear all year round. They will be used when I walk my dog in the mud, water, snow, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best wacky rig hook for senkos
I picked up a pack of VMC weedless Neko, 1/0 hooks. I will see how those perform. I didn't catch anything last weekend on them, but I'll try this coming weekend. Right now, the crankbait seems to be the only lure I can get to work. But that's for another conversation. So VMC weedless Neko for me

Best wacky rig hook for senkos
And that weed guard is soft enough to not interfere with hookset? It must be if you're not losing many. A lot of guard to get in the way. Or so it seems

Best wacky rig hook for senkos
let's dig this old thread up. I have a question when comparing two hooks. Currently I use the Gama Wicked Wacky Hooks (1/0) for my 5" senkos. I like the hook and how it performs bu that price tag hurts every time I need to restock. I have noticed the Owner weedless hooks that look almost the same as the Gama's, except for the hook bend and eye orientation. The Owner's are a tad bit cheaper for one additional hook as well. Has anyone used both hooks and seen a difference? Does one rank supreme over the other when it comes to fish hooked and the weedless ability.

8" Rage Tail Recon Worm
With me never trying them myself, I can't add anything. They look appealing to me though

8" Rage Tail Recon Worm
I have seen a number of threads on here since these worms came in to existence, around 2012, where members speak very highly of them. I came across a Pinterest page that showed all the color option of this worm. So I decided to look on tackle warehouse, bass pro, and other online stores to see how much they were and what color options were available to purchase. What I found were only a few colors existed, and or all were out of stock. Here is a link to the BPS site that has very few colors to pick from and all are out of stock in my area. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/strike-king-rage-tail-recon-worm?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&gclid=CjwKCAjw54fdBRBbEiwAW28S9p1SOWJoI4DtXU949mrjCSoW7V_pJf9D2fDDsQpghae-57I49RLRVRoCmiMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds So my question is WHY. why the limited stock and WHY are they hard to find? I saw the ones on tackle warehouse but they look different, yet have the same name https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-STRKKSFTBT.html?from=basres

Anybody Own The Ascend Fs128T?
I know this thread is really old, but I will chime in since I own one. I have the 2016 model. I have owned it for two years now. As others mentioned, the weight of the kayak is definitely something to think about. Although it is only 86 pounds, with it being as long as it is, its definitely awkward. After two years, It finally occurred to me, to move the location of my wheels to make it easier to move the kayak around. Before this year, I would place the wheels at the front end of the boat and pull it around. So I am pulling a 90 pound rock over bumps, rocks, ledges, etc. As you can imagine, this was not a good common sense move. Took me till now to see that. I have since moved the Ascend scupper cart wheel towards the center of the kayak. holy crap! that was a life changer. So that's one thing to keep in mind. I have read to not use scupper carts due to the damage it could cause to the hull. But I haven't run in to that problem yet. I will be replacing the cart with a cart that the kayak sits on top of, so it relieves the scuppers. That will be this winter purchase. Back to the reviews. sorry. I have yet to tip this kayak. I haven't purposely tried to turn it over in the water but I have stood up, walked towards the front left/right and it did not spill. I stand up and fish all the time. Granted my legs are spread apart to distribute the weight evenly, but the kayak is very stable! there have been many times when boats would fly by me causing a wake. The wake definitely disturbs the fishable shore line, but the kayak stays true. It rocks like any other boat, but I have never had to be concerned with it tipping. If you are that concerned with it, turn the nose of the kayak in to the waves. Less chance of tipping that way. But I have met the waves with the side of the kayak with zero issues. I did remove, and rotate the hatch behind the seat. I didn't like how that opened up away from me. So reversed it and now it's easier to access the contents inside. I don't carry a lot of gear, but the tackle I do carry fit in to a few Plano 3600's, that just happen to fit in the hatch in front of the seat. So the hatch behind the seat holds anchor/wind chute, and whatever else I need. The seat height options are very convenient. I find I leave mine in the center at all times. I've placed it on all levels to see how it works for maneuverability. On the highest level, I found the paddle to hit my knees a lot. So I dropped it down for that reason. The two rod holders behind the seat that are angled in a way that they point towards the back of the boat are absolutely worthless to me. So I created a rod rack out of PVC that span between those two rod holders. Works out great. The rod rack I built doesn't interfere with the hatch behind the seat either. All in all, it's an awesome kayak. VERY VERY stable. I have taken it on rivers, and lakes with zero issues. I would definitely recommend.

Lake Vesuvius (Ohio), latest experience
After my three day fishing trip, the results were positive. (May 24-26) We went out Thursday, friday, and saturday. We went out in the mornings, as well as in the early evenings. Each day, the day fishing absolutely sucked. Thursday, we were able to get a few small large mouths in about 5 hours. It was very slow. The evening was a different story. A lot of large mouth. I had a total of 10 bass. One being a 2lb-5oz'er. , the rest were a pound or less. Friday, again, day was dead, pulled in 2-3. Friday evening was kinda the same but my friend pulled in two 3 pounders, back to back. We were out for a few hours that night, but definitely a quality outing. The spot we found them on was a spawning bed, or possibly a post spawn location. One of the bass he pulled in had signs of blood on the back side. I had a few hits in the same area, but didn't set the hook in time so lost it. today (saturday) was my final time out before heading back home. Didn't expect much on the day since the track record of day fishing wasn't up to par. But went out anyways. Got a few pound and less bass. But at least we wern't skunked. I learned a lot this trip. I have zero confidence in plastics and refuse to use them. My go to is always the crankbait. The crankbait would not catch water. It did nothing for me. My friend was catching everything on plastic worms. So I got sick of him catching and me not, so I switched to plastics, and that's when I started catching the bass in numbers as stated above. After that, crank didn't see much water. So I learned to fish with plastics, and actually started having faith in them. Tried developing a pattern on this lake, but it kept changing each day and night. So what worked the night before, was not to be duplicated the day after. at least as of right now, this lake is not a crankbait lake. It is a plastic worm lake. Could have been "the time", but that's all that worked. So all in all, it's a good lake, IMO. Have your random kayakers, and people swimming close to shore. But other than that, I didn't see much traffic. Very quiet, except for the swimmers. It's an electric motor only lake. So you don't have anyone blasting by you with motors causing wake. Besides the surface of the water being choppy from the wind, theres nothing really that disturbs the surface. oh, and their is ZERO cell phone surface at this lake. No matter what carrier you have. SO be prepared to not be bothered with calls/texts 3 day period, fishing stats (thur-sat): Largest caught: 3lb-5oz Total largemouth - 31 Total Crappie - 1 Total catfish - 1

wacky rig hook too small?
I certainly haven't been fishing plastics very long at all. Were talking a couple months. So I haven't experienced issues with the one o-ring set up. I'll continue to try the single ring route, and then the double ring, and see if I have different results.

wacky rig hook too small?
I just watched a video on that. I see the benefit of it. Definitely keeps the hook upright.

wacky rig hook too small?
umm, what benefit is there to this cross pattern you speak of? Currently I put one o-ring on, place my hook in between it and the work, and done. I fish from a yak, so I am literally dropping it where I want it. No long casting at all. Haven't tried the long casting option at all.

interesting. So they are at least worth a shot. thanks for the feedback

wacky rig hook too small?
I use a rubber o-ring to hold my worm. I don't actually ever penetrate the rubber of the worm. If that matters

wacky rig hook too small?
Last season, I just started using plastics. Specifically the 5" senko, weightless. I was wacky rigging them on a larger circle hook, size unknown. Caught a few bass and was excited to say the least that it actually worked for me. Took a trip to the local BPS to stock up on some more 5" senkos, as well as wacky rig hooks. Since I was still new to the senko/wack rig set ups, I asked the BPS guy the best hook for the job. He pointed me to the Owner wacky rig hook. That size happened to be the #1 size. Now this hook was definitely a lot smaller than my large circle hooks. But if it said wacky rig on it, then it must be what I needed. Everyone uses hooks ranging from 1/0 to 3/0 typically. What happens when using a smaller hook like the #1? What can happen if the hook is too small? If this hook is too small, why would they make it? If this hook is in fact too small, what type of wacky rigging can it be used for?

What size hooks do you guys use for wacky rigging senkos?
circle hook

Johnny Morris signature series combo
well, I did it. Went to my local BPS and bought the combo. It was on sale, then I had the trade in discount on top of it. I picked up the M/F, 6'-9". This will be my treble hook lure set up. First impression? SEXY AS HELL . That is very pretty. I got slack from my friends. They don't dig the red. Whatever, they're not true friends anyways. Who needs'em I have never had a rod that had a line ID system on it, that's quite nifty. Especially since I'm always forgetting the line I put on the reel at the beginning of the season. I noticed it also has micro guides. I've never used them either. So we will see how that performs. I've read some reviews on icing over, and crud getting in the eyes which prohibits smooth casts. With 10# test line loaded on to the spool, this combo comes in at 2.5-3 ounces less than my PQ1/Ugly stick combo. Noticeably lighter! Feels very light and comfortable in my hand. The handles were a little odd in color, but they have grown on me too. Match the reel, better than black would have. I can't comment on performance yet. Won't be able to do that until water warm up. Waters don't really freeze around here, so I could go and throw it around some to get a feel for it. But definitely can't wait. C'mon water temps, RISE!

right, but if you break the combo apart, you can buy the new combo separately. reel trade in credit, and the rod trade in credit. no? https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/fall-and-spring-classics?storeID=11

Johnny Morris signature series combo
I'm definitely a color guy. Once I find the color I like, then I disect the specs of the rod/reel to see if I'd like that part of it. This definitely matches everything I'd like. I am planning on trading in my PQ1, and ugly stick cranking combo I currently have, for this new combo. Reel is definitely lighter, roughly 1-2 ounces. I couldn't find the weight of the rod, but I could only imagine it's more sensitive and lighter in weight than the cranking ugly stick I have.
