I really like the recon. I've only fished a few rods around this price range but I would say it's my favorite by far. The only two things are that the handle is kind of thin but still comfortable. And the specs look to be on a sticker that was placed on the rod. Otherwise it's a fine rod and we'll worth its price, imo. The m1 line doesn't have a model that's rated as low as the xx2 recons fwiw.

Lake Toho
Thanks for the tip/report FG. It's still a couple weeks away but I'll definitely look into the east lake.

Spincast Reel
I think I'll spend the extra and go for the Omega. I'm sending the one I have back to pflueger and maybe swapping for something else entirely. Hopefully the zebco is good to go and my daughter will enjoy it without the hassle the president gave us.

Lol, that's terrible! These peas have us spoiled down here. If I were to move, it'll be the main thing I miss about Miami-dade.

Spincast Reel
We are on our second president spincast reel and it still has issues. Already contacted pflueger again and am waiting to haer back. In the meantime, I'm looking for a replacement for my daughter that won't bind or not pick up line. Preferably one of the smaller profile types under $40. I see bps has their extreme spincast. Suggestions?

South Miami Fishing
Had some BFS fun before these storms started rolling in. Another that fell for the 3" senko.

If You Could Only Have One Bait For The Rest Of Your Life???
Spro phat flies on my UL rig. I'm confident I can catch fish in any water, any time of year.

Saltwater Lures In Freshwater
Recently picked up a 2lb pea on a mirrolure catch 22. I was twitching it right along the shoreline and the little guy almost swam onto the bank to get it.

Medium Light Fast Action
My experience with both brands tells me they will probably fish a bit heavier than most. Fenwicks offerings seem to be right on point with their specs and are an excellent value.

Lake Toho
The place we're staying has a pool so swimming isn't a priority but we will be doing the wake boarding and tubing thing. Are there any other lakes in the area we should look at?

Lake Toho
I'll be in the Orlando area with the in laws in a couple weeks and was wondering how the bite is up there? Also how is the lake for wake boarding and swimming? Is it gator infested? Any preferred boat ramps near the northwest side of the lake?

Inanimate Objects You've Caught
A while back when I first started getting serious about fishing, I remember I felt a tap fishing a 5" senko. Well, I set the hook and an epic battle began. After a lot of wthecks I landed a solid fist sized piece of coral. The hook was done but I got my senko back!

Zoom Fluke Jr Alternative?
It's not that tails but the bodies themselves that have indents/craters from minor to unfishable because the action is ruined.

Girlfriend With A Caster
I was terrified to let my wife hold a baitcaster. She made a couple decent casts gave it back and said no thanks. She never was into fishing.

Zoom Fluke Jr Alternative?
Thanks. I've tried the caffeine Jr's and they are too heavy for my liking and I never could get used to the coffee smell. I'll look into those owners and the Yamamoto shad shape worms. They look like they may be close enough.

Favorite Soft Plastic?
Anything roboworm. They've quickly become one of my favorites. Followed by 3 and 4 inch swim and regular senkos and fluke Jr's. Lake fork baby shads on a small ball jig are also always on hand.

Close Encounters Of The Human Kind
Absolutely. But that also depends on the person approaching and if they feel they have any advantage. Either way, always be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are.

Zoom Fluke Jr Alternative?
So I'm noticing zooms QC of their fluke Jr's have been hit or miss. The last pack I bought was full of dented and defective baits. I contacted zoom about it and they sent me 3 bags for my trouble. When I got the package, all of them were dented up as well, lol. I've tried to fish them as usual and they all seem to dart to one side. They would work on a Carolina or Texas rig but I like them weightless. Now I'm desperately looking for an alternative as these are my usual confidence bait. Sure I could go through every bag on the shelf but I feel I shouldn't have to when I'm buying a bag of brand new plastics. Does anyone know of a suitable alternative preferably the same profile and weight?

Close Encounters Of The Human Kind
Apparently you can open carry while fishing or hunting in Florida. I've never seen anyone do it and I doubt many police would like getting called in for someone doing so. I honestly don't think I ever would and feel more comfortable concealed. The element of surprise can work in your favor and you wouldn't become an immediate target should some would be thugs see you carrying.

Close Encounters Of The Human Kind
Haven't been approached like that before but I always look over my shoulder to see if anyone is around and try to be certain of my surroundings at all times - Fishing or not. Especially when I'm with my daughter. i did have someone's mean pit bull/mastiff monster dog start running up to us because it's owner didn't have a leash in it. I wasn't sure of his intentions but he didn't look like he wanted to play and probably weighed as much as I do. Luckily for the dog and his owner he obeyed and came back to him when he was called.
