It sure is! Just got it in yesterday. I cant comment a whole lot as i haven't caught anything on it yet and only made a handful of casts with a 1/16oz jig but it is similar to the previous model. Copied and pasted from my post on another forum. .. All in all im very pleased with it so far. A couple minor cosmetic things i dont like, like that bar code. Really? They could of put that on a sticker or tag instead of printed on the blank. Also the River Runner text could of been a bit more elegant like the lettering they used for the specifications. Otherwise, the connection is solid, action is true to its rating, real seat is secure and i do like the carbon? rings they added but i do prefer the grip of the previous model. Not that this new one is bad at all, the old just felt more comfortable, imo. Old model for reference. More pics to follow....

Cut tails always have a place in my tackle bag. I prefer the 4 inch size t rigged weightless on light tackle in pearl/gold or a watermelon color. Also work in drop shot, c rig, split shot, weighted t rig, shakey etc.

Yeah it was a battle. I love the fight fish of any size put up on light tackle, even more so when they are this big! Talk about an adrenaline rush. Luckily the water was low enough I could step down onto some rocks to turn her away from the grass. I actually did spot a couple peas but they were in no mood to cooperate. Both were very close to cover.

I tried to get the peacocks to play but they didn't want to come out with these back to back fronts we've been getting. However.... The lm are all different stages of spawn. Saw tons of fry in the 3 spots I went today with some slim and some very round adults. Including this one who I think didn't even know she was hooked until we made eye contact then it was on. She insisted on digging deep into the grass against the canal wall but I turned her around and got her out. Not sure of the weight but measured about 22 inches against the rod. I was using my new stradic 1000 ci4 on a Daiwa procyon UL, 15lb power pro, 4lb trilene xl leader and a 1/8 Spro phat fly. First and only fish of the day but definitely worth it.

I like my black ML casting carbonlite. I was slaying dinks this past weekend casting t rigged 4" alive shads with 1/16 oz weights on my stock curado 51. I paid $70 for mine and feel they're definitely worth their msrp.

A cup or two of folgers classic every morning for me but I'll pick up a blue Redbull every now and then. I think they're delicious.

I have a stradic ci4 coming tomorrow. Maybe I'll mount that on my ugly stick lite for poos and giggles. That is, if they don't melt when the reel seat is tightened. Honestly, do what you like and enjoy the combo. I'll look around my area to see if I can find an ardito locally. They do seem pretty sweet especially for the price.

X2. I'm on the KISS wagon and use 1/0 ewg for almost all of my plastic fishing. Keeps clutter down and limits the types/size of baits I impulse buy. I got a bulk deal on eagle claw hooks a while back and couldn't give them away fast enough. For a while I would bring some packs hoping someone else was fishing where I was so I could give them some. I made some local kids very happy.

X2 I really haven't seen many post their experience with it on the interwebs. Fisherman's warehouse has them for like 90 with free shipping. Almost bought one a few times but decided not to for some reason.

Went out and had a dink-tacular time. Every cast or two was a fish from 8 to 13 inches. was catching em on t rigged alive shads hopped on the bottom.

I fish a lot of plastics so I'll put more money into the rod. That being said, you don't want a crap reel either.

Yeah I agree. I had the previous model 6'8 L/F, 6'8 UL/F and have the 6'10 M/F casting two piece smallmouth. I don't two hand cast often but they could of added some length there. Definitely would help the overall balance as well. Apparently they made some changes to the blank in the new River runner series and I'm confident it's a solid stick but I'm curious what would be a step up in terms of quality and price. I see the Loomis GL2 841-2S TJR at a price I can agree with but they didn't seem to publish what components they used or the rods weight. Unless I totally overlooked it.

I'm in the market for a UL/F rod between 6'9 and 7' that must be a 2 piece and no more than $200...but I may consider going over if the value is there. It will be paired with a stradic 1000 ci4. So far I'm leaning towards a Fenwick river runner in the 6'9 length but I would like to see what other options are out there. Would love a loomis tsr-801 2 but they're out of my range at the moment.

It's still very slow for me. Last few times I went out and got nothing. With these back to back fronts, I'm not sure I should even try to go out today. I probably will though.

I may also increase my budget some and look into the ci4 stradic. Specifically the micro line. The fjs are at about $140 and the ci4 $220. Worth the extra 80?

The 2500 and up are aluminum but the 1000 is advertised with a Graphite frame. The previous model saros was pretty sweet and this new one has even more features.

Has anyone owned either or both in the 1000 size? They both have very similar features, saltwater safe and Graphite frame. The saros has that fancy xgt4 stuff and the stradic...? The stradic is about $20 more. Any other 1000 size reels I should look at in the $130-150 range?
