  1. My fishing partner, lol. I've caught bigger on UL tackle but these are the first on this new rod. Nothing a bit of finesse, skill and patience can't handle. Earlier this month...
  2. Tell me about it. I love catching them this size on the UL. Of course bigger is always better but I get an awesome fight and bring em in quickly. There were also some others schooled up behind this one but my fishing partner got cranky and wanted to head home. I'll get em another day.
  3. Grey when it's super bright and sunny and amber for everything else. I also prefer the amber color for driving.
  4. I find the elite is better than xl in every way. Smoother, stronger, better knot strength and abrasion resistance. Iirc, it's a couple bucks more than the trilene but well worth it. I don't think you would regret it.
  5. Xl is good stuff but I prefer sufix elite or seige if you need more abrasion resistance.
  6. Had some brief UL pea action and a good 15" LM. Both on a 3" senko. Today is the warmest it's been in a couple weeks and the exotics are definitely out and active. The weather looks to be stable for the next week or so, so hopefully the fishing will be too.
  7. Nice. I've always wanted to check out the fishing at tropical Park but never went because of what doyle said. I haven't been there in years, but isn't the parking a bit far from the lakes?
  8. Congrats! That's a lot of fish in one day. Those roboworms are fish magnets. Nice work.
  9. Thanks! We actually had freeze watches and warnings a few days ago so this warm weather was nice and the fish thought so too. I'm trying to catch em for you northern guys but I can't get out there often enough! With these good sized fish I've had so far this year, I'm hoping to break my PB.
  10. It's warming up some so I decided to hit a couple spots that I don't really go to often. Managed a few dinkers and this feisty beast. All came on a trigged roboworm alive shad with a 1/8 weight dragged and hopped on the bottom. This was also my first good fish on my ML carbonlite. I think a BFS bug has been born.
  11. I've used plenty of left over braid for tying things together, sewing ripped back packs or hanging pictures. I do like the practical joke idea but getting tangled in 30+lb braid does not sound fun for the person caught in the stuff.
  12. I grab silica packs from new shoes and from stuff at work. I have a couple dozen floating around my tackle closet. Never had rust in any hooks
  13. I'm sure that thing is a tack driver! Here's my list of mods TI Elite22 Kit Fox chassis ER Shaw 10" Barrel Jwh black bolt Black Kidd handle Kidd buffer TI Aluminum Trigger Blade Very Tiny Troy CQB Handle - Will be changed asap. Bushnell TRS 25 Ruger trigger group UTG Rail Cover
  14. I had a thing with changing out mono too frequently as well. I've since switched to braid with leaders on all my set ups. I only change the braid once the spool gets low from Cutting and retying which isn't often at all. I have 15/4 power pro on my UL and plan on going down to 10/2.
  15. Very nice. I've always liked the way those thumb hole stocks looked but never seen one in person. What distance do you shoot? Is that a Kidd Bolt too? I have a cast jwh black bolt. It's my first aftermarket bolt and I still feel like I just should of went with Kidd there too lol.
  16. I think I'll send it to brimstone for their basic trigger work for the time being. Everything I've read says it's an excellent value especially for the price they offer their work at. Eventually I'll go with an aluminum TG go from there. Adjustable sear and over travel etc.. But that won't be for a long while. The Kidd kits are tempting though! Care to share some pics of your Kidd build?
  17. A bottle of mend it goes along way. I try to save used/torn plastics as much as possible. Fix em with mend it and throw them in a bag with some megastrike. The fish like them and I save a few bucks. Win/win!
  18. Don't own the reel but my previous gen procyon UL rod is great. The new ones seemed to be a step down in quality but still a great value, imo.
  19. Never owned a Kidd receiver because they make them as rifle receivers only and a SBR isn't doable in my near future. The finish on the elite is fantastic. The anodizing on the inside made it a bit rough but nothing a few minutes with some scotch brite wouldn't fix.
  20. I probably spent too much on this build but I had fun doing it and it's my first from scratch. The only thing ruger in there is the trigger group but that will probably change in the future. I put it together with plinking in mind but decided I would rather shoot it from the bench so the trs-25 is for sales in favor of a pistol scope. Haven't took it to the range yet as I still need to change a few things like that tiny troy cqb grip, bipod and pick up more magazines, but it should be sweet. It's put away until funds allow and 22lr become more available but I thought I would share.
