West Miami Froggin
That I do. About 15-20 mins from that spot. I believe the same canal runs along the backside of brandsmart on the east side of us1. I've pulled some decent peas from there in the past. Haven't been in a while though.

Popular Tackle Boxes
I must be the minority. I feel I'm packing heavy with one or two 3500s in a Plano crappie bag. My usual bank beating bag is a waist bag with a few bags of plastics and a 5 compartment box slung over my shoulder. When I first got into fishing I did the back pack thing but rarely ever went through 20 count bags of plastics 4 or more hooks, Jigs, etc. So I ended up packing what I know I will use with just a bit extra and it conveniently fits in the small bag. Different strokes?

West Miami Froggin
Lol I quoted fishy fingers about Cutler Bay. Did it not show up right?

Nice fish! Where at in Cutler Bay if you don't mind me asking?

Shallow Spool Questions
I did it. Figured the amount I paid for the reel used and this spool, is about what it retailed for when new. Super excite!

Are You Fishing Your Dream Combo?
No. well not really. I have my stradic 1000 ci4 on a Fenwick river runner that I absolutely love to fish with. A better rod would be nice but it's the best I could afford at the moment. Any fish I catch with it is a good time and in the end, that's what matters.

Line To Line Connections
I tie on fresh leader at the beginning of the trip, when it's too roughed up or too short from retying. I use floroclear so it's pretty inexpensive to add a new leader whenever I like. Albright knot for me.

Got A Fishing Line Question For Shore Anglers
I just keep the spools as is and cut leaders as needed. I'm very minimal with my tackle so I have at most two spools of leader with me.

How To Control Distance To Target With Spinning Reel
I also use my free hand cupped over the spool and feather it for a soft entry. It's second nature for me now and I always do it whether over casting or not. While my hand is there, I flip the bail closed too. It may look goofy, but it works. Imo.

Shallow Spool Questions
I'm debating whether or not an avail spool in my curado 51 with ceramic abec 5s would benefit my fishing style. I currently have it on a ML/F carbonlite but plan on a ML *** or the Phenix 683. I mainly throw baits with a total weight of 3/16 to 1/4 oz and get enough distance to catch fish but am curious if this spool with help gain distance, ease of casting or both. Is there a max lure weight where it would defeat the purpose of a lighter spool? Maybe casting 4" senkos? Also, I remember reading braid is a no go with these since they are thin walled and there is a possibility of bending the spool shaft. Any truth to that? Someone school me on these spools please.

L/ml Casting Rods
Thanks for the replies. I guess it would be the bubba-bfs bug that attacked minus the medium power rod, lol. I'm not looking for a soft noodle, I have my UL spinning outfit for that. Last time I contacted *** about the ***, they were months away but that was while back. I'll see what they have to say now. I'm sure I've asked you before, but how do you like it, Cgrinder? I was looking at the avail microcast spool for the curado, John. While the Honeycomb looks nice, I don't think the baits I'll be throwing would really benefit. I could be wrong though....

L/ml Casting Rods
So I'm thinking of upgrading my ML casting carbonlite rod and keep coming to the Phenix recon 682 and 683. I do most of my fishing with my UL spinning rod so I'm very comfortable with light line techniques but think the 682 would be too whippy to use as an all around BFS rod? It would be used for 4-6 inch roboworm straight tails and alive shads, 1/4 oz spooks and rapalas, cut tails and at the heaviest 4 inch senkos. Would I be better suited with the 683? Ive been recently attacked by the BFS bug and it's growing strong. The reel is a curado 51e currently with bearings, drag and a lighter spool is in its future.

Backpacking Rods That Are Actually Decent?
Iirc goose52? Has some also and was pleased with them for the price. I would look into those as well if on a budget.

Good Size Mayan Cichlid.
Very nice! I caught my largest mayan today on a c-rigged 3" swim senko but failed to take a pic. It may have been a bit smaller than yours but it fought like a scrappy 2lb bass. They're definitely a blast to catch!

Backpacking Rods That Are Actually Decent?
The Daiwa Ardito-TR is on my short list of travel rods. Some of our members have them and had nothing but good things to say. http://www.daiwa.com/rod/detail.aspx?id=751

South Fl "cool Front"
My most productive peacock lures are marabou or float and fly Jigs, weightless super fluke Jr's, spooks/poppers and floating rapalas.

Shimano Stradic Ci4+ Vs. Daiwa Ballistic Ex
I absolutely love my 1000 ci4+. The most expensive spinning reel I've purchased to date but definitely worth its retail price, imo. Never owned a daiwa reel.

Pub Subs
Publix ultimate subs is where it's at. On their 5 grain Bread, it's amazing. Lowes food also makes excellent subs but I've only seen them in NC. Primanti bros are great as well.

Daiwa Ardito-Tr Casting
Sweet. Any other travel casting rods I should look at?

Scope Rings
Found a deal on a pistol scope for my charger now I'll need some rings. I see them for $15 to over $150 for a pair. Why are they so expensive? I know some have a quick detach and multiple screws to secure the scope in place but I don't see myself paying twice as much for rings than I did the scope. Any suggestions?

Daiwa Ardito-Tr Casting
Cool thanks! Does it fish like a MH? Lighter? What size reel do you have on it and how does it balance?
