I dont know about the earlier Black Fury Spinners,but I recently purchased a Mepps Bass Killer kit(6 assorted #3 spinners) The Black Fury that came with the kit was very cheap. The polka Dotted yellow section on the blade was nothing more than a decal(sticker) and started peeling from exposure to the heat of the sun.I peeled it off the rest of that way. i wont buy any more modern Black Fury Spinners.

Is it me or did the fish he was catching have some strange black marking on their sides. Ive never seen anything like that before.Looks somewhat different that a "Typical" Bass Markings you would normally see.

For me,if I go out on the lake and catch at least 1 fish on artificials I call it a success.Thats all I gotta do,catch 1 fish,I know than that its not a wasted trip. What does everyone else consider a successful day?

Bait monkey has been cutting me some slack lately. I have gone to BPS twice in the past month,and both times I walked out without spending a dime...Unbelievable!!!

When I go to WalMart I am always looking for the Red Tag (clearance) items. Ive cleared em out in the past and purchased all sorts of stuff I didnt need,but couldnt pass on the price. Today was no different. I found a Lone Rod/Reel Combo sitting with a red tag on the rack. It was an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6000 Baitcast Reel attached to a Medium Heavy 7'0" Berkley Lightning Rod fishing pole.This was put together as a factory piece.Has the anti theft coupler holding the reel into the seat on the rod. Price on the combo was originally $73 Price on the Clearance tag ..... $40!!! I went round and round on whether or not to buy it.I dont need another combo,but just couldnt pass it up at this price. I went to the sporting goods clerk and he told me theres nothing wrong with it,its a discontinued item that Wal Mart wont be carrying anymore.So they are blowing em out. I got the last one!!! Now I dont know whether to keep it and use it,or flip it. Either seperately or as a combo. Decisions decisions

I have been told that the definition of Insanity is performing the same actions over and over always expecting different results. I go out try the same baits and same techniques again and again(sometimes,only rarely,changing up the style,technique or approach) I cast over and over and everytime I expect a strike,I dont get a strike,but yet I continue to do it over and over. Must mean im insane... Anyone else?

Ive decided to give Megastrike a try because JJ's is just too high maintenance. Gotta keep it cool,gotta make sure the stuff doesnt spill,I tried it and cant say I did any better with this stuff.Put the stuff in my storage and a few months later it had evaporated. 4 bottles of JJ's gone. Now I will keep JJ's in mind as some really swear by it,but I gotta give Megastrike a whirl first. A few years ago, Bobby was doing a giveaway of Cavitron Buzzbaits on here, I promised him I would pick up a tube of his fish attractant to try for him sending me the Buzzbait. Well Bobby,it took me a few years, but I finally got around to it.

Ive been kicking around the idea of purchasing a tube of this stuff for awhile and have finally pulled the trigger. Can anyone give me first hand accounts of what to expect from this product VS Not using this stuff. Is it as good as they say? Testimonials please!! Anyone ever NOT satisfied with the product? And the reason? Is the Yamamoto craw version any better?

Anyone used these before? Its the Mepps Comet Spinner with a Mister Twister Keeper hook and Mister Twister grub tail. Just picked up a new one in the package on Ebay and wondered if anyone was successful with these?

The time of day was from 11 am to sunset. Air temps probably in the 100's(was pretty darn hot) Water temps were about 75*. My boat was in about 10ft of water,and the weed bed was probably 6-8 feet wide(from the bank to where you could see it end on the surface)I was parallel to the weedbed so I suspect the fish were also caught in 10ft of water.All except the scrappy ,tiny Green Sunfish. He was caught right against the bank,in an area where there were no weeds,just a steep drop on a rocky bank. The day started Sunny,but got cloudy/storm clouds towards the afternoon. There was a constant breeze until the clouds moved in during the afternoon and then it got glassy calm and really quiet. My eyes are now wide open,I caught those 2 fish in an area that I have passed by/over for years because the milfoil is so matted,if you get your boat in there,your gonna catch heck trying to get back out.Im always afraid of drifting into it.However Im gonna anchor myself and am gonna start targeting the edges of those areas more often.Ive been missing out on potential fish by passing by those areas. Like I said,I just really find it odd that I was hardly getting any strikes on my Dropshot from Bluegill. Those things are pests and tap on my Dropshot constantly,on a normal day. This day was different though.Like the Bluegill had lockjaw or were sitting in a totally different location as well.

Guess im not in the know about certain Baits. I would have thought was just a plain ol' crankbait

I went out yesterday and had a heck of a time locating fish. I threw Mepps spinners,Baby Brush Hogs,Topwater and used a dropshot with a Berkley 4 inch crawler. After being on the water for over 8 hours I only boated 5 fish and hardly got any bites. 2 of the 5 fish werent even Bass. 1 was a Trout and 1 was a Tiny Green Sunfish I hardly even got any pecks from Bluegill like I normally get when I use a Dropshot. The fish seemed TOTALLY turned off. I couldnt even get them to bite a Senko. 2 of the Bass I caught were on the edges of 2 different weed beds that choked the bank. With this information,could it be safe to say the fish are holding on the edge of the weedbeds? Strange because the 2 weedbeds I fished were on way different parts of the lake. The trout I caught was on the edge of a weedbed too.These were spots I normally pass over and have NEVER fished before. The largest Bass I caught was on the Dropshot and it had a huge Crawdad poking out of its throat. Bear with me guys,im trying to piece this puzzle together. So with the info provided,would anyone conclude that the fish are holding close to the edge of the weedbeds and they are foraging on Crawdads? Any other suggestions on where these fish may have been or what other tactic to try. It was a S-L-O-W day and I about lost interest yesterday. I can normally boat at least 12 fish(albiet small) on any given day on a Dropshot. So yesterday left me scratching my head

My leader is pretty long. Longer than 3 feet

I know lots of people use leaders of a different line sometimes when fishing. I started using braid with a Fluorocarbon leader on a Dropshot rig yesterday. I use a UNI TO UNI knot to tie the leader. When using a knot always try to remember where it is,or else as the knot runs through the guides,youll feel it and maybe mistake it as a bite. I did this alot yesterday,thought I was getting bit on every cast

Does line twist occur in braided line ? I am using it on a Dropshot rig with a Fluorocarbon leader. Is line twist something I need to be concerned about with the braid? Or should I just fish as usual?

Tie a palomar knot with a long tag end. Run the tag end back through the top of the hook's eye, and gently pull on the tag so the knot rotates a bit. Ive been old to ALWAYS try to eliminate ANY twists in the knot when tying it. I think this may create weak spots. Not sure if its true,but its a rule of thumb for me either way.

So I know that using Fluorocarbon with braid gives you the ultimate sensitivity. How sensitive is a setup when using braid and mono. I know with mono and braid youll lose some sensitivity,just how different is it than using braid and flourcarbon?

Everyone knows that Shakespeare products are pretty much entry level items. Anyone swear by their rods and reels? Ive used their stuff before and cant really find too much fault with the stuff. If your a budget minded fisherman,the stuff will get you by. Anyone care to share their thoughts experiences or opinions on this product line?

So what kind and size of hook does everyone like to use when D-Sing. I have been recently using Eagle Claw #8 or #6 Kahle Hooks. I buy them snelled in the packages and just cut the line off. Otherwise I use Octopus hooks in the smae size mentioned above.

I cant agree more...It really is alot of "fun fishing" using a Dropshot. Ive caught every species of fish in my home lake on a DS. Trout,Bass,Green Sunfish,Bluegill and Hybrid Sunfish.

Ive learned that a DS can be very effective. Its my "go-to" when I cant get bit on anything else. I normally strip line the length of my arm,and tie the hook there(maybe its a little long but it works for me) When I fish it,Ill cast it out,let the weight hit the bottom. Ill then begin lightly yo-yo'ing my rod tip. If that doesnt work,ill drag it,stop,drop my rod tip so the bait flutters to the bottom. Wait a few seconds and snap the line up,making sure you keep the sinker on the bottom. Yesterday I noticed something neat. I was Using a DS and the sinker got stuck in some boulders on the bottom.I pulled and pulled trying to get unstuck. I tie a slipknot on my sinker for just such an occasion. Once the sinker slid off the line and the line was free(weightless),I had a fish just SLAM the bait. The fish mustve just been there watching the bait the whole time waiting for it to move,It came loose with a jerk,and then the fish attacked it. Alot of times,I wont even feel the fish. Just more weight than usual. I set the hook and "FISH ON!!" As far as a horizontal presentation,ive been told if you fish from the bank,that the bait(if using a worm) will appear like a baitfish feeding on the bottom as it climbs up the depths incline back to the bank.Ive pictured it and it makes sense

I finally went out and tried this bait on a Dropshot rig. Did very well.Using the 4 inch version,didnt catch anything huge though.I was very pleasantly suprised to see how effective these were on a Dropshot,especially since this particular bag had been in my boat for over a year and each worm had all but lost all of its color. Question I have now is whats the better way to rig these baits. With the "Cut tail" pointed up or Turned down? Is there really any difference in action and results depending on how the tail is pointed??
