I just recently did this for all the cranks I own, that I can identify.Some of the baits I found on the water and I cant tell who makes em,so obviously I dont know much on the diving depth. On most baits I had to go online to find the specs for how deep they dive. I used an Ultra fine point Sharpie and wrote the depth on the underside,right behind the lip of the crank. On one MANNs 10+ I own all I did was trace the 10+ on the side of the bait with my Sharpie.This way I know this bait will potentially dive "AT LEAST" 10 feet when conditions permit it to.I couldnt find any other specs for this particular bait. On one gelcoated Norman crank I own,the Sharpie wasnt doing the trick,so I had to get my daughters black nail polish and as gently as I could, write "6-8" on the underside,behind the lip of the crank. Doesnt look the greatest,but I doubt the fish will care.

That makes me think. Perhaps colors do make a difference or is it the baits themselves??

I apologize if this has been covered already. I just recently picked up a few baits in this color,thats the reason for asking. Ive never really been one to chuck and wind cranks,and I think im gonna give it a whirl this year.

Wondering why this color is spoke of so much and hyped so much. Is this color REALLY that attracting to the fish,or is just attracting Fisherman. Anyone have first hand experience of catch ratios using a "Sexy Shad" color vs. some of the traditional colors? Whats everyones opinions on the whole "Sexy Shad" thing?

I think I remember hearing that one of these 2 companies makes junk. Which one was it? How would each of you rate the quality of each companies baits?

The Whole Ragetail thing got me. I mustve purchased $100 in different varieties.Tried em(Space Monkey,Anaconda,Craw) and only caught 2 fish. I was using a 10 inch Anaconda and caught a fish that was shorter than the bait. I tried em T-rigged,keel weighted,nothing seemed to work too well. Theyre still in my tackle bag and I may break em out again,but I aint gettin my hopes up that they will catch decent fish(yet)

The Rattlin Rapala is harder to find anymore though(at least around here). I seriously thought they discontinued it.

Id like to put together a comparison of the 2 different Lipless Cranks that Strike King currently offers. ( I have never fished either one) Heres the stats on both: Crank #1 Strike King Diamond Shad: Weight: 1/2 ounce Color: Sexy Shad Crank#2 Strike King Redeye Shad: Weight: 1/2 ounce Color: Lucky Shad Im not an avid Crankbait fisherman,but may start trying crankbaits this year.Both of these baits have similarities in that they are both rattling,lipless cranks.Is one of these better than the other,or???. Id like to get some opinions based on experience on both of these cranks (if thats possible) How do these baits differ,other than the obvious appearance? Does one have louder/different frequency rattles? How about the action,does one have a tighter wiggle? Ive never known a company to market 2 different kinds of lipless rattle trap style baits at the same time...Or am I wrong? Cotton Cordell has "The Spot" Bill Lewis has the "Rat-L-Trap" Rapala has the "Rattlin Rapala" Im curious as to why SK would market 2 similar style(but different appearing) baits at the same time. Is this a way of slowly making the Diamond Shad obsolete,and making the Redeye Shad the front runner?

On a pond I used to fish as a kid,the water dropped and all along the bank(out of the water) would be quarter size holes that still had water in them. You could always find some good size ones in those holes. A couple of years ago on another body of water I fish,the water level went way up flooding the trees along the bank. I pitched Baby Brush Hogs for the first time at the base of that timber and about every bass I caught was puking up remnants of crawdads. So it seems to me the crawdads had taken to hanging out at the base of the trees and and the bass were having a feast. My point ? Maybe try at the base of flooded trees with a trap. Id also like to add that from my experience,Crawdads are mostly active at night.Ive gone catfishing at night with chicken livers and had all sorts of "Tugs" on my line,only to find its about 3 very large crawdads fighting over my bait when I reel it up. Another good bait to use is Raw Chicken Hearts and Gizzards(VERY CHEAP) The meat is tough and will stay on a hook very well,if you decide to fish close to the bank in a rocky area for them. The idea isnt to "hook" the crawdads,but to drag em up to the bank while they are still working on getting your bait off the hook.. At night be careful with white lights,as the crawdads tend to spook really easily in the dark when light is shone on them. If you are walking the bank during the day,look under other things in the water. They do like rocks(boulders) but will hang out under boards/pallets,Large tree limbs,and any other place they can hide.Never really hurts to turn things over,there maybe more than 1 Craw living under the item. If you find any submerged items that have been there awhile like Beer Bottles,Soda cans,Tin cans,even car tires.Pull the items out of the water carefully,not allowing the water to dump out. Pour the water out in your "bait bucket" and see what may be inside. Sometimes small Bluegill like to hide inside thise type things. Ive pulled a car tire out of a creek and the water was very muddy inside,all I could see was a pair of antennae moving around,I dumped the tire on the bank and there was a HUGE Crawdad living inside that tire.

So what color pattern and size Redeye Shad did KVD win the classic on? Gotta get me some of them!!

The local Wal Mart has started to carry The Strike King Red Eye Shad. You know,the one KVD made famous. The price on the 1/2 ounce "sexy shad" pattern is $4.96 All the other Strike King Red Eye Shad baits regardless of color or weight are priced at $5.76 Curious to know what might be behind this pricing scheme. I figured the Sexy Shad color would be at a "premium" price compared to the other colors available,since KVD is the one who created that color pattern and gave it such a name.

So a "SCROUNGER" jighead would be a good option then?

Even better yet,order more than 1 bottle and save on shipping. Whether its 1 bottle or 4 bottles its all the same cost for shipping. I dont know how many bottles youd have to purchase for the cost of shipping to increase.Ive ordered up to 4 bottles at a time,and thats how I will continue to purchase it.

Live Magic Shad

May just have to try them on a Chatterbait type bait I have. The skirt came apart and I just threw it in my "extras" box. May have to go dig it back out. Anyone fish these weightless like a Senko or a Fluke and had luck?

Just picked up a few "rigged" models of this bait at a bargain bin. Anyone had luck with these,or is that why its in the bargain bin? Please enlighten me on the pros and cons of this bait

How does everyone store their spinnerbaits? I use Plano 3503 boxes. ' Does anyone catergorize thier baits based on Color of bait,Blade type,size of weight,brand ect...Or do you all just put them in the boxes and call it good. For the most part I have mine setup by brands

The ketchup trick works well. I just purchased a Strike King Spinnerbait off Ebay and when it came in the Willow blade was tarnished(even though the bait was new in the package). I used ketchup and a used dryer sheet(BOUNCE) and the old dull tarnished gold willow leaf blades is all "purty and sparkly"again. Thanks for all the suggestions

Ive heard people say JJ's lasts a long time after you apply it to baits. I will have to disagree. I dipped some of my baits last June or July,and put them back into the original bags. I opened those bags recently and no scent...Nothing. Most of the color from the JJ's was gone too. These were baits that I never even used,never saw water. Only 1 bag of baits survived the JJ's dip and that was a bag of Zoom tubes. I can open that bag up and it reeks something awful,the color remained on these as well. Why the JJ's scent and dye is gone from my other baits I dipped and not from the Zoom tubes?...I imagine its because the JJ's got inside the tube as well when I dipped it.I just dont know for sure though.
