Thoughts on Bleeding baits
Youve all seen the baits, some cranks with "blood" speckles on them . They are trying to imitate a bleeding baitfish or prey. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I was driving and thinking about the concept and it occurred to me,Doesnt blood dilute in water? So the only way for a predator to sense a bleeder, would be through smell and taste in the water. Well the "blood" painted on some cranks doesnt have any smell or taste of blood,so how in the world is it supposed to be effective? Dont know if anyone has ever given that any thought, but I figured id bring it up and see how the discussion about this went. Im all ears.

So whats up with Chartreuse
So whats the deal with the color Chartreuse? Why is this color so effective? Ive seen Bluegill with a Chartreuse tail while swimming, but thats only the tip of their tail. Why are baits that are totally Chartreuse such a killer?

the monkey has struck
Ive got the monkey on my back as we speak. Theyve set aside a clearance section at the local WalMart. Everything thats on sale is a non replenishable item(Theyre not gonna carry it anymore) The prices are set that every week the price goes down until its all gone.I check back everyday. I dont fish crankbaits but I couldnt pass picking up 4 Norman Mad N baits,3 Norman Deep Baby N baits and 1 Norman Deep Little N baits all for $2.00 each I also picked up a pack of Madman Lizards for $.75 and 5 Strike King Bitsy Minnows for $1.50 each. Theres a whole lot more to pick up but im just waiting for the prices to drop.

Wanting to get started with Pouring baits.
I have been kicking the idea around, and am possibly interested in pursuing pouring my own baits. Whats all involved? What equipment is necessary?Where do you get the supplies from. Im a 100% Disabled Veteran(Unemployable) and may be able to have the Veterans Administration help me with some of the expenses involved(Havent approached them yet) The VA has been known to help Veterans out in providing equipment in gainful hobbies. I know of a Veteran that has a woodworking hobby, and the VA purchased an entire woodshop(Tools,equipment...Everything) for him, just so he could maintain a healthy mindset while doing something constructive.. So if they would do that for a woodworker, why wouldnt they provide something similar for a fisherman? I need to get info about the costs involved for the molds, where to obtain them and such,so I can present this stuff to the VA if I decide to approach them about this.Any additional information is greatly appreciated

Drop-Shot Help
Ive noticed alot of times when im using a DS,I am bumping the bait along, keeping the weight in contact with the bottom, and the line would just load up and the fish would just be there,so real tick tick or tap tap, just a notice of the line being heavier than normal. Ive had bites to where the fish hit and just take off. Im totally unprepared,it happens so fast and I usually miss the fish on those kind of bites. Happens so quick,I just never have time to react. Bites like that almost pull the rod out of my hand.Someday ill be able to hook one of them suckers and find out just what was striking so hard and fast. Im bettin it was Bluegill or Green Sunfish.

Mixing soft baits
Wanna reek of Garlic? Get some JJ's Magic and be done. I have heard that mixing colors "may" not be such a bad thing,as you can sometimes come up with a custom color fish have never seen. On the other hand,as its already been mentioned, some types of plastics arent compatible with other types,so you may end up fusing baits together, deforming them,or melting them beyond use. Now if the same style/brand worms(different colors)ie-a Zoom Brush Hog in Chartreuse color and a Zoom Brush Hog in Junebug were mixed together,I suppose the worst that could happen is the colors could bleed off into each other, creating a custom color(charteuse/junebug swirl?),which in some experimentation, may not be a bad thing. May even prove successful. If so,make sure you take note on how you came to that color conclusion so you can repeeat it. Also I think that if one brand bait was heavily salted, and the other brand wasnt, and they were put in the same compartment, some funky things may occur, like bonding,or fusing, maybe melting.

Anyone familiar with the Manns Hardnose Flippin Craw?
I just picked up a Bulk bag of these in Black and Blue and would like to get some feedback on this particular bait. Anyone use it? Whats the best presentation. Pros and cons of the bait? Overall opinion?

How do you kill a catfish?
Be mean to it,say insulting things, tease it,tell it that its mom never loved it,give it a guilt trip about being alive and a bottom feeder. The catfish will kill itself!!

What are you going to try in the new year?
Ive done really well in the past with a Dropshot, but I was using really small baits,so I was catching Bluegill as well as Dink bass.I think im gonna try to "up" the size of bait I use on my Dropshot, hoping that will get me some better fish. I may also try some Beaver baits,as everyone says theyre really good.May try some Shakey head presentations as well. For now im gonna make an effort to throw some Lizards and get some bedding fish.I havent fished during the spawn since the mid 90's

Id like to hear everyones opinions about these
Thats what I was thinking.People have written books about different subjects related to the science of fishing. Ive even heard that fish have no pain receptors,so when they get hooked they dont feel it. Um did Mr. Largemouth tell someone that for a fact, how do people know what a fish can see,how it sees it,and how a Bass portrays taste among other things. Until a Bass can talk,we can only guess on such things.

A local tackle shop carries them and they go for $5.99 for 2 baits. I dunno but Im gonna call shenanigans on this idea. Any thoughts on this new concept? http://www.uv-tackle.com/

Sizmic shaker worm
I REAALLYYY Like this worm. I put it on a Megastrike Shakey Jig Head, messed around with it in my 55 Gallon Aquarium and the action was amazing.Im stoked to get on the water and try it out. The tail rides high and quivers with the least bit of effort. Anyone know where I can get more? Ive tried Sizmic.com and its part of the Uncle Josh company, and they dont have any of these listed. Is it a discontinued item? Link below gives a description and pic of the worm in question. http://www.probass.net/protips/JeffBruhl/jb25.php Thanks for the help everyone.

Best way to punch through Milfoil?
Ya know I never considered doing a vertical cast and allowing the weight to Blast through that way. Seems a little akward, and unconventional but I may give that a try. Gravity is a good thing!!

Anyone ever use a HOGG ASSASSIN

Best way to punch through Milfoil?
The lake I fish has heavy(VERY HEAVY) mats of Milfoil all around the bank. So thick in fact that in some spots I cant even park my boat in order to get on the bank and have a shore lunch or even to relieve myself. Im always getting it snarled up in my TM prop too.If the wind blows enough my 10' boat drifts into this stuff and its aggravating getting back out. I know that this is the "Jungle" and many a Bass resides in this mess. Whats the best way to punch through this stuff and get into where the fish may be? I have always steered clear of this stuff, the only time I fish it is with a weedless Frog or similar topwater and then the only thing I have caught is Bullfrogs

chatter bait replacing spinner bait?
So the Chatterbait craze started because a few tournaments were won on them and people started Hoarding them?

chatter bait replacing spinner bait?
A chatterbait should compliment a spinnerbait,If Chatterbaits are actually as good as some make them out to be.

chatter bait replacing spinner bait?
Ive never thrown a Chatterbait, but Last year I stocked up on Spinnerbaits and while I didnt catch any monster Fish,I did alright I suppose. I was able to catch and release my fair share so I have confidence in a Spinnerbait. I have been hearing about Chatterbaits and been reading alot of mixed reviews. Some say they are absolutely great baits and catch lots of fish, and others say they are just junk.I wont know truely until I try one out and force myself to fish it. I recently picked up a Berkley Jointed Blade Dancer http://www.great-lakes.org/graphics-2/Berkley/rev-12-17-07/4BladeDancerJntd.jpg I may Have to give it a try
