I have a 30# Motor Guide HVT 3000 trolling motor I want to mount on the Bow of my 10 ft Jon Boat. A guy at BPS tells me that Motor Guide TM's dont have a reversible control head,so if I want to do this ,I will have to buy a Minn Kota or something else. Was he correct,or was he just trying to get me to buy a different trolling motor?

I understand the design of the Owner hook mentioned above,but would an alternative work? By alternative I mean taking a Zoom Horny Toad hook and using a rubber core twist lock sinker on the hook,with the rubber core romoved and the sinker crimped tightly against the shank of the hook? Lets take the whole "Keel" weight out of the equation,Would Zoom Horny toad hooks work with most of these Rage baits as alot of them recommend a 4/0 or 5/0 hook. I ask this because I currently have Horny Toad hooks,and dont have the funds at the moment to go out and purchase the size of hooks recommended for these Rage baits... Heck I cant even get anything that size locally. The only tackle sold in town is sold at Wal Mart and they only carry sizes up to 3/0

Think I got confused with the red shad color. I read places where people were slaying fish on a Berkley Power Worm in Red Shad color. That color stuck in my head when I choose the 10" anaconda for some reason. May have been too,that if I throw a Bama craw colored 7 incher and dont get anything at all,and have a 10 inch in the same color im not likely to have confidence in throwing the 10 incher. Guess im experimenting a little.

Went to BPS today and purchased 1 pack each of the following baits: Rage 7 Inch Anaconda-BAMA CRAW color Rage 10 Inch Anaconda-RED SHAD color Rage Space Monkey-BAMA BUG color Rage Lobster-WATERMELON RED & BLACK color Rage Craw-CALIFORNIA CRAW color Rage Shad-GREEN PUMPKIN color Rage Toad-GREEN PUMPKIN color So now I have all these choices and colors,whats everyones top producer(bait)/color. How did I do with the choice I made as far as colors? Ive heard good things about all these baits.Anyone in particular I should try first? Whats the best way to rig and present each of these? I know the toad and shad are best weedless and fish as a topwater. Ive heard about a keel weighted rig,is this just a swimbait hook? I know theres a video about some of these questions Ive asked,I would like personal first hand accounts. Im hyped and itching to try these out. Thanks for the responses.

Well tahts one I totally forgot about,id have to agree that a topwater bite is awesome,and heartstopping. Now im torn between the Jig/Worm bite and the topwater strike being my favorite. :-/

By this I mean do you prefer the plastic worm/Jig bite where you have to time it just right and then cross thier eyes? Or do you all prefer the bite like fishing a spinnerbait,where you are on a retrieve and then suddenly theres a fish on,and depending how big it it,it just about rips the rod out of your hand. I like the soft plastic/jig bite myself. I like timing it right and then feeling the weight and struggle of the fish as I rear back on the rod. Sometimes it doesnt happen like that and its a swing and a miss,but for me as long as thier biting,it captures my attention,and keeps me motivated. Remember swings(hooksets) dont cost you anything ,so swing all you want

I like to fish soft plastics alot,including Weightless Senkos. Prior to this year I used to let the wind rule me out on the water. I even had the wind chasing me off and making me going home as I really HATE wind.This year ive started throwing Spinnerbaits and can honestly say,the wind hasnt chased me off yet. I make the best of it by throwing spinnerbaits,when it calms down then I throw Senkos and such. One of the only problems I have with the wind is,it catches my spinnerbait in mid cast and sometimes sends it into the trees or off target. Im sorta at a disadvantage when it comes to casting from my boat as its a small 10" Jon boat and I have to fish while sitting down,the boat is really shakey when theres too much movement..

Ive read somewhere that spinnerbaits work best on Overcast days,and a little chop on the water helps too. What is the best color of blade to throw on an overcast day? Ive heard its the gold colored blades as they give of the most flash. Is this true? What about skirt color? Is there a best overall color to use in overcast situations? Basically can anyone school me on Fishing spinnerbaits on an overcast day?

I fell in love with them yesterday. I have fished them before,but wasnt serious about catching fish with them. Yeterday I caught 4 fish on them,3 of them came while I was clearing a backlash. When they say "The fish bite and wont let go",they arent kidding. Im not sure if it was the feeding mood the fish were in or if it was the bait,but on 2 of the fish,the worm went deep,(as did the hook) with only the very front of the worm being left exposed. These fish were small and I didnt want to perform surgery,so I clipped the line and turned em loose,with hopes they would make it. I have new found respect for Berkley Brand baits...Question I have though,why do some packages smell different from others,is it a difference in the formula? Older stuff smells like fish,and the newer stuff seems to have a citrus scent to it. Is it just me or does everyone else notice this? Does it make any difference in the catch rate?

Throw em enough and they will stretch and begin to float,thus losing thier action.Im not to happy with the price. Before they went on clearance they were about $3.50 for a pack of 4 baits. Thats right up there with the GYCB Senko as far as price. I have used the 3X zero baits and will say they do catch fish,but for the price you can do better. You want a good bait? Go with *** Trick sticks!! Good quality product and very durable. Great service to boot!! Price is really reasonable too. Id say most,if not all people who have purchased from *** can say they are happy with thier purchase and would be a return customer.

I used some Clear JJ's yesterday. I was fishing a Senko style bait,We all know a properly made and designed stick bait will catch fish like crazy with no scent added. I do think JJ's gave me an edge though. If you look at the "my fishing trip " section,youll see one of the fish I caught on the bait soaked with JJ's. Using the same style and color bait soaked in JJ's I caught this one and hooked into another a little bigger that spit the hook as it charged hard under my boat.The fish pictured isnt HUGE by any stretch but it was nice to catch something that size after catching 10 inch fish all day. In my opinion,JJ's is more than "Just A Garlic Scent." If you watch the water when you first dip the bait in the water prior to casting,youll see some sort of Disbursing action coming off the bait,into the water. The fact that it permeates the bait and doesnt wash out,really has me sold on the product. I like the decent price and quick shipping too. When purchasing,it seems that it would be better to get the 3 pack,as the shipping charges are the same for shipping 3 bottles as they are to ship 1 bottle. Regardless,Im a believer JJ's does work... Thats my story and im sticking to it!!

I dont carry a scale so I did a girth and length on the fish. I measured the length at 9 .75 inches and the girth with the dorsal fin in the "up" position at 9 inches. How I did this is I used some braided line I have on the boat,took the measurements with the braided line, cut it according to the length and girth,and used a tape measure to check the length of each piece when I got home. According the calculator here on Bassresouce,This fish weighed less than a pound. I think state record for Az is like 2 pounds. I stand corrected,I just checked the record according to the Az game and fish website: Sunfish, Green 1 lb. 9 oz. 11.0 in., Parker Canyon Lake Paul Bennett, Sierra Vista 7/27/96 Guess what,The record was caught in the same lake I caught this bugeyed fish. Wonder if I should have had the one I caught certified? Ah well its too late now. I could always submit pictures for the yearly Catch and Release roster though. Lesson learned,Never go fishing without your camera,you dont know what youll catch!!

While Bass fishing today,I kept getting viscious strikes,but couldnt get hooked up. After this happening a few times,I lost my cool and was determined to hook into whatever it was that was slamming my bait. I hooked into it alright. It turned out to be a FAT (I mean FAT) Bugeyed Green Sunfish. Never seen one so bugeyed or Fat before. Is the Bugging of the eyes caused by age or its size. Could this fish be full of Eggs or is just a pig? In case this was a fish laden with eggs,It was photographed and gently released. It would have been released regardless

I have just started fishing spinnerbaits and have caught a fish on each of the ones I try. Ive used: War Eagle Strike King Spin Dance Luck E Strike Trickster Not sure at this point is 1 spinnerbait is better than any other,I do have my favorites though.

Just doing some day dreaming and thought about a situation,and wondered how it would play out. Lets say I was driving across the country on Vacation. While driving I see an body of water. Since I have my tackle with me,I decide to make a few casts. I end up landing a HUGE bass. I weigh it, it goes 22lbs 8 oz. I just landed the record,I want to get it certified,but dont have a fishing license for that state in my possession. Would it even be worth trying to certify the catch,seeings how it was caught without a license. I suppose it would probably create as much controversy as Dottie did when she was caught foul hooked. O BTW if I do any traveling in the future I will be purchasing a license for whatever state,even if it is to only fish for a few days. Just a thought,and curious to hear everyones resonse.

The local golf course here has some nice ponds on it. Ive heard people telling me there are some HUGE fish in there. I wanted to sneak on at night to catch some but decided to try and do it the right way. I went to the pro shop and asked to talk to who ever was in charge. I asked them if I could get permission to fish there. In order to fish the ponds,you have to become a member at a fee of $1000 a year. And on top of that, the pond is only open to fishing for members on Fathers day.Basically, what the lady said is theres no way of fishing the ponds unless your rich,stupid and really really want to fish those ponds. I talked to a friend who golfs there and he says the lady was feeding me Bull.He says theres absolutely NO fishing on the pond. They treat the grass with all sorts of chemicals which leech into the ground and eventually get washed into the pond with the rainwater. The golf course management fears that someone will keep a fish to eat and end up getting ill ,or worse. Obviously a big liability issue there. Keep this in mind if you ever decide to fish a golf course pond and why it may be off limits. As far as the stolen gear,I feel for ya. I had a bunch of tackle in a Backpack in the back of my truck and some Tweaker came and took it,then broke into my truck and stole my CD book with over 150 CD's. The worst part of this deal is having your stuff taken from you in broad daylight right in front of your face. Did you get a description of the truck? Id be searching for it.

I recently picked some of this stuff up in the 50# size. It appears and feels pretty stiff,is it because its new in the package? I havent tried spooling with it,waiting to see if its even worth doing it. Anyone have any feedback on this stuff?

Years ago when I was a youth,I had a guy fishing at the pond next to me. He was throwing a Hula Popper and had a leader tied to the back of it with another small cork fly rod popper on it,as a teaser. The guy got a huge strike on this setup,but broke off when the fish ran him into some submerged trees. I was thinking of the same setup except I wanna change it up a little. Instead of using a Cork Fly rod popper as a tease,I wanna use a smaller Hula Popper thats a twin to the larger one in the front. I want to connect the 2 poppers with a length of 50# braid perhaps 12-15 inches in length. Where should I tie the leader onto the larger Hula Popper? Do I tie it to the shank of the rear treble,or to the eye of that hook. Im wondrering how the tail of the larger popper will effect this whole setup. Any reason this shouldnt work? Any thoughts,suggestions,hints on this setup would be appreciated

I recently acquired this spinnerbait. Its made by HART TACKLE COMPANY. The bait is called a SHAKER Spinnerbait. Unique blade design The back of the package reads: Shake,Rattle but no roll is truly indicative of the original Hart Shaker. Its unique three-blade design has the top and bottom blades spinning clockwise while its middle blade spins counter clockwise. No other spinnerbait ever produced,creates as much flash and vibration Based on the colors of this bait and the design of the blades on this bait,would this be a good bait to use at night? Anyone ever fished one of these and how did it perform?
