  1. You were at MG weren't you? Come on, fess up! I know you were! ;D
  2. Here's the pic of the 6lber. Will get Brian's uploaded soon!
  3. Got out this evening with Brian. Met up with him at Black Hills for some shoreline fishing. We hit the Stick Ups, my first time hitting there this year. Brian started without me (lucky bum gets off work before I do. LOL) with one. Checked the water temp, 56! Decided to go with a spinnerbait and at first, thought my luck wasn't going to fair real well. Lost what I figured to be a 5-5 1/2 pounder about 5 feet from shore. :'( Fished for quite a while with no luck on both our parts. Decided to make a little more and what a great decision that was! Within 5-10 minutes, I landed a 3lb 10oz and Brian followed it up with one about 3. About right at sunset, I noticed a new laydown to the area so walked down a made a cast up past it. BANG! She it! I knew it was a good one but wasn't sure how good it was. Put her on the scale, 6 pounds even! Sadly it was too dark for a pic with my cell but luckily Brian's cell had a flash. Not the best pic, but given the conditions, I'll take it! Thanks for the assist on that one Brian! I owe ya! Thanks for the invite as well, as usual, had a blast fishing with you! I'll post a pic once I get it downloaded from the phone.
  4. Welcome to THE boards zezima! Am I reading it right that you caught 5 tigers at black hills in an hour? What were you using?
  5. Made it out saturday morning for a few hours. I hit Union Bridge Municipal Reservoir. First time hitting that place. DNR reports indicated there was a decent bass population in there. Water temps read 56. Had 2 hits on a jerkbait but didn't get a hook in either. I FINALLY got the monkey off my back though! Managed a decent one on a spinnerbait about 9:30 saturday morning. Found her on an isolated laydown out off a point.
  6. Sean, 36+ is a HUGE musky for a lake that when I was growing up the PA DCNR and PFBC insisted that there were NONE in the lake. You should see the size of the walleyes in that place where there are NONE. ;D I was night fishing there once, drowning worms for catfish with one of my buddies from back home. Guy throwing a jitterbug about 30 yds away gets freakin' BLOWN UP and lands one over 40". The park ranger had a tough time explaining that one away. ;D Nice. Yeah, I would've loved to hear the ranger stumble through that conversation! LOL! You know my opinion of lake muskies though.
  7. Come on SPEED! a 36" musky isn't even legal size in PA! Wait til they get in the mid 40 inch range! ;D They're the fun ones! And yes, I know, ya want to come down and fish with me for them. Give me some time to find them again. With the high waters we got so far, I have to figure out how it's affected the spots I've fished in the past or whether I need to find some new places. Haven't got my PA license yet but will be getting it at some point here! What's the scoop on Sayers? Have seen anyone mention it yet.
  8. Got out this morning for about an hour. Mainly just trying out the new spinnerbait rod I got last week. Hit the C&O in Williamsport. No takers but actually rememebered my thermometer! Left it in the water for about 20-25 minutes and got a temp reading of 51-52! Say hello spinnerbait time in there! ;D ;D ;D I'm really gonna like this new rod! Was slow rolling a spinnerbait in there and could feel everything. Was more than time for an upgrade!!!
  9. Was a little off on the levels for last year. It was almost 26'. Here's the thread that I posted last year. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1268605132
  10. Welcome to THE boards Fat Boy! I work in Germantown so get to fish Black Hills from time to time (typically lunchtime excursions). Sorry to hear about the auto accident! Heal up soon so you can wet some lines! Those big girls in Black Hills should be waking up real soon! Oh, just a side note on the condition of the Potomac right now. The river gauge I track has the river over 16' above "normal flow". Last look had the gauge I follow at 20.25' and still rising. If memory serves me right, its now up to the levels of the "big flood" last year. Think that one peaked at 21-22'. Will have to get some pictures IF its safe to get to Dam 4 again. Won't attempt that same trip I made last year to get the pictures!
  11. I do like the Rogues, even though they are a little on the light side. X-raps are great in warm weather for me. Started playin around with Daiwas DB minnow some last year too and had some success with them. I also throw Bombers Long A's once in a while too.
  12. Brian and I fished "the tubes" down by the boat ramp last evening at Black Hills. No takers but did see some bluegill swimming around the rip rap. The backwash area was pretty bad but still saw some baitfish on that side too. Main lake side was definitely better. Threw some jerkbaits, jigs and plastics at them between the two of us. Thanks for the invite Brian, always a good time fishing with you!
  13. Ah, the first lunch time outing at Black Hills this year. Only brought a spinning rod with some jigs. Made about 10 casts during my lunch break. No takers. Will start getting out more in the near future. The new spinnerbait rod will be here next week! Can't wait to get my hands on it!!!
  14. Got a quicker reply than I expected for DNR! Here's word for word on what he shared with me. "Our 2010 survey actually found more mosquitofish and killifish in Black Hills (Little Seneca Lake) than we had in years past. The bass population was in great condition (good size, good numbers, and good reproduction). The only down note for us was the discovery of multiple year classes of Yellow Perch (also in Clopper Lake now)." I did ask a few follow up questions that I'll share as well. Lee, gonna try to get out at some point! Its a 3 day weekend for me so I'm sure I will at some point. Hopefully everyone else can get out as well. I usually want the meanest nastiest weather this time of year but I'll take some of this weather anytime! ;D
  15. I finally got a chance to shoot my contact with DNR a message today. Hopefully, it won't take too long to get an answer. I didn't catch your request about a shad stocking til now. :-/ When I get a reply, I'll shoot a follow up email to them asking if that's something they're considering.
  16. Hey Chris, hitting the gym just 3 times a week? That's it? LOL! Been hitting the gym for the last 6 weeks or so myself. Can't wait to hit the water with ya this year sometime so I can see these casting skills! ;D Welcome back Basser714! I'm getting ready to finally upgrade my spinnerbait rod on friday, can't wait for it to get here! I had a BAD '10 year in general. Black Hills yielded one decent bass and that was just a tick over 4 pounds. The '09 season is when I landed my PB out of there at 6 pounds 9 ounces. Chris (again) ;D That's some good information about the shad. I know a couple guys with DNR so maybe I can feed your observations to them and see if they can offer any insight. If I get anything back from them, I'll post their finding on here for everyone to see.
  17. Anyone getting out this weekend? I won't be able to (Dad commitments). Look forward to reading some reports!!! Hellbender, you better at least be working on your jig presentations! ;D
  18. Hey Brian, Levels looked promising for you yesterday but today it's rising pretty good! Over a 3' rise today alone and no signs of slowing up yet. Watch yourself if you make it out this weekend! Obviously that goes for everyone!
  19. Very cool Nate! Congrats! Now get out there and find some of those toothy critters on the mighty Juniata! Oh, and invite me up to catch them with you! LOL!
  20. Not sure if you'd qualify as a walleye fisherman or not but I catch them on the Potomac as well while chasing smallies.
  21. I have a Quantum Energy that I used for flipping and pitching. Mine is the 7'6" H. I haven't had the opportunity to check out Hackney flipping stick but my bet would be you wouldn't be disappointed with it.
  22. Sorry about that! I was thinking you were talking about a series like ABA or FOM. This is a south central club. If memory serves me right, they're Cumberland Valley (help me out there Matt!). I haven't joined the club, but mjhutch is my cousin so I know a little bit about them.
  23. It's a club tourney.
  24. Hey bigdog, The walk is about 10-15 minutes to the actual discharge area. You go up the canal path til you see a red arrow on a tree (someone must have just put it on there cause I don't remember seeing it before). Right off the path, when its warmer, it can get a little sloppy for about 10-20 feet or so and then its ok again. Once you weave back through the woods, you come right out to the lower end of the discharge. It's not too bad. I've had minor back problems for a good while now and if you take your time, I don't think you'd have any problems. There is a path straight across from the parking lot but from the limited experience in that area, it's way too shallow. There's another spot I tried a couple weeks back (that is down to the left of the parking lot) that used to be pretty good but levels aren't right for it right now and you have to go through a spot that's nothing but blown over trees and trees that got washed in there from high waters. The discharge area can get a little muddy or even icy but right now, with no rain or snow, its good. I think for PEPCO to be a productive spot, the water levels need to come up about a foot to a foot and a half. So if you track any of the river gauges, what ever it is right now, it's too low in my opinion. Hope this helps! If ya need any more information, let me or any of the other guys on here that fish there know!
  25. Wow! That's a run! The early bird SPEED and I fished was on THE worst lake in PA! LOL! I haven't fished the 4 locks area before. When I'm on the river, I usually hit between Williamsport to Dargen Bend. Add in shore fishing down at Dickerson and that's about the limit to my MD river experience. :-/
