  1. is it true that red dissapears in the water below a certain depth ??? would that make the red line superior to any other color line ?? i know other companies state this about red line but is it a sales gimmick or is it true ??? . was wondering cause i was interested in trying the phantom red power pro , i hear there was issues with dye bleed but it's fixed now so should i try it or stick with moss green ???
  2. yeah , i guess it not panning out would have been nice, huh !!! to bad baitcasters don't have multiple line capacities for their reels like spinning reels do . what it comes down to is instead of buying 150 yd. spools of power pro , i'll just get 300 yd. spools or if i got extra $ , i'll get the 1500 yd. spools ..... thanks for all the feed back
  3. Yep.So back to the question.Which is worse?? These are the questions which cannot be answered, such as the meaning of life. I would prefer the big bite. Just get it over with as soon as possible then I know I am too broke to give in to any nickel and dime tactics. :-/ it seems as tho it never works out like you want it to , cause if he gets a big bite and you swear off little bites , he will ALWAYS sneak in a bunch of small bites NO MATTER HOW STRONG YOUR WILL IS
  4. My STX has replaced a CTE200GT on a G.Loomis MBR844C. I am using this rod & reel as my dedicated jig rig. It's working out fine with minor tweaks, but no major adjustments. I plan to fish this through the winter and decide whether or not to keep the reel next spring. 8-) your a good sport , i probably should not of poked fun at you about using the Abu , i read that you are dedicated to shimano reels ....
  5. does any one use the improved cinch knot when tying multiple treble-hooked lures , and if so have you had the knots fail ??? i use them alot for lipless crankbaits and other crankbaits and have never had a knot fail. i know they are not recomended but don't understand why . yes , i use a palomar knot on everything else ....
  6. that's exactly what im talking about !!!!! thats the reason for my question . lets say i was looking for a flourocarbon line instead of a braid , everyone knows that flouro manufactures sell numerous capacity spools of their product , so getting the right spool size is important ...... thankyou so very much , i just wish there was a chart available ...
  7. im also interested in this thread too , your recommendation i can consider VERY VERY GOOD since you know alot of ''in depth knowledge'' about these reels
  8. yeah , i have previously read it , so the debate still goes on !!!??? btw , are you still using yours ??? ;D
  9. i want to ask you , since you got them on EBAY , did you also see the 52st toadsters and did you get them , they looked nice . btw , i love frog fishing , if you can tell me of other not-so-well-known frog to use id appreciate it greatly . can't find nothing better than the CANYON PLASTICS 4.5'' frogs pictured below .....
  10. yeah their sold on e-bay , i love to frog fish , nothing like topwater hookups !!!! but i was wondering how these things fish , so you say they sink , that's not good i don't mind if it SLOOOWLY sinks , i like to let my frogs swim a little below the surface between mats and thru wispy vegatation . the guy who makes these lures says they are molded from a real frog , but if there is no bouyancy , it looks as tho i won't get them .... thanks !!
  11. it seems as though there is 2 totally opposite veiws on this brake set-up , MICRO says it's harder than the SX and STX , then CART7T says it's easier than the SX and STX !! the reason i want to know is that im looking into getting the REVO S cause i think the REVO line of reels is whats best for in my price range (budget) and im gonna get three of them to go on some OKUMA rods , so if it's gonna take a few more dollars to add to my budget , than should i get the SX ?? yeah , i would love to get the STX , but that's not really feasible any time soon . i want all three reels the same on my rods so i can be comfortable when i pick up another rod while im fishing and be able to set it up alot quicker ....
  12. yeah im gonna , im gonna be purchasing all new gear soon , 3 REVO S's and 3 (pretty set on getting them) OKUMA swimbait rods . so once i get them ill be set . btw , right now im using all spinning gear and pushing it's limits , so im in dire need of upgrades !!!! thanks for the feedback on this ''line matter'' , i wanted this info for researching about what baitcaster to get , and since im on a budget , i wanted to get the best i can get within my means . so i think the REVO S has all the right stuff and is made very good and has good line capacity , i like ALOT OF line , i like to drop shot DEEP ! and once i get the OKUMA's , im gonna be launching BIG swim baits as far as i can and fish them deep also ..
  13. : : : is there some thing you find ironic about what i said ???
  14. yeah , got's to laugh at that . but i ain't gonna lie , i would love to have an energy pt or tour pt ......
  15. has any one tried bogsbait 7'' custom hand-poured frogs ??
  16. kinda reminds me of a ''flip sider''........
  17. im stubborn ;D , i always figure that if i have a full reel of the same line and i get a horrific wind knot and can't or don't want to spend the time to take it out , that if i just cut it off , i'll still have plenty of line left . so i really just choose to do it that way and am pretty sure im not gonna change . i just want to see if there is a conversion chart for the different line tests (lbs.) anyone , i think it would be beneficial to many besides myself . You'd want a capacity chart based on line diameters, not breaking strengths. yeah , my mistake . i want to convert line dia. , so for example , a reel says 12# 140 yds. , then how much 8# . and so on . i use pretty much all braid all the time , and you know how much thinner it is compared to mono and flouro in the same pound test ...
  18. anybody ??? , any body close to where i live ?????
  19. how did you fish the anaconda ? texas-rigged, weightless , w/bullet sinker , swim it , twitch it on the bottom ??? I was throwing it t-rigged and weightless right at the edge of grass lines off points. Fished it very slow, twitching/ short sweeps. I wanted a bait that would move some water and the anaconda's tail seemed to do the trick. They really nailed it. thank you , i'll give it a try , sorry to the OP , didn't mean to interupt your post topic
  20. i would get the REVO S , that's what im gonna get !!! i have heard so much good things about the S that i feel confident that it is the best choice .......
  21. well , i was hoping for one , i guess i'll just have to get big spools or just have to guess ... thanks
  22. my opinion is that if your a true bass fisherman , YOU WOULD NEVER KILL A BASS !!!!! much less so you can mount it on the wall , shame on you for even asking a question like that . i would not even think of killing or mounting this 25 lb. monster ......
  23. how did you fish the anaconda ? texas-rigged, weightless , w/bullet sinker , swim it , twitch it on the bottom ???
  24. Well this reel came out in 2000 which was well before the PT. I'd say that the PT looks too much like a Ryobi
