  1. they(Duckett) uses some blanks made in china , NFC blanks , come on :
  2. change out all baits to Owner ST-41's , best treble hook out there
  3. I only use Pro cure super gel , best stuff in my opinion ! I use the crawfish , rainbow trout , threadfin shad ,and trophy bass scents . Use this on all plastics and swimbaits !!!!
  4. oh yeah !! i live for summer frog fishing , the best and most exciting way to fish for big bass
  5. try a strike king red eye shad !!! those things catch me fish all the time even in the most highly pressured ponds/lakes ..........
  6. the red eye shad that won last years classic is a bait that straight out catches fish , period
  7. the way i fish my soft plastic frogs (Canyon Plastics 4.5" frog) is that i use a buzz style frog and that i fish it pretty slow , actually i fish it as slow as i can , just fast enough to keep it moving (legs churning) and i keep the rod tip up high causing a bow in the line (50 lb. braid) so when you get a strike , the fish will take up the slack and you DON'T have to wait 3 seconds or feel the fish on the line cause when the fish blows up on your bait , you just set the hook and the fish will be on !!! so for you guys having hook up problems , remember , keep your rod tip up high and keep a bow in your line and you will see dramatic increases in fish in your boat
  8. look nice !!! so Matt , you say they swim great ? gonna have to get some , you gonna go to to Fred hall show in long beach ????
  9. haven't checked those out yet , gonna do it right now !!! ;D
  10. It's better swimming , Matt's is better for bed fishing which I don't and never will do . In the water , the Rago gill looks awe some and runs good at slow speed retrieves ..
  11. i think the title of your post says it all !!! i hate hollow bodied frogs ! i only use Canyon Plastics 4.5" frogs with a single hook ( owner twist lock in 5/0 with changed out CPS screw locks to the bigger ones ) , get a lot better hook ups with a single hook , here is the frog --
  12. when i drop shot , i use a small wide gap hook . i get 3 times better hook ups than by nose hooking !! so try a wide gap hook just big enough to provide clearance for the bait and you will be good to go . just don't put too big of hook on it that it impedes the action
  13. use a Jerry Rago blue gill swimbait !!!!
  14. my friend says the Vicious pro elite fluorocarbon is some very good line , he keeps telling me to get a spool and try some but i use Toray and see no reason to since Toray is the best you can get even though it is pricey , you get what you pay for as far as fluorocarbon lines go , btw, i use the super hard strong line of toray
  15. I use pro cure super gel scents on all my soft plastics and swimbait . Their scents (pro cure) are made out what ever scent you get for example the crawfish scent is made out of real crawfish !! Anyway , I use the crawfish , trout , and trophy bass scents all the time and love them , just couldn't ever get into those garlic scents ...
  16. been waiting for awhile for them to get their line back out on the shelves !! you can't get any better line then Gamma co-polymer for throwing big swim baits !!! that line is STRONG !!!!
  17. hate to rehash old news but that fish was UN-INTENTIONALLY foul hooked , if Jed would of kept it , it would of been the world record , IGFA would have allowed a fish caught that way , but as it went down in history , he let it go BTW , i just wanted to post this so people don't get the wrong idea that this fish was hooked and caught in a non sporting way . i'm pretty sure that we all have at sometime or another swung on a jig fish and un-intentionally hooked outside of the mouth , am i right ???
  18. braid= Cortland Masterbraid , power pro , Daiwa samurai mono/co-poly = Izorline XXX , P-line CXX and CX fluorocarbon = Toray super hard strong , Sunline sniper.
  19. a very productive color for lizards (especially on a carolina rig) is black w/ blue flakes or what alot of companies offer is june bug .
  20. try an Owner twist lock hook in 5/0 , but to make it better , purchase the bigger CPS springs Owner sells separately , get the "large" size (1/4") , i replace all of my twist locks with the larger CPS's and they work fantastic !!! i will always go with a single hook rather than a double hook . you will notice alot better hookup's
  21. should be quality made . Decoy makes good stuff , i use their snaps exclusively . but as far as replacement treble hooks go , i only use Owner ST-41's as there is nothing on the market that comes close to comparing to them ....
  22. the customer service at Abu Garcia is awesome !! talk to Michelle or Nissa , they both are always very helpful when i buy parts or check on parts
  23. i guess some one was digging thru past threads !!!! ;D , but to answer your question , yes that rod would be sweet for jigs , BTW , i still have my 7' XH carrot stix and it has held up thru hundreds and hundreds of bass !!!
  24. try an Owner oversized worm hook in either 7/0 or 11/0
  25. Hardware store, Home Depot, Lowes all carry o rings and shrink tube. A soda straw will work in a pinch but is not as durable. Bring a worm with you to be sure on the size. Side note, I love these hooks: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0037619119810a&type=product&rid=0123456789&cm_mmc=PPC-_-Google%20Non%20Brand-_-fis_Terminal%20Tackle_Hooks-_-owner+mosquito+hooks you should try the Owner wacky hooks , for 5" stick baits i use the 1/0 size , they are the best hook for wacky rigging you could use , give them a try !!
