  1. those hooks are not that strong , i replace them with Owner ST-41's (size 4)
  2. get the Kanji weights , priced right and are good http://www.***.com/Kanji_Senkin_X-Metal_Bullet_Weight/descpage-KJSBW.html
  3. this is gonna be locked in 3 ...2....1...
  4. i have always felt that 50 lb. braid is way more than plenty for frogging , i usually use 30 lb. power pro . i have on 50 lb. power pro , had an extra spool for catfishing so i spooled up my Revo SX HS , i couldn't imagine using 65 lb. !!!! :-?
  5. gonna be good competition for shimano's CI14 , they both cost the same , but i think the pflueger looks better plus the flat eva handle grip feels better ( i know it's the one on the Revo premier) ..
  6. favorite frog is the Canyon plastics 4.5" frog http://www.***.com/Canyon_Plastics_Frog/descpage-CPF.html
  7. Canyon Plastics 4.5" frog !!!!
  8. a preview review on this reel ... http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpfluegerspinningpreICAST10.html
  9. was wanting a Shimano ci14 , but one look at this reel and i've changed my mind !!! it's the new Patriarch Spinning reel from Pflueger ,it is a Magnesium reel and looks sweet , i want not one but two !!!!
  10. i would take the space monkey and rage toad and make them 3 times larger than they are ready are !!!!
  11. Revo toro's , Revo toro winch , and the curado 300 will definetly handle baits over 5 oz. , alot of muskie guys use these reels for the baits they throw and their baits weigh ALOT !!!(5-15+ oz.) most swimbaits are easy to retrieve , i feel deep diving crankbaits are harder on a reel than swimbaits no matter what size !!!
  12. you want the best finnesse line , try some P-line 6 lb. CXX . in moss green . this line is strong , managable , and blends in any water .
  13. i get longer casts with braid than mono , it has to do with braid flying straighter thru rhe guides than mono that has some memory causing loops which cause more friction going thru the guides . so by my experience , braid will cast farther , don't care who did any tests !!! by the way , i use mostly 30 lb. and 50 lb. braid for my baitcasters and 10 lb. for my spinning reel .
  14. if you completely palm your reel (pinkie and ring finger next to the trigger ) an ACS 17mm is the most comfortable and best reel seat made .....
  15. never seen a Aero reel seat mounted backwards !! how comfortable is that ?? i would think that having your hand on the reel seats threads would not be comfortable .
  16. i've tried double hooks before , both brands plus gama's and Owner's and i prefer a single hook !! i get way better hook up ratio with a single wide gap hook , will never try a double hook again , just my opinion .....
  17. i'm pretty sure you are gonna love those canyon plastics frogs , did you get the 4.5" ones ? they are the only frogs i use !! you can run them real slow and the legs will kick nice and steady . if you let them sink into open pockets , twitch them real slowly like a fluke and then let them swim freely and if there is a bass around he will crush it !!! keep your rod tip up and cause a bow in your line , when a fish hits the bait it will take up the slack and then set the hook !! you don't need a huge hook set , just a quick tug on the line will set the hook . i use 5/0 Owner twist lock hooks with the CPS changed out to the bigger 1/4" ones (they sell them seperately for a few bucks) these hook and bigger CPS's are the way to go , iv'e been fishing them ( the Canyon Plastics frogs) for a couple of years now and they are the only frog i stock in my tackle bag . if you have any questions about them , shoot me a PM
  18. excellent if you fish in places that have no grass !!! where i fish there is a ton of grass on the bottom , that's why i prefer a drop shot rig instead of a shakey head set-up . if i were fishing shell beds , gravel bottoms , sand , etc... i would be fishing them alot !!
  19. stock some 4 1/2" or 6" robo worms in any color you choose and pack along some drop shot weights !! dropshotting will catch you fish when all else fails
  20. i feel the same way about right handed retrieve baitcasters !!!! it feels funny just to try to palm the reel like i do with my lefties !! and it is not about "weak hand" "strong hand", it is what ever hand you learn to work the rod with , you crank with the other hand ......
  21. i like to use an erratic jerking retrieve with tubes and seem to get bites when i dedicate time to it , it is just hard to when dropshotting 6" worms produce so well .......
  22. you bet !!! this is prime time for deep diving crankbaits , alot of fish are settling out in deeper water and with the warming of the water , they are getting fired up
  23. that is the definition of "punching" , putting baits into grass is "flipping" or "pitching" in my books . for punching , i go a minimum of 1 oz. weight , with a Yum Craw Papi or a Berkley chigger craw or the crazy legs version
  24. 8" Hudd in trout color , ROF 16 ..............
  25. one of the best nighttime baits for me is to throw a plastic buzz frog (i only use Canyon plastics 4.5" frog) and let it sink a little and go with a slow retrieve , letting the bait run BELOW the surface . i find this works great for in places i night fish there is no light at all , i just cast it out parallel to the shore ,about 3' out from the bank (or tullies) and just a consistent wind and when i feel a hit i pause for just a half second and then set the hook !!! http://www.***.com/Canyon_Plastics_Frog/descpage-CPF.html
