  1. Got drunk last night and gave in to the bait monkey at about 1 am and ordered a 7'8" H Magnesium for punching grass and frog fishing this summer. Bought it straight from Kistler and saved $35 with a promotional code on the website. Now have to decide which reel to stick on it!!
  2. Fished the oilmans this weekend also. Caught 11.8 pounds the first day. 13 fish on,boated seven and 6 shook off after 3 or 4 seconds and a couple of them felt like very nice fish. Sat we weighed in 10.9 and had 18 fish on, lost 10 fish. Ive never had so many fish get off like this dont know what was going on. We finished up in 92nd out of over 600 teams, if we could have landed a couple kicker fish that got off we would have been in serious contention. Very frustrating but we had a blast. Out of two days we seen 4 other boats were we were fishing. We launched out of Jolly Roger and fished the cow bayou area. Every fish was caught(and missed on a white/chartreuse chatterbait with one being caught on a watermelon game hawg. Biggest fish boated was 3.75. This was my first time fishing Toledo Bend and it was an awesome experience. You guys that get to fish that place regular are very lucky! I was pretty excited to finish where we did with the conditions we were fishing in. My partner boated most of the fish because I was too stuborn to stay with the chatterbait! I will always have one handy from now on.
  3. If that all I had to spend I would opt for the 7'6" Bionic Blade in Heavy paired with the Daiwa Megaforce for $129. You may have to cough up an extra $20 but it would be worth it vs flipping with an ugly stick. Its under Bass Pro's combos.
  4. #1 lake in SE Louisiana would have to be Lake Cataouache just south of HWY 90 in between New Orleans and Raceland. Action should be picking up very soon.
  5. Went out yesterday for the first time in 6 weeks mainly to run the boat. Post front conditions and low 45* muddy water= skunked. Did find an 18' hole that I had not seen before and it had fish piled up in it on the sonar. Tried dropping a jig to em without sucess. Tried a 10" worm also, just could not get them to bite. Wish I would of had a heavy Spinner bait to slow roll along the bottom. If you can catch fish in these conditions you get my respect.
  6. I have 4600 C4 mounted on a Allstar MH that I keep spooled with Braid and use for Saltwater fishing as well as fishing Jigs and frogs. Smooth casting reel. I usually throw a popping cork rig with it with no backlashes.
  7. Its definitly a bonus to be able to pick up a few nice reds while Bas fishing as you get the best of both worlds. You cannot beat the challenge a preperation of Bass fishing and on the other hand you cannot beat the fight of a nice Redfish, especially on Bass gear! Something I really appreciate...
  8. Actually yes I did buy it from walmart. I tested it by using a polomar knot to the scale eye and also to a metal ring then slowly pulled until the line broke. The 10# P-Line out did the 12# vanish everytime. Neither of the lines broke at the knot but in the middle each time. I am sure there are better performing flouros out there but for now I will stick to co-poly . To each his own.
  9. Back to the drawing board...First time ive been skunked liked this in a long time. Weather man said 6mph winds, that turned into 16 mph and the water was very dirty needless to say no Bass and one 23" Redfish that made a pretty good dinner!
  10. Here is one I just caught this morning. Late Fall and winter you better be ready for a fight while Bass fishing because they are everywhere! Caught this one one the same H2o crank with a BPS MH Crankin Stick spooled with BPS 12#Mono. What a fight!!
  11. Knowing before each trip the the Bass of my life time may be waiting for me. The so many ways and techniques of Bass fishing. The equiptment...I am definitly an equiptment junky! How boring would it be to rig up one rod to bring fishing which you can get away with fishing for trout and redfish. The short break from the rest of the world. The patience and skill it takes to be successful unlike other forms of fishing where all it takes is hitting a good tide and chunking out a cork with a peice of shrimp under it and you will more than likley have a good day. I compare Bass fishing to Deer hunting. They take more patience than other forms of hunting and fishing but are also more rewarding. I am all about the reward, I rather kill one nice buck a year than 100 ducks and I rather catch one 8 pound Bass a year than 1000 trout. I guess its not for everyone though because some of my friends think I am nutz which is why I fish mostly alone b\c none of my friends are as passionate about Bass fishing as I am. They just dont get it!!
  12. One day before a front comes through, wind is calm and water should be clear with overcast skies. Should be a good morning. Will post results tomorrow!!
  13. Here is a pic of one of many reds that fell in love with the sexy shad last weekend!!
  14. Broke at 8 pounds every time in the middle of the line not at the knot. Cant wait until my Yo-Zuri comes in the mail so I can this stuff off my reels asap. 10# P-line CX broke off at 11# and had less stretch than the vanish....I now beleive all the bad reviews ive read on this line.
  15. I have not used another crank since trying the square billed shallow diving sexy shad crank. The fis have been hammering this thing.. Awesome baits!
  16. The Central elite open was won this past weekend out of this lake and he let the cat out of the bag saying that we will host the 2011 Bassmaster classic here most likley out of the new marina they are building close by this lake.

I have been getting many compliments on my Avatar. I have a few more like it . Feel free to steal if you like. Nevermind, I have just noticed my Avatar was deleted by a mod....Dang it!
  19. Easy answer, Not boasting at all as my equipt is average. The main point is to let more expirienced anglers look at what im using for certain applications in hopes of getting a little advise to maybe tweak my arsenal for more efficient and effective fishing. I truly beleive in your only as good as your equipt not meaning you need a $300 reel, what I mean is you want the right reel and rod combo for your application. If your equipt is on par then the rest is up to you, your potential has no limit. I use this concept for everything I do whether it be racing stock cars or my job. Again you do not need to break the bank on equipt, spend what you can but the right stuff will always help you prosper and being humble and letting someone with more experience point you in the right direction could pay dividends. Hope this helps clear up your issue with people who post descriptions of there equipt.
  20. My frog set up is the one thing I know for sure is not typical for frog fishing but has gotten me bye for now. I plan on upgrading to a Heavy 7 footer for this in the future so I can definitly agree with your assesment there. Thanks
