  1. I'm quitting smoking, after 24 years, on Halloween. It won't be easy but it's time. I'll check your post to see how you're doing.
  2. I read the first 2 and am waiting for my wife to finish the 3rd so I can start that. I read on MSN, or some other site, that they just found another unpublished book of this series. I think they said it was the 5th in chronological order. So I'm guessing that someone has the 4th stashed away waiting for the right price.
  3. Snook, Thanks for the contact. That's a little too far south for me though.
  4. We grill fine, we just don't barbeque. What is Mojo anyway?
  5. Doing a Striper trip out of Belmar NJ on Sunday. Has anyone been out lately? Any luck? Any advice?
  6. I love catching pike. It's a wrestling match as soon as you hook up. Good eatin' in my opinion too!
  7. I'm applying the same theory with rods as I do with red wine. If I start drinking $40 or $50 bottles I won't be able to sit down with a $15 or $20 bottle and enjoy it. I am sticking with rods under $100 and wines under $20.
  8. U2 is one of the greatest bands of all time. They revolutionized rock in the early 80's and still manage to come up with a new sound every few years. A band can't stay relevant for 30+ years without seeming to be going a little "mainstream". I hate Nickelback
  9. Yes, Kinnelon NJ
  10. In an effort to show the bass something they haven't seen in a while, I picked up some "orange/lemonade swirl" Yum Dingers to fish on Saturday morning. We've had a lot of rain in the north east and temps are in the 50's at night and 60's during the day. Do you think it matters if I texas or wacky rig them? The lake is real shallow, mostly in the 4-7 foot range. Thanks
  11. When was the recap? I watched the premeir and I'm DVRing it. Hopefully I didn't miss anything.
  12. I picked up a Pflueger® Supreme® XT from "the bargain cave" a few months ago. They normally go for $129.99 but they occasionally put some in "the bargain cave" for $64.99. I like it a lot.
  13. ...but I have a question to post...
  14. FROZEN SQUID.... I love that idea. I'm in North Jersey only about 20 miles from Manhattan. My club is having a Triathalon next weekend (at least that's what we're calling it) to signal the end of warm/soft water fishing. We're doing a bass tourny in the morning followed by a bar-b-que and horseshoe tourny in the afternoon and ending with a catfish tournament from 8:00 until midnight. I will see if I can find some squid for a secret weapon.
  15. 10lbs. 7oz. on a chicken liver last weekend.
  16. don't bash me, but... what is the advantage of a 1/2oz model over a 3/8oz?
  17. Springsteen- Born to Run
  18. I was at work, in North Jersey, and saw it on TV in the cafeteria while getting coffee. My wife, pregnant with our first child, was on her way or at work in Manhattan. Communication lines were completely shut down almost immediately so I had no idea where she was at 8:45 am. I spent the day watching TV praying I'd see her again. Those of us who had family in NYC were sent home to deal with personal issues. Luckily that evening I got a call from her saying she was OK and staying at a co-workers appt. uptown. I was able to pick her up the next afternoon in Jersey City from the ferry. While a few friends did not come home from work that day, at least she was spared. Worst day of my life.
  19. Creeps and idiots cannot conceal themselves for long on a fishing trip -John Gierach Scholars have long known that fishing eventually turns men into philosophers. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to buy decent tackle on a philosopher's salary -Patrick McManus
  20. I've never tried "pizza chain" pizza.
  21. Has anyone tried dipping a Mattlures baby bass or other soft swimbait in JJ's of any color? I want to try it out but don't want to melt the only one I've got. Thanks in advance
  22. Nate, I have some soft stuff already and will give burning them a try. I also just picked up a Deps Highsider Jr. that I'll work slower. Wish me luck!
  23. I'm fishing in a night tournament at my lake in a few weeks. I was planning on concentrating on topwater stuff but am wondering if some type of subsurface swimbait might be a good idea. If baitfish are nailing bugs and stuff on the surface and they're what the bass are keying on, maybe a 5" yellow perch, or bluegill swimbait that runs at or just below the surface could catch a bunch of fish. If anyone has tried this and could give me some ideas or talk me out of it I would appreciate it.
  24. I picked one up last year and like it alot. Boat moves a little quicker and prop doesn't get bogged down with weeds as much.
  25. Anybody using the Heddon/Excaliber Spit'n Image? I just picked some up for an alternative top-water presentation and could use some tips if anyone has any.
