Lizard/Mudpuppy baits all season long?
A lizard is my favorite bait on a Carolina rig, and I throw one all year.

rage tail frog
Not only swear by them, but have two rod/reel combos just dedicated to them alone.

Pre made leader ?
I was doing that for a while, but never did find a real good way to keep them neat and organized, so I stopped pre making them.

Good quality spinnerbait
I have mine made custom by a local company. All I have to do, is tell him what style, size, color, etc. Great guy, too. I met him at an outdoor expo, and now I'll never go back to commercially made spinners or buzzbaits. http://www.rockyledge.com/rocky-ledge-bass-tackle-home.html

winter bass fishing after heavy rain
Slow roll a black/ blue Chatterbait with a matching Rage Tail Baby Craw. Seems to pick up a few, but it will probably be real tough. Good luck

Which Tow Vehicle
Quad cab Dodge Ram with a 5.7 Hemi. But out of your two choices, I'd say the Chevy, but who cares? Both will easily tow your boat, it's just a matter of what you like more, it's going to be you behind the wheel.

all the rage
They're all my favorites, but if I had to choose one, I guess I'd pick the Shad. I've caught bass on all the Rage baits, and with the lineup they offer, I can find just the right Rage Tail for any occasion.

First Trip Of the Year and I Owe a Thank you To Keri May......
Nice job, and yes, those Space Monkeys are money for sure. They are my buddy's favorite bait, but you should keep trying them all, 'cuz they are all outstanding!

cold fishing
If it were me, I'd try a smaller jig or chatterbait, both with a Rage Tail Baby craw trailer. If that doesn't work Carolina rig or drop shot something small.

In the spirit of the $$$ to spend, how to do it...
Attractant=Mega Strike! Weights=Tru Tungston all the way. As far as a decent, inexpensive spinning rig? I can personally recommend a Shimano Sahara, paired with a Shimano Compre MH fast action rod.

The right time?
9" swimbaits and 12" plastic worms probably would have gotten a funny look or two.

reviews on a Tru-life swimbait.
I bought two last year because the bait monkey told me to, and my buddy bought two because I did. I have never even tied one of mine on, but my buddy was fishing with me one day, and he was just wearing the bass out on the bluegill color all day.

SHIMANO REELS
I would agree. I've found Shimano to make good gear across the board, and you don't have to spend a fortune to get Shimano quality.

Just think how fat that world record smallmouth is getting!

Rage Craws
Tx rigged, keel weighted, stand up jig head, Carolina rig, jig trailer, even weightless. There's so many different ways to present this bait to catch fish. My favorite ways to use 'em, are as a trailer, or on a spot remover stand up jig(substitute a lobster here for even a bigger profile, or baby craw for smaller). Have fun with 'em, and plan on catching some piggies!

Owner Hooks
Hopefully you're not looking for one hook for all those types of rigs, right? The best I've ever found for the Tx rig, are the Twistlocks, usually a 4/0 or 5/0. For Wacky, I forget what they call 'em, but it's a light wire, weedless hook, and I usually go with 2/0 or 3/0. As for dropshot hooks, I haven't tried one yet, but for Carolina rigs, and split shot rigs, usually an Owner Octopus circle hook in a 3/0, nose hooked baits.

What are you trying/restocking this year?
At a fishing expo today, I scored some Mattlures soft bluegills, and some Sebile Magic swimmers. Never tried either. As far as re-stocking, I've been upping my selection of colors of the whole Rage lineup for a while now, because I love them all, but the real excitement for the year, are the new rods and reels I upgraded to this year. First time Shimano user. First time Revo user. First time Daiwa user. 2010 will probably be a year to remember, at least bass wise anyway.

Is a 6'3" something rod the right choice ?
I'd recommend a 7' MH fast. That's pretty good for most applications.
