  1. I fish 2 ways, serious and for fun. When I'm fishing serious I want no noise at all, I don't any one even close to me. When I'm on the jettie or fishing with a buddy, it's fun time. I'm probably more interested in my buddy catching fish than me, I catch nice fish almost everyday so it's no big deal. Much of the time I'm walking around on the jettie just ***ting, I can't tell you how many times I hand my rod with snook on to a little kid.
  2. I use outdated PP on all but 1 rig, I have Fins on that setup. I use nothing but spinning gear and 10# braid for freshwater. For the most part I fish saltwater, again it's spinning gear, 15# braid inshore and 20# braid offshore, I see no reason to fish heavier. I catch snook and tarpon up to 50# on 15# line, cobia, kingfish, amberjacks, sailfish and sharks up to 200# on 20# braid. Braid never slips on the reel, knots hold, and the line itself is like fishing with steel cable, it doesn't break. Not that I want to outlaw braid but it does give advantage to the fisherman.
  3. I have a Casio Commando, I've had it maybe 4 months or so. No problem charging off computer, just make sure your USB setting is on charge. I would prefer charging it off a wall socket, faster charge. I did buy the desk charging cradle, well spent $29., which is the only way I home charge now. For the rare times when my battery is a bit low when I'm out, I use a generic car charger for a few bucks that works fine.
  4. I keep few if any fish I catch, I'm not all that fond of eating most fish species, especially bass. I love catching bass, but I love catching many other species as much if not more. As Red Earth implies, there are a lot of bass out there, I agree. I just can't seem to put bass on a pedestal above other species, it's a sportfish, nothing more.
  5. I don't get overly emotional over any fish that dies, if I did I would not fish in the first place and seek a new activity. I have no intent to kill them but it does happen. Your best efforts in reviving fish sometimes are all for naught. How do people feel upon the pain and stress caused to a fish?
  6. I match my hook size to the bait size, not the fish. I have caught countless 20# and up fish on 1/4 oz jig heads, probably no more than a 1/0 hook, fly fisherman use even smaller hooks.
  7. I would agree with the above assessment of florocarbon, biggest waste of time, money and effort I have ever seen, no point at for using it in dirty water.
  8. As a rule I do not buy into this stuff but the Jamison twins predicted Irene many months ago, at the same time they predicted a second bad hurricane, could be Katia. The accuracy rate of the Jamison twins is almost unbelievable.
  9. I'd expect free shipping for $795.00
  10. Thanks to Doug for climbing down on the ledge to release her for me. We tried the beach for a while and no bites, I then tried the next 2 days and still not another bite, bait was everywhere too yesterday, that's snook fishing. The more bait the harder it is to catch them, they are too busy inhaling live glass minnows, they don't need your piece of plastic. Today is the opener, I'll be out there of course but will avoid any popular fishing spot, too many bait fisherman looking for that slot. The tide is near perfect this morning, I anticipate a decent day. Update: Conditions were poor, west light breeze, flat water, no snook..........BUT 1 tapon, hehe, rather catch one those guys instead anyway. Hooked this 30 pounder in heavy outgoing current, thought it was an overslot snook as it did not jump at first and only made about 2 aerial assaults. Worked this juvie back against the current to my lofted position about 12 feet above the sea wall. I then walk the fish back to an area with no railing and only about 6' above the water, my friend lowers the pier net..............fish in !
  11. You have to be real careful buying any gold or silver, lots of fake out there, see it a lot in tourist areas like Mexican vendors. Especially gold jewelry and chains, doesn't make any difference if the karat content is marked or not( acid is the only way to know for sure). Most people selling coins or bullion will go to a reputable dealer, not a pawn shop, good chance those coins were not really his. I sold a few hundred silver dollars a few years back to a dealer, each coin was bought on it's numismatic value. If genuine you made a good deal.
  12. Not that you can do anything about this. When I had my scrap chop and yard the locals would burn insulated copper wire in the alleys ( the copper wire was hot in more ways than one), police or fire dept chased the guys away and confiscated the scrap. Next stop my loading dock, it was time for Detroit's finest to add to their own personal retirement accounts.
  13. I seldom even take pictures. Bassn was with me the other morning and I caught decent snook, wasn't even hot to take that photo, thanks to Doug for fishin that nice lady out of the water and unhook her for me.
  14. The majority of my fishing is done a few hours before sunrise each morning, until a few years ago I didn't carry a flashlight but I do now. I fish from a beach or jettie that time of day and many times as previously mentioned there is enough moonlight to tie and unhook fish. In all fairness my species of fish and my fishing technique does not require line watching. This may be a of rant, lol but I HATE BAIT FISHERMAN. These peeps get on shore or jettie and they are camped out with lights all over the place, or those cap lights that they never turn off. Those lights are blinding especially when they turn to talk with you. Worse than a bait fisherman is a bit fisherman with a castnet and worst than that is one with a castnet and a light. I see one and I vacant the premises.............
  15. Hard to understand why a receipt is needed, that said I've needed to produce receipts for a wide range of products from many different manufacturers, the manufacturer can clearly see it's their product. About the only thing I can think of that makes sense to me is stolen property.
  16. It isn't the bow it's the archer. Using braid for more sensitivity is probably the most sensible thing mentioned.
  17. I do not know how insurance policies are written up north but in hurricane prone areas the normal deductible does not apply. If damage is done due to a "named storm", doesn't have to be a hurricane, the deductible is 2% of the insured value of the building( not the real estate market value). The deductible amount may vary with different insurers but 2% is common.
  18. Light will not pass thru a solid metal object like a hook, it doesn't "disappear". Light passes thru line making it " disappear". What does the fish see, I don't have a definitive answer on that until I sit down face to face with some finned creature and have a 1 on 1 conversation. People buy into the hype from these marketing departments hook, line and sinker. I don't care what color my line or hooks are.
  19. I'm not commenting on the quality or lack of on the rod, but this is only a picture, akin to a typing typo that somehow was overlooked. I would not buy any rod based solely on a picture, if i can't see it in person I'm not interested.
  20. When the drag is loosened up the braid does not stretch, line is just pulled out, I'm sure that was the intent. Braid does not require a hard hook set, timing would be more important, you get a feel for it after a short while.
  21. To each their own..............
  22. Don't go to Tony's on I-75.
  23. Given the choice I'd take Tim Horton's over Dunkin Donuts anytime, but no Tim Horton's in Florida.
  24. The cars of today are designed for you NOT TO WORK ON THEM, it's for the service departments of the dealers to squeeze out extra profit. I do miss the styling and individuality of the older cars. One thing I did like about heavy duty truck tires, years ago before radials ( known as "soft tires") bias ply tires didn't squash down like radials do, less being stopped by the weighmaster for being overweight , not to mention half the price, 6 tires on the tractor and 24 on the 6 axle trailer, saved a few bucks.
  25. Being married for eons has taught me 1 thing.............it's always the man's fault. !
