  1. RW is right on the money, certain times of year does bring in the larger of the species. I've caught some hefty fish this year but relative to the size that some of the species can get my catches have been dinks. I'll take it as it comes.
  2. Chris only wants the mono to use as leader line, not main line........he uses nothing but braid and spinning gear. At least that's my interpretation of his post.
  3. If it's a stradic 4000 FI I'll buy it for 75.00
  4. The question was fish, not necessarily bass to feed your family, for me a spoon wins hands down. I can catch any predatory fish at any location in the world on a spoon.
  5. I use a swivel both fresh and saltwater and my leaders area bout 15-18". In freshwater I mostly use a duolock and my leaders do not get changed all that often. I just do not see any advantage to those long leaders for freshwater fishing, trying it has produced no more or less than my normal modus operandi.
  6. It appears to me that you do mostly open water fishing and the type of fish you catch do not have razor sharp gill plates, how abrasion resistant does it need to be? I catch a lot of my fish off the beach with rocks and coral and I cut my own leaders from Ande mono or Big Game with little problems, an occasional cut off does happen due to the nature of the type of fish and conditions ( that's fishing) but wire is out of the question. Offshore is a different story, cutting your own leaders don't hack it out there, quality abrasion leaders are mandatory for success.
  7. Been eyeballing a 2 acre pond, so I stopped by on my way from ocean fishing. Hope this isn't the biggest one in there. 2 shoe lengths of a size 9 shoe.
  8. I haven't caught a decent bass in a week, they have turned off for me, just the way it goes.
  9. Don't take a knife to a gun fight ! A lot of good choices out there, I would not go smaller than a 4000 reel. Abu Soron or Shimano Stradic on a Star Stellar Lite rod or Hurricane Redbone mh 10/20 rods. You never know what you are going to run into out there, I would not go under armed.
  10. Awesome fighters, heading out this morning to look for monster jacks. Gave the fish to one of the regulars, cooked it up and brought some back the next, excellent table fare.
  11. Human nature is to be greedy regardless which side your on. The NFL is no different than any other business, employees get paid what the market will bear, in the case of the athletes it can be a lot of money. As a business owner I never had an employee that thought they were overpaid and I never thought they were worth what I paid them. The debate between ownership and labor will go on forever.
  12. I had the incredible for 3 weeks then returned it and reactivated my old flip phone. Very short battery life and the sound from the earpiece was not very clear. After playing with it for a few weeks I decided I had no use for those aps or games and I don't text. The camera was excellent.
  13. Don't worry about you hand, it will get your leg first. They fight better than snook and the 20# snook aren't around yet. What was special about this cuda was that I caught it in colder winter water and on a spoon, most this size are caught cuda tubes or live bait. I thought I was top dog with this 44 incher, but I was informed this morning that an hour after I left some dude caught one 54"...................now that's a cuda. I should remove the photo now as my cuda is a mere pissant. lol
  14. My business is non of your d**n business ! Any privately held company should not have to disclose income/ expenses/ profits except where wrongdoings are suspected and then to government prosecutors and or the IRS. Green Bay may be a different story as I believe the city owns the team, in that case there should be full disclosure. Some revenues are easily obtained following the paper trail. T.V. and radio income generated from public companies like CBS,ABC, NBC are public record, Fox may be a private company and in my opinion may not have to disclose, not sure on this one.
  15. I fish every day, starting with the ocean or ICW before sunrise. I will usually go freshwater fishing 2 times during the day, on my way home from the ocean, then an outing in the afternoon.
  16. There is no definitive answer, boils down to personal opinion, mine is Floog Supreme in that price range. Light, plenty of line capacity, versatile in fresh and salt, have personally caught many fish over 20# and still going strong, hard to beat that for a 100 bucks( I paid less).
  17. For me braid is braid, I use PP and Fins. I use nothing but spinning both fresh and salt, 10# or 15# max for freshwater and 15# or 20# for saltwater. As a recreational fisherman I see no reason to use heavier line, I don't mind giving the fish a chance.
  18. I'd give the El Rio a shot. From what I've seen there is very little small pressure, and only a few places to bank fish. I have personally caught LMB 6#+, snook, tarpon and jacks there, it's tidal.
  19. Those are really some nice bass. For me it's all about the battle, guesstimates are close enough for me.
  20. I'm not an expert on small utility vehicles like a pick up but I am very knowledgeable buying trucks. Don't look for a deal, look for a good vehicle. I have bought new, used from both dealers and private, because it comes from a dealer does not make it better or worse. Pay a mechanic to do an inspection, spend a few bucks more, it will be cheaper and more reliable in the long run. Any truck or car that has had frame damage isn't worth consideration at any price.
  21. Athletes or sport........not in my opinion. A good angler can catch any kind of fish, anytime, any place with any equipment, no reason a good bassman can't do the same.... fish are fish.
  22. Those breakaway clips look nice, but can they be used with a top water popper or some of the thicker spoons, doesn't look like it. I surf fish almost daily and I'm sticking with a duolock or loopknot.
  23. Get well soon.......I recently had some pre cancerous spots removed from my forehead and scalp, all is well.
  24. Is a story one reads in a " rag " really the whole story? I don't understand all the negativity from forum members, like him or not the kids just out there making a buck.........good for him.
  25. Without much effort and research one can easily notice that so many youngsters today are just too d**n fat. With all the information right at our fingertips (on the boxes and packages) it's pretty simple to eat healthy. I think parents should be more aware of what they are stuffing down their kid throats, not too mention their own as well. The lowest carb cereal I'm aware of is Special k protein, 17 with 7 protein, a protein with carbs is important so I'm told.
