  1. I've got the spheros 4 & 8000, the 4 has 20lb braid on it mounted on a Hurricane Redbone 7' 10/20 mh rod. It's a real workhorse, not the smoothest but durable and I've caught some real bruisers with it.
  2. I took a peek at Glenn's recommendation and didn't have the energy to get into it. Try this one, it has both of Glenn's programs he mentioned plus a few others. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html A few months ago I had tech over to the house to clean up some trojans and he used Malwarebytes, worked like a charm so I installed on the other computers in the house.
  3. .010x175/.13=13.461 .010x175/.013=134.6....should be great formula Mathematically yes, it 's an extra 0.6 yards, but you won 't leave the 1/8 th inch of free space between the line and the spool edge. Not the .6 yds but the diameter for the 10# was typed .13 when .013 is correct.
  4. .010x175/.13=13.461 .010x175/.013=134.6....should be great formula
  5. I never clicked on any link and I still got 2 of them, malware program took care of the problem.
  6. Hope it goes well.........nothing I can think of more important than healthcare insurance, especially a group plan.
  7. Where's a cop when ya need one.
  8. Being a relatively new fisherman with only 60 years of freshwater and 30 years of inshore saltwater fishing with using nothing but spinning gear with braid for many years that probably means I have no clue how to catch fish. I never use backing with braid, just tape and go, either tie over the tape or just place the line on the spool and tape over it, I use masking tape. As far as lure selection, I use them all and catch fish on all of them. I have never had better production using florocarbon, I cut my leaders from Ande mono. If the bass are on they will hit my mother's old garter belt.
  9. I have 1 medalist and 2 supremes and buying a 3 rd. My medalist is the smoothest real I own with a terrific drag (5000, for bonita).
  10. The biker was out for a joyride, never pressed it and never went low in a turn. I think the bobsledder is out of his rabbit a$$ mind.
  11. I would have a licensed electrician do the work and a permit pulled. If ever the property goes up for sale it's possible upon inspection the wiring will have to meet code. You may want to check your H.O. policy to see if you are covered in case of a fire.
  12. My #1 and there isn't even a close second is a Mirrorlure Pappadog, you can pop it, walkit. or both at the same time.
  13. I use painters tape (masking). Depending on what I'm fishing for I do it 1 of 2 ways. Larger fish and saltwater I lay the line on the bare spool and put the tape over it, I would rather lose a lure and a spool of line than have some bruiser spool me then do damage to the reel by knotting it down, I'm an eye witness to this. If I'm lazy I do the same thing in freshwater, but usually apply tape to bare spool then knot it down over the tape. I only use spinning and only use braid, never had a slippage issue.
  14. Backing isn't needed if you use tape, I haven't used backing in years.
  15. Bulk of my fishing is saltwater and all I do is a good fresh water rinse with a hose after each outing(light spray). Your worst nightmare is sand, if that happens I personally have my reels professional cleaned.
  16. The only time I use conventional gear is drifting or trolling for pelagic species, so my casting is done with spinning 100% of the time, except for fly rod. I never felt out of contact with my lure and many times my bail is closed before it hits water, especially in wind.
  17. Sums it up well. I pay zero attention to reel ratio or retrieval speed as I'm always varying the speed. I've noticed this year my best production is coming from a slow retrieval. Experimentation is the best teacher.
  18. Peacocks have a hard time with water temp below 60 degrees, we had a lot of winter kill last year. As far as fight and aggression no comparison.
  19. Backing is not needed unless you want to topshot and only use a 100 or so yds of braid. I use tape (never slips) and have no backing on any reel. Tying over tape or taping line to spool is your choice, I find it makes no difference.
  20. Great point ! I put my 18 oz. avet mxj on a star handicraft rod and the balance makes this feel as it's the lightest I own. Conversely I put my shimano spheros 8000 on the same star rod spinning version and it sucked so I returned the rod and bought a shimano tallus, way better marriage.
  21. My glamour fish are tarpon and snook caught off the beach on light tackle. Offshore the jumps and runs from sailfish and dolphin are nothing short of spectacular. When the bite isn't happening in saltwater it's peacocks all the way, freshwater version of a jack crevelle.
  22. Berlin wall fell Nov 9, 1989........different decade.
  23. You have a good point! For me it's the technique, I want the biggest on the lightest spinning or fly(kings are bait and wait, not my desired way of fishing).
  24. 1. Historic U.S 2008 Presidential election. 9/11 is up there but since there have been other terrorist and sneak attacks, it gets my second spot. Skinny Jeans and shaggy haircuts. You missed the 60's, this is old stuff, lol
