I can think of easier and better ways to make a buck, tough job. Advice I got from an oil exec when I was first starting out " kid, only fools and mules work with their back"

Line Twist
I use braid on all spinning except an ul pflueger trion, with swivel and no line twist, same line for about 2 years. Yesterday I was using a conventional reel and noticed bad line twist, later that day it dawned on me that I had used that outfit for trolling with a spoon, hence the twist. I use braid on my stradic fi and I am going to replace several of my saltwater spinners to stradics( having some custom rods made as well), it really is an outstanding reel and I don't remember ever having a wind knot on it.

What are your fishing STRENGTHS?
I'm no better than average in finding fish or even enticing them to strike, my best strength is landing larger fish on lighter spinning tackle. For me, no greater rush than having a runs of 50 or 100yds with that drag just screaming.

A change of pace
Seem to get bigger fish when I leave my camera in the car, lol. Will do the same scenario today, I want a 30#. I may use a heavy spinning instead, hate that conventional, only good if using a fighting belt.

Wife...and yes, it's a rant.
I think Rw is right on the money, I've got quite a few years of marriage under my belt too. Always need a backup plan, I would be seeking professional & legal advice on the qt, something isn't kosher.

And that all she wrote.
I got a headache after the first 7 words, saw no point in reading the rest. I appreciate the fact that rootbeer is in school learning theory and I wish him success, but theories sometimes don't work in the real world. Rootbeer, and I mean this with all due respect, when you have 20 or 30 years of business experience, and trading with your own money at stake then come back and tell me how to do it. Your aspirations are what many on this site have already accomplished.

I read exactly what tyrius read why the dow is surging today, it's much more than gm news. I'll hold off on giving a prediction as I did before and received a ton of flak, I think I was right I said a few months back copper prices and factory orders are leading indicators and the indices have reflected their rise. The consensus believes we are not having a bear market rally. although we may have some consolidation this summer, which is good. Being a liberal capitalist ( owned my business and employed many) I believe in higher taxes.........(Ducking) Before state corporate tax I had small business tax for DBA's(SBT) state personal income tax, city business tax, federal corporate and personal income taxes, payroll taxes and my own social sec, workman's comp, not to mention dividends and cap gains.....I don't object to higher taxes , only how they are spent.

America's Most Dangerous Cities
The riots of 67' marked the beginning of the decline of Detroit. Prior to that Detroit was a vibrant city that had an outstanding public education, wonderful cultural history (thanks to the auto companies) and a robust economy, that has all changed. We all remember Coleman Young, he was the architect of the demise and Detroit has spiraled downward since. Artists have been moving back into the heart of the city since the 80's. A few attempts to revitalize, some urban development, shopping and residential, casinos, RenCen,Hockeytown, Ford Field and Comerica Park, all for naught. Nothing seems to click like Baltimore or Cleveland. The brightest spot is the budding movie industry in Detroit, it's pumping a few bucks into the local economy, but affects too few people. Says it all !

A change of pace
I was in the mood to fish a different style, whatever it takes to catch fish. For the first time ever I caught live bait to fish for some larger fish. First hookup, I don't know what it was, thru the hook after about 15 minutes,(yes I was using a circle hook) I could not turn the handle on my Avet mxj. Second hookup I caught a solid 20lb snook by my estimate, what a fight!

America's Most Dangerous Cities
Living in the Detroit area and owning a business in the inner city I have a hard time believing that article. Yes Detroit is a rough town, no question about it, but over the last 10 years the population has shrunk so much that there is no one there anymore, crime is way down. I find South Florida to be much rougher and scarier than Detroit ever was, but this is just my opinion being a resident of both areas, I'm sure the writer didn't live in either place.

Line Twist
Use a good swivel and leader, should make a dramatic improvement. I have a ul with 4#, no twist after 2 years of use.

Got Creative With Scrambled Eggs... yumm
Been doing the cream cheese thing for eons, you can put jelly in too. Leave out the jelly and use smoked salmon ( lox ) and onions. Putting the eggs in a blender first adds volume, makes omelets rise high and fluffy.

fresh water and salt water?

Re: favorite bass angler

Bite is getting hot
That was maybe an inch under slot. I had a very hot week and several cudas on very light tackle, you know what I use. Those snook were caught on the small jetty and it has been mobbed that last few days at sunrise & last of the outgoing(lot of fish boiling) as snook season ends tonight. I was using a large windcheater and couldn't keep them off the lure, but things change, the last 2 days they hit nothing but live bait and wouldn't look at a lure.

Why am i losing fish on a strike king red eye shad rattle trap?
That's fishing, it happens, don't read anymore into. There is not a person alive that has landed every hooked fish. Keep the pressure on them, it may not be the equipment, it may be you.
-
fresh water and salt water?
I'm a saltwater fisherman and your equipment will do fine. As mentioned a lite water spray is all that needs to be done. If an additional product is used the choice would be salt x, it removes salt deposits, but most of that stuff is big hype, you don't really need it. I have it and hardly use it and my equipment is in great shape with daily use.

I have no clue what this is. Take a look.
That is a blue tilapia and I have caught them on crappie jigs, I understand they may hit 10#. There is also a spotted tilapia, smaller. These fish are not too aggressive and I've only caught them by chance. Hale's photo is a mayan cichlid, very aggressive and fight like the devil, much like a peacock, I have caught them 2# on ul........

Frog fishing with a spinning rod?
I only use spinning except for some pelagic species. I use a piece of crap outfit for tossing frogs and it works fantastic. 6'6 med 8/14 rod, cardinal 101 reel with 10# braid, 20# leader. For the life of me I can't understand why heavier gear is used.
