  1. Absolute fact, spinning gear can be used in any situation. I caught 2 150# lemon sharks back to back on 6000 series spinner with 20# braid and 40# leader, drag never an issue, only my back........lol. I've caught hundreds of larger more powerful fish than bass on a standard 4000 spinner. That said, don't think for a minute you land every one.
  2. heart disease is the #1 killer of natural diseases medical error #1 cause of accidental deaths http://catherinemarie.wordpress.com/2007/05/05/medical-mistakes-a-leading-cause-of-death-in-the-united-states/ I'm sure there are conflicting studies no doubt published by the AMA
  3. I live in Delray and have yet to find a really good spot locally for lmb and peas, I'm boatless as well. I do know of quite of few spots around here.
  4. My medalist was purchased before the introduction of the president xt. At that time the president was purely freshwater, except in the 2 larger models that replaced the rosewood handle, but too large for bass fishing anyway. I owned the president and the medalist at the same time. If I were in the market for a new reel I would give the president xt a good peek.
  5. I don't care how much doctors earn either, they earn their keep and they work amazing long hours under stressful conditions. My biggest gripe is being held hostage by the insurance co. I paid a group rate for about 50 employees, then I retired and had to convert to an individual plan. Plan not nearly as good and the cost was fairly close. When I moved to Fla, my insurance was not transferable and the plans down here would not write me or my wife due to pre existing conditions. Not many over 60 are 100% perfect.
  6. Seems as though a sense of humour is a rare commodity, as rare as beating KVD but some dreams do come true. As many quality snook as I catch, KVD would blow me away in heartbeat, snook fishing is similar to bass fishing, except they are twice as big and much more powerful.
  7. Completely agree. I'm beginning to think of most doctors as nothing more than hustlers It isn't the just doctors, it's pharmaceutical co's and the insurance companies, they even dictate what doctors can make.
  8. If I had dreamed up a post like this I'd become a hemp farmer and really hallucinate. I'd put my money on KVD using a cane pole or a hand jig line and walking the shoreline against sophisticated equipment and knowledge of your home lake. This one ranks with some of the most banal. "when you think you are good , tell everyone. when you are good, they will tell you"
  9. I don't give recommendations only reviews of equipment I've used for at least 6 months. My pflueger medalist is the smoothest real I own including other brands that are twice the price(doesn't make it a better reel, there are other considerations). The medalist is the saltwater version of the president, it performs flawless. I own 2 supremes, ok, but thought my old trion was just as good, if not better. Unless you are going to jump up to a stradic fi, it really makes little difference, what ever catches your will work nicely.
  10. On the rarest of moments when I use mono I soak the filler spool in hot water for 5-6 minutes. Put in back in the box and tape the end to the spool and just crank it in. Works perfect every time, I love seeing that box flop around. I've got some 4# mono on an ul for 2 years, still no line twist.
  11. song about bass fishing........hmmmmmmmm "You are the sunshine of my life"..........Stevie Wonder
  12. That's a beauty !!
  13. I just strip it off by hand, I've seen tackle shops use a razor blade
  14. Chris.............great sturgeon and a real feat in landing it, is that a recent catch? I use spinning exclusively (I'm equally at home with a bait caster, 55 years of experience). 10# braid for bass, 15 or 20# for saltwater. Most of my fish have to be lifted over a seawall, otherwise it would be 10# braid for saltwater. Again...........Great fish
  15. Nice looking bass Chris. Bass are dead here . It's snook time.
  16. Absolutely correct. The irony is we order fish like snapper (hundreds other) in a restaurant and that's what the cuda are feeding on. The toxin is ciguatoxin
  17. Where we fish cudas run 40-48", I guess 15-30#, but have heard of bigger ones. People down here line up in hopes of being the recipient of a cuda caught, they are delicious. Always wonder why they are not considered gamefish, good eating, difficult to entice a strike, and fight like the devil.
  18. And people wonder why our economy is in the toilet. BTW how much of the money spent on a domestic built foreign car do you think stays in the USA? American cars are just as safe and economical as foreign cars and help our country's economy. Buy American. Buy union. Save a nation. Should have done your homework back then and bought the SHIMNANO's of the automobile industry. I'm sorry to see any company go bankrupt, the loss of jobs ripple thru the entire economy, this week over 2000 auto dealers are being notified they will no longer be handling certain brands, I'm sure some on this forum will be affected. I drove Cadillacs and Lincoln's and had one negative experience on 1984 mark, easily corrected. If these companies survive the quality control will be top notch
  19. I've heard a local snook guide fishes under the lake worth bridge as his go to spot, boat ramp right there too.
  20. Palm Beach County is known as the "dead zone", I need to get over to the gulf. Boca grande is nuts, too many boats. I'm packing up my bass stuff till November.
  21. I've been seeing a lot of gators too, I think it's mating season, time to be real cautious. Python........pretty cool
  22. Never experienced or heard that about bass, but would doubt nothing. Groupers caught from depth will come up with their air bladders out of their mouths.
  23. IMO I'd buy nothing less than a stradic fi, if I were buying shimano, the stradic is really a fine reel. Every time I put my hands on a lesser shimano(they feel heavy and not smooth) other reels grab my attention more. I will not give recommendations only reviews on equipment I have owned for a period of time. trion, real smooth, bit heavy, don't like rosewood handle medalist, smoothest real I own, also heavy 2 supremes, good but overrated, I'd back down to the president xt stradic fi, best of the bunch, smoothest drag, but cost more than many want to spend.
  24. I'm surprised something like battery cables was a problem. Cables are not made by the auto companies but by suppliers, foreign and domestic. The same suppliers make parts for both American auto manufacturers as well as foreign companies. I dealt with 100's of them over the last 35 years. The quality control has been much improved over the last decade, but perception of American cars is still bad. As long as jobs are in jeopardy the quality control will continue to improve. That said, I just bought another foreign car. haha Gm is more a victim of the economy than a bad business model, even toyota was down around 30%
