  1. It is bad a pic, cork looks like some of my use rods. Personally I would never purchase a rod or reel based on what a pic looks like in a catalogue. I need to see it in person.
  2. Little guys but still pulling drag out There should be some fresh water snook down in your area(don't eat them) Between the bass bite being slow up here and the heat, humidity and bugs, I'm a retired bass fisherman until November.
  3. WTG,,,,,,,,nice fish
  4. Being a former Detroiter and big,big Pistons fan I'm sad to learn that Chuck Daly passed away, I was equally sad that the Pistons owner, Bill Davidson, passed away 2 months ago. He will be missed for his community activism and charitable work. The " BAD BOYS " , what a team.
  5. Excellent.............that second fish has to be related to a snook. The mouth is identical, the hump on the back is quite silmilar
  6. I had a inshore coastal rod by falcon, didn't like it too much. It broke after about 3 weeks (don't remember what happened) BPS gave me a full refund.
  7. I changed mine recently, the transfer was perfect using google chorme, but when I used ie7 browser it took several days to change........stumped me as to why.
  8. I have no budget whatsoever for equipment and tackle, that said my equipment is pretty much moderate in price and I buy little in the way of tackle, as compared to what I see. My fresh water tackle fits in my pocket and my saltwater stuff I just walk around with 1 lure or spoon on the rod and backup in my pocket. Me a junkie HAHAH, I'm a fisherman. and it happens almost everyday.
  9. Caught 4, all about the same size
  10. As long as the braid holds a good knot and holds fish, I don't care what it looks like.
  11. If you fish where I fish getting cut off can be an everyday experience. Hard to say what average fish weight is, depends on what's running. snook 8# cuda 20# tarpon 25# jacks 3-4 #
  12. Exactly why most professors are not businessmen. Best I ever had was an economics professor as well when I went to U of M. He had been a private secretary to the president of a major corporation, he was totally organized.
  13. I didn't catch the aj's, I only had 3 bonita, but they did keep them.
  14. Not my field but I do know that raw materials are shipped to companies that produce steel, for example, so freighters may be involved, trains are also fairly low in shipping cost like boats. The finished steel master coils are then "shipped" to the auto companies for stamping out, doors, hood, trunklids etc. Suppliers ship parts for auto assembly to the auto companies, I think most of that is by truck. About the extent of my knowledge, I'm sure it gets quite involved.
  15. Many a nice muskie roaming those waters. Sturgeon at St Mary's I grew up fishing that lake several times a week from 5 to 20 years of age in small rowboats with limited horsepower. Unless global warming has changed that lake in the last 40 years you should have no problem, but always keep your eye to the weather. Where fishing, Anchor Bay, Harsens, over to Wapole ? Caught plenty of smallmouth in Lake Erie ( Rondo bay), but don't ever remember catching one in Lake St Clair. Dementia sets in at my age.
  16. Root beer.......I've gone with my gut many times and not many times, it seems to balance out. The stock market is the easiest place in the world to make money, IN HINDSIGHT! I did notice your concern over stocks that may be connected to auto biz, if that is the case you may consider diversification ( asset allocation, Harry Markowitz)
  17. Valid argument....... but business is starting to pick up already in some areas. My former business, I still have limited involvement, has always been a leading indicator generally 6 months or so before general economy, and it's improving now. I could not sell copper since last November, I just sold some last week and the mills are now buying. Much of it goes to China and auto sales are up 20% there. I also believe a pullback 10% or so is possible, the market is getting ahead of itself, that would be nothing unusual.
  18. A cuda strike is nothing short of awesome, there is no "nibble", they slam it at full speed. The rod is practically jerked out of your hands. Unfortunately you don't catch them everyday, they may be around but won't strike or not around, they often miss the hook and the tide has to be timed. I've gone many weeks without getting a strike.
  19. 10 trillion sitting on the sidelines now, some of it is now moving into energy and commodities(metals) which means demand is improving. New claims for unemployment are not easing a bit and companies like Cisco say no layoffs. News reports are indicating better news in some cases and news not as bad as originally thought in other areas. Factory orders up and so is purchasing agent orders. Not that the economy is out of the woods but the signs are trending up. Investors are licking their chops in anticipation of gaining more ownership in some of these banks. They are aware higher yields means higher risk, but that's what they are in business for. Financials for the long term, a good bet.
  20. I make all my own leaders for barracda. I'm suspect of the swivels and snaps from storebought ones. I use coated wire 30# or 40#(can't remember off the top of my head), the loops and swivles are attached with crimpers, then sqeeze them shut with a crimping pliers. I make and attach separate leaders to each and every lure I use. Never tried the tieable.
  21. Bass see very well, have cones and rods like humans. Rule of fishing...........if you can see them, they can see you.
  22. RW, I caught another 46'' barracuda today on my stradic, I'm really liking it now, I may buy another. I was going to buy a biomaster but I don't really see the point.
  23. As a saltwater fishermen let me chime in. What kind of fishing are you planning on doing and what are your target species? Beach, pier, boat, casting, trolling, bait fishing, this all makes a difference on what is best suited for you. You just never know what is swimming by. True stradicfi 2500 is an excellent reel but not enough line capacity and the drag is insufficient, you need a 4000 or 5000. I have a stradicfi 4000 and it's very good. Also the majority of shimanos mentioned on this site are for freshwater and sw inshore use. If used offshore you may want to check out their offshore line, spheros, thunnus, sargaosa. The president is now marketed as a saltwater reel, I'd check out the medalist, a true saltwater reel, I have a 5000 and it performs flawless and the smoothest reel I own. The supreme is not a SW reel, I use one in saltwater but If I had to do over, I would not. I also use Abu cardinals and very pleased with them. In my area of Florida the guides and top fisherman I know lean towards Quantum, cabo being the choice. I can't comment on the other reels as I've never owned them. The rod is important too
  24. 46 incher and Moray
