Try this..no guarantee, but always works for me. strip the line off the spool and put it back on the mg spool. then soak the line in the sink med hot water for about 6-8-10 minutes. This should take out the "coil". When you go to spool the line on the reel, tighten your drag so it takes effort to pullout. Spool the reel holding the line tightly, may burn a bit, when your done back the drag down, loose drag is good for storage too. For my money hot water works better than line conditioner and it's free. If this fails try 6# or go to 8 or 10# braid or have the reel professionally spooled. can't imagine that the reel itself is a problem, you have very decent reel, but you never know, maybe the store will give you an exchange if it's fairly new. As far as drag while your fishing, depends on how you set the hook. If you set it hard stronger drag. I don't set hooks hard so I use a lighter drag. The scientific way is 1/3 of the line breaking strength 8 divided by 3 = about 2.5 lbs, but you need spring scale. After a few fish you will have the instinct for it.

I don't keep fish unless it's a dolphin. My guys sell those kings. I was doing things backwards. We were trolling with heavy spoons on conventional rig and drifting with spinning sardines on a king rig. So when we stopped trolling I was casting with the conventional, was too lazy to rerig the spinner for a spoon or feather. I need to pick up some diamond jigs for kings, that's what the commercial guys use.

Don't read too much into this, this is from cost cutting measures, not improved sales. I'm excited as everyone else, especially being retired and this is what I live off. But RW is absolutely correct, BEAR MARKET RALLY. The issue of commercial real estate hasn't been addressed too much, which will be a huge issue. Down in Florida vacant store fronts and major companies closing up right and left. Those lessors have mortgages too. I started my business during the 74 recession and the 81-82 recession was terrible. What makes this one extra bad is credit or lack of. During most downturns lines of credit is what keeps companies going and back then I was getting called frequently by the banks.......That is not happening today. My core business was scrap metal, it exactly mirrors the stock market and scrap is cheap and not easily sold today. Like the stock market that business goes into and exits downturns about 6 months ahead of the general economy and I have seen nothing positive yet. The market is a precursor of things to come

I wear progressive sunglasses but not polarized. Polarized is not good for golf, you don't see the ball as well. For fishing I wear cocoon clip ons and they work very well. Amber for freshwater bank fishing and grey for out in the ocean.

I've been wearing glasses most of my life and progressive bi focals the last 20 years or so and I'm happy enough. Given my experience with prescription eye wear, the last thing I would ever do is order them on line. It may work out, but so many prescriptions are "delicate"

Fished out of Riveria Beach, Fl, yesterday. Perfect day, 10 mph breeze out of the NE with 2 ft swell trolling with diamond jigs in the gulfstream we caught 4 nice kings, 2 bull dolphins and sailfish were tailwalking, unfortunately not on my line.

I know that area well and I'm not protective of my "secret spots". Try the griffin canal go west from the spillway and seminole park for the trifecta. Peas, freshy snook and tarpon. Snook and tarpon are there, they just don't reproduce it freshwater. Caught some peas in the c15 recently.

I only use braid and spinning gear for bass. I use a leader tied to a barrel swivel, no need to tie line to line for bass. I use 10# braid and 20# mono leader. If you plan on using any kind of lure with exposed hooks, when hung up, DO NOT try and get it free jerking the rod. Release your bail and take tension off the tip of the rod, then get yourself free by just pulling or jerking on the line, will save you a ton of lures in the long run.

I've yet to hear of second hand obesity. I smoke 3 packs a day........no question about it, takes a heavy toll. I wouldn't pit smoking against obesity, both are bad

Is it possible we are just better fisherman? LOL Don't look for excuses just put your time in, it will happen. Yesterday was a poor day, couldn't get a hit. Normally I go bout 5 bass an hour. Bluebird day, so to buck conventional wisdom I go top lure at 1:00 hot bright day(that's an old wives's tale)..........and BAAAAAAAAMMMMMM.

Palm Beach is the dead zone now...........no snook ! They just aren't many around. I have caught only a few this past week at my normal "hot spots", on xraps or yozuri's. I do this every single morning, Lake Worth down to Delray. I go at 3 or 4 every morning and usually wind up at the Boynton inlet.. Today I'm going out for kings. For a fact....They are catching quite a few snook south around Hollywood(bridges) on live bait. You may try the El Rio canal by FAU on high tide, snook stack up there this time of year. Inlets are generally better on the outgoing, doesn't mean that you can't get them on the incoming, it happens. Bridges and ICW are better on the incoming , but sometimes you have to work both sides of the bridge. Snook will always have their nose into the current........btw most fish do that. Snook are not aggressive, if they aren't on you won't catch them and if they are, they'll hit your mothers old garter belt. I heard the spillways have been holding big snook and jacks, but they are not hitting.

Based on what you have and the type of fishing you do I think you are on the right track already. I have no less than 12 abus pfluegers and shimanos. Next time try putting the fish next to your rod or a dollar bill, anything to indicate tie size of the fish. There is no way to tell how big that fish is.

I've been to Israel a number of times, in fact my niece started college there in 2006 so the entire family went, this was during the war with lebanon. Sure things happen there, but they are a prime target daily, that said their security is nothing short of terrific and the people generally feel safer than we do here. We live in fear, they live with fear and go on about their daily life. Some bad rap the foreign aid given to them, unfortunately they don't realize that we get military strategy, weaponry development, intelligence. New medical technology, new pharmaceuticals and the list just doesn't end. They know how to run a country right. If I'm too political, ban me........this way more important than a fish

I think your wife is right. This week..... 6 snook, bomber lure. $2.50 3 jack crevelles, silver spoon.......$2.75 few spanish macks, same spoon 20+lmb and peacocks, tiki stiks $3.00 spinner bait $2.00 and some crap I just had laying around. When the fish are on your mothers old garter belt works.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The perfect solution......... OR You can put a swivel on the end of the line, then clip it to a fence. Walk out the line, then reel back tightly thru your fingers. This is one of the reasons I use braid.

I would agree with ejtaylor. For surf casting I would stay away from any shimano, they are sand magnets and sand is your worst enemy. Sometimes you are better off with a decent "disposable reel" I personally use abu cardinal 4000

That does happen, could be gears not perfectly meshed. I gave up taking my reels apart as I have lots of backup. I always send them back to the manufacturer, it's well worth the money. They make it right and you have recourse.

I do...........Univ of Mich golf 1963- 1967, still have my hickory shafted blades, lol.
