We have rattlesnakes, although they are rare. I run across what I would call rat or corn snakes annually as well as gartersnakes.

Maybe some good news. Maybe not even a stroke. The bleeding was in the frontal lobe. Possibly a side effect from being on blood thinners for so long. Mom and dad talked to the doctor today. They are hoping that once the blood gets absorbed back into her body, and some speech therapy, she may be able to speak again.

Carbureted Mercs will have a cold start feature on the forward controls. Is there a large button where the shifter pivots. When you push the button, this allows you to push the shifter forward without putting the motor in gear. This allows the motor rpms to increase under a cold start preventing the motor from dying after it turns over.

I missed the part about the Tracker in the earlier post. My only concern is it big enough to fish the Mississippi? Looks like a good boat for inland lakes but will it be safe enough on the river with shipping and barge traffic and if nasty weather rolls in? Will you be fishing the Mississippi 80% of the time or 20% of the time. I think when buying a boat, safety should be first priority, functionality second priority, and budget third priority. Most people buy boats with those priorities reversed.

I've had both. Currently have a 20' boat with tandem trailer. The biggest benefit of a single axle is the ability to move it around by hand in the garage or parking space. Biggest advantage to a tandem axle is going to be on cement ramps that boats powerload on. If water levels are low and you have to back up further to launch/load you risk the tires going off the end of the pad into the hole created from propwash. If that happens, and it does, you'd better hope the water is warm because you, or someone with you, will be in the water trying to get the trailer unstuck.

If you make a decision quickly, you may get disappointed. If you're going to buy a boat just to but a boat, I would just get a jon or utility boat. Less things to go wrong. If you want to buy a boat with an interior and storage etc, take your time until the right one pops up.

For 30 years there was a cinder block wall dividing the in/out driveways for the apartment complex next door to my store. A few months ago they tore it down. Took 2 weeks of demolition and listening to jackhammers to complete the teardown and another couple weeks to run electric, pour the median and build 4' square brick lampposts. Took her about 2 seconds to demolish the lampposts.

Guess I'm just old. What you deem as being "Ugly" I call being honest. Sometimes we just need to deal with the cards that are dealt and make the best of it. In addition to mom having a stroke last week, my 3 year old grandson lost his father. The father wasn't in his life since day one. Now it's permanent. So, life goes on for everybody else and we just make the best of a bad situation. Sounds like the OP loves his folks. Love requires sacrifice sometimes. There's going to be a day when mom and dad aren't around and he's going to wish he had spent more time with them.

NAPA wet cells. They're about $40 more than the Everstarts. I had Everstarts prior to the NAPA's. Never had to add water to the NAPA's. Can't say that about the Everstarts.

Thankfully my mother had a stroke last week so I don't have to drag her along. My dad's arthritis is really annoying as well. He likes to fish with live bait and a bobber and it really cuts into my casting game. Hurry up and wait. Hurry up and wait. Doesn't he realize fishing is all about me? The nerve of some people... I'll tell you a story from a dad's point of view. I fished every other weekend, ice out to ice up, with my son until he was probably about 17. His mother and I split when he was 4 and it was the only time I would see him. There was about a 3 year period where his life got in the way of our weekends. His friends and college were more important than dear old dad. I understood but it doesn't mean it did not hurt my heart immensely when I would invite him to go fishing and he said he had other plans. I'll tell you another story from a dad's point of view, my dad. My dad buried a son, my brother, from a stroke at the age of 35. Dad is 80 now and you better believe he still remembers everyday they spent together both good and bad. You know how you deal with it? You just deal with it.

I may resort to that if this goes on much longer. Was thinking of something like this.

All ramps are different. I agree with @Sam Trim it up enough to get loaded/unloaded without prop or skeg damage and it must be high enough to not suck sand and mud into your intakes. When loading, take a running start if you can and let the trajectory of the hull do all the work.

Parking...brake and if the ramp is covered in slime or ice, the keep it in 4wd
