About time the grown ups showed up

My .02, On my home water, a 10,000 acre river system which includes 8 or so lakes, there can be up to 4 tournaments going on any given weelend from April to October. Fish are regularly removed from an area which must be locked thru to get to and from the launch. The area replenishes itself daily even with the fish being released north of the locks. The lake they are released is not really conducive to holding a fish population. It's a shallow muddy flat, and aside from a couple small channels the lake isn't fished. The lakes north, south, and east of the release area continue to replenish themselves. I think any study needs to be on a lake to lake basis to hold any merit.

There's a ton of studies you can google for percentages. My club penalizes 1lb per dead fish. Mortality is higher during the hot summer months. I have weighed in 2 dead fish in 8 years. 1 was hooked in the toungue and bled out. The second died, my guess is, from heat/stress.

And it's all relative. Not living paycheck to paycheck is nice. Not having to work, well, I don't have that luxury. I have no interest in the historical part of traveling, and all of my family members have traveled the world. Just doesn't interest me. As far as cars, where could I drive a supercar in Chicago? People do it, I don't see the need. Is a $500 bottle of whiskey $480 better than a $20 bottle? It all ends up in the crapper. I would like to eventually have the time and means to travel the U.S. waterways by boat. Other than that, I'm content. Don't have any desire for added stress and responsibility.

As far as the weight is concerned, I see there are bullet weights with a skirt keeper attached, and just regular bullit weights. Is one prefered over the other? I see there is also something called a skirt "hub" which appears to take the place of the keeper on the bullet weight. Is that necessary when using a plain bullet weight? It looks like i'd rig the bobberstop, then weight, then skirt and or hub, then punching hook with barbs. Correct? Also as far as the bobberstops are concerned they have different lb ratings. Is that rating based on the lb test diameter.of the line or something else?

Is the only difference the backlighting?

Are you telling me there is no such thing as solid weeds from surface to bottom or does it depend on the type of vegetation?

What is the minimum depth you would use this technique in the matted weeds? I'm under the assumption in 4ft depths it woud be solid weeds to the bottom lacking any type of cave or cavern. Is this correct, or is there 1 ft of matt with 3ft of cavern? Presently I will fish the holes and egdes in the matts with a t-rig, but thats about it.

Tell me all I need to know. Where? When? Why? What rod? Whatever else I missed?

Black I tried both on my Revo STX and decided on black. No offense, IMO The silver looked plain and out of place. I think the silver would look better if there was some type of design or engraving. Edit: Maybe the initials HT stamped in the side or stenciled and painted.

You never heard "If it works don't fix it" I'm a skilled tradesman. I posses skills men yearn for LOL. If my truck breaks down, I take it to a mechanic. If my boat motor breaks down, I take it to a mechanic. If my reel breaks down I take it to a mechanic. If my heat, a/c, or fridge breaks down, I fix it myself, I am a mechanic. Trying to save money, more often than not, ends up costing people more. You are very fortunate you have a buddy who can warranty your screw up.

Just gonna try to get out more. I fished less this past year than I have in a long time. Between being busy at work and then getting hurt, I don't think I fished more than 30 days this year. EDIT: Also, not going to limit myself to just bass fishing. I catch musky and walleye on accident while bass fishing. With any luck, If I target musky and walleye, I'll catch more bass.

The key to my happiness...I just don't give a rats arse. Let my Creator judge me on my dying day. I think the 10-90 is the recipie for karma. What comes around, goes around.

That's been my situation for almost 20 years. Works for us.
