  1. The citica is a reasonably priced shimano reel and from what other people say, is pretty good. As for line. I think 10 or 12lb mono would work. As for bird nests, they are going to happen. Just tighten down the breaks so that when you just press the button it falls steady and the spool stops spinning when it hits the ground. Or even tighter if you are having trouble. To get rid of the birds nest: -Pull line out till you can't anymore because of the line being messed up. -Tighten the drag and put pressure on the spool with your thumb and reel. -After a good turn of the handle, press the button and pull the line out. That will straighten out the loops so you can undo the bird nests -repeat this till you get it out
  2. WOW CHRIS LANE! That's sweet! I need a fishing partner sunday if he's getting there by then And my one little A-rig will be there as well.
  3. Yum money minnow, and Basstrix are the only ones I have tried. The 3.5inch money minnow in bluegill works really nice on this pond I fish. All the pond has in it are bluegills and bass and the baby bluegills are out and about so they are slamming it.
  4. I've never done it and would like in if other people are.
  5. I do pretty well with Chrome sexy shad.
  6. That's it. Im tired of hearing about all the big fish YOU guys catch, I'm moving down there.
  7. 10-12lb? Would like a second opinion though, I dont drop shot on BCs.
  8. Perhaps they want something that would create more of a reaction strike? Fast moving lipless crank or spinnerbait.
  9. Sunday - Needa boata Monday - Long Mike Tuesday - Rhino Wednesday - Glenn And keri Thursday - WMD Friday - WMD Saturday - au revoir
  10. There was only one time I gave bass away. There was this old lady with a cane pole fishing. She must have been 90. She asked if she could have it and I gave it to her just because shes 90 and still fishing. I hope Im 90 and still fishing! I've been asked other times. One guy got a ticked off because I threw one back instead of giving it to him. I was still only C&R season, even if it wasn't that guy wasn't gettin nuttin.
  11. The guy is fishing with a javalon, same thing as a LFT magic shad,
  12. A shorter list would be of what they don't eat. Obviously they like worms. But also take a fancy to shad, blugill, frogs, birds, mice, other bass....the list goes on. Welcome to the forums by the way!
  13. Alpster, Are you going to be there sunday? If so, I still need a comfy seat to fish from. Soirierier, soreh, sore rear, sworereray, swarey, sworay.....whatever we decide to call it, can't wait! 73 hours and counting till I hit the road.
  14. I was gonna say. whew.
  15. Hey rhino, how about you and me tuesday? Outta fish at least one day with my roomie eh?
  16. Yep 8lb works nice on my TD Advantage. Forgot to put the mag brakes and adjust the tension knob. Holy backlash! So bad I had to just cut a lot of line. But after I got everything taken care of, it casts pretty well. I'll see how it does actually fishing thursday.
  17. Alright sounds good Mike! Well i was just looking for one to look at before I got there, do a little research. Do you know if there are any contour maps I could get online for free or even pay for?
  18. Up here in the north, clear water means lighter line. 15lb is about as heavy as I want to go.
  19. I'll say it sounds like a good deal. You'll have more money to buy more fishing tackle! P.S. Still looking for a seat sunday, monday, and tuesday. P.S.S. Anybody have a map of gville showing the depths and contours and what not?
  20. Did the quiz thing about 5 weeks ago and havnt gotten the big package of stuff. Got my free pack of 1/0 ewgs though.
  21. So far this is what I got All are BCs, all with P-Line Fluroclear 7'M 7:1 w/12lb - Cranks (Next combo will be crankbait specific, wee bit longer rod, moderate action, and a slower reel) 7'MH 7:1 w/15lb - Jigs 7'MH 7:1 w/15lb - Spinnerbaits, lipless cranks. hollowbody swimbaits Oh yeah for my other one 7'MH 6.3:1 w/ 50lb braid - frogs and other things that need strong braid And my last setup is a 7'M with a 6.4:1 reel. Specifically a St croix Mojo and TD Advantage. Thinking about putting some 8lb on it and using it for plastics. I have a spinning rod but I use that for mainly 1/16oz texas rigged worms and various other light lures
  22. Hey Glenn, how about a back seat on Wednesday por moi?
  23. Haven't really planned who I'll be fishing with. I've only nailed down WMD for the 26th and 27th. So if anybody has open seats, I'll be honored to join ya. EDIT: Looking for a boat seat, Sunday 22nd, Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th.
  24. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12981-how-do-i-remove-a-hook-a-bass-has-swallowed/page__st__15 Here is that link for getting the hook out of the fish. And like susky said, try setting the hook earlier before they get a chance to get it into their throat. Also, smash the barb down. I don't lose any more fish than I usually do haha. Just keep good pressure on him.
