  1. Ive been fishing around fair haven in about 6 ft of water and I've been able to catch a few in the morn, and a few in the evening. not dinks, but not spectacular fish.
  2. What kind of epoxy, the devcon 2 ton? If so is that sold at like walmart or do i gotta go to like a hobby shop? Also, does walmart sell bass wood?
  3. That sure is a noice one.
  4. Ya, Yo-Zuri Hybrid is great also Berkly XL casting, my two favorites other than braid.
  5. I had a spring break on my daiwa regal and called them up and sent a replacement spring free. just make sure to have part number that broke. If your replacing a whole reel...i have no idea
  6. -Should i use balsa or bass wood for my swimbaits, i think i might be carving them just with a knife (is that easy?)? and -How do i attach hook eyes and a line tie to the bait?
  7. It's called a Javallon, known here as a Lake Fork Tackle Live Magic Shad. Ive just never seen anything that big on a drop shot rig and it looks like it is working! I'm definitely getting some of the magic shads on my next order!
  8. Endless, that area is just so bassy
  9. HA! I hate losing lures too. infact today i went outside and made a cast to the other side of my canal and my spinnerbait snapped off due to a sneaky bird nest. i then got in my kayak went acrosse and got it lol! BTW...what kind of crank was it?
  10. This is how it is for me too. I catch a lot of pike a pickerel along with bass. Once i even caught a tiger muskie, that was pretty cool.
  11. Well i used to use 100% spinning gear and then i got a baitcaster and ive strayed away from spinning gear and plastics.
  12. Im fishing in a lake (lake St. Clair) but an area a little smaller than half a foot ball field. I usually comb the area with a spinnerbait and when i catch one fish i cast to the spot i caught the last one. I dont just use a spinnerbait. I also try jigs (black/blue, black/red, and a brown) rattle traps (red with black stripes and sexy gold shad), and today i used the topwater spook (baby bass). I havnt really used any soft plastics. i havnt used them in a while and maybe i just need to bring them back into my arsenal?
  13. The last 3 times ive been to this spot ive caught a fish 3 times.. Two LM(17in and 13in) and one 16 in SM. Two times on a spinnerbait and one time on a topwater spook. The are im fishing varies from 4-6 feet and has weeds that are usually 3-4 feet. I get out there around 6:45am and fish untill noon covering that whole area. Anyone got anything thaat could help me catch more than one fish a day...its kind of irritating >
  14. Im not a small mouth guy but today i was fishing an area that is known for smallies. I only caught one fish there and it was a 17in LM. Today though i caught a 16 in smallie on a white spinnerbait, right as it hit the water he smashed so hard i thought i had a big pike on! Anyways, i continued fishing and didnt catch another one the whole day. Im think that they were heading into deeper water because it the sun was starting to become right on top of us.(caught at about 11am) I have a few questions though...Tomorrow im goin out again at 6:30am and im hittin that spot first. Its an area that ranges from 4.5ft-6ft and there are some weeds about 2ft-4ft up. it goes from sandy bottom(2ft) to that area of weeds i just described, then into some deeper weeds in about 10ft of water. Any tips on how to fish this area for i am new to smallmouth fishing? Thanks fellas!
  15. When i catch gobys instead of just killing them, i put them on a hook and throw them back into the canal. I take a bullet weight and tie on a leader, attach hook to leader. Throw em out. BUUUUUUUUUUUT since i dont think your allowed to sell invasive species i just use Berkly gulp alive gobys ;D
  16. That is why i only fish for bass from a kayak ;D
  17. I go for an overhand cast and there is a tree behind me. I'm not exactly tall so sometimes i don't get my lure back. :-[
  18. i would use a weight, probably 1/16oz-3/8oz. I don't use trick worms or any other worm without a tail. I like a curly tail of some sort.
  19. I live on anchor bay which is a part of lake LSC. I look for depths of 2ft and go almost straight down to 7-10ft. Ive had luck with rattle traps and spinnerbaits, workin the weeds right at the drop off. I suggest using a small 6 inch steel leader though...I catch a about as many pike as i do bass lol, if not more. UPDATE: Went fishing this morning i caught one 2.5lb smallie on a white spinnerbait. If u can find out where compass point is. fish all around that place
  20. I dont really know how to do the wrapping stuff, but im not lookin for a fancy design for my first try. Do i need to wrap it or could i just get the glue off and then sand it to a smoother finish. Other questions: -Do i need a heat gun to get the cork off? -Do i need to add like two inches to my handle? the length is pretty long and i dont think i would, the butt end is cork too. -Would i just sand the cork to make it taper down to the rod blank? -Is there a way to paint your rod a different color ;D?
  21. i haven't had a any luck with my spros, I'm fishing some REALLY nasty stuff. The slop is like a half inch everywhere. The bass can hit my spro but dont get hooked. But the scumfrog has a better hook up ratio for me. Is there a way to soften the body of the spro bronzeye
  22. Not trying to hijack a thread i saw this one and decided to post here instead of creating a new thread. I was wondering how would one go about creating a split grip handle, i have two BPS graphite series, 7'M and 7'MH. Could somebody post or pm me with instructions on how to do it? Much appreciated ;D
  23. I have to say, wouldnt mind that swamp monkey, looks like the bluegill in my canal. pike and bass would go nutz over that color!
