  1. Also if u happen to hook a goby (I live in Michigan and they are frequently caught on worms) I take them and hook them through their face. I catch bass and pike all the time in my canal with 'em
  2. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_100394_100003002_100000000_100003000_100-3-2 Daiwa Regal XIA / BPS Graphite Series I got this combo back when it came with a bionic blade instead of bps graphite series. I own two graphite series rods and have had no problem. My reel still works great too. I've had the reel for 2 years and all I've done clean it a bit and lube it up.
  3. You know what i think your right, and i doesn't matter the fish. I had caught a few pike in my canal and then a snappin turtle showed up and it all stopped.
  4. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10205036_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 Its 110 so a fairly nice price, i wanna use it for spinnerbaits/ lipless crannks mainly so i wanted a faster reel (I think so) i was gonna get a curado e but i dont really wanna spend the money if i dont have to. its purple and im down with that. Also im pairing it with a 7ft MH mojo rod
  5. As for knots, should i use the improved clinch which is what i use for everything right now or should i learn the palomar knot. My step dad puts a dab of superglue on the knot to hold it together, anyone else do that?
  6. I fish in in Anchor bay of of lake St Clair and there is a health population of bass, pike, walleye, carp, and just about everything else. Bass are my main target but i sometimes get a nice pike too. i use 12lb Berkly xl casting which has never let me down. I use 6in steel leader with everything on my baitcaster and don't seem to have a problem with catching bass. Today i went out and was fishing in this canal that was BASS HEAVEN. lily pads, old docks, TONS of vegetation. I put on a spro frog and had several strikes but i still ge excited and set the hook to early. Anyways, had i even caught a fish i wonder if i would have been able to pull it outta the mess of veggies. Since i use a steel leader already I'm not worried about spooking fish. but I'm wondering if it would impact my fishing very much? i mainly use spinner baits and lipless cranks and then frogs some times. Also, if i get braided lin im getting suffix performance braid
  7. Definitely worth getting, i like amber lenses
  8. I moved into a new house with a canal behind and was wondering if i could get some tips. I've used some gobys i catch as bait and have had a little luck. 3 bass and a pike. The deepest it gets is like 13 feet but it is mainly 8-10. water temp right now is about 68. lot of bluegills and perch and gobys too so no shortage of baitfish. ive also caught a bass in some dudes little boat lot. I have a kayak i can go up and down in but i havnt caught any bass. across the canal from me is like an area of really shallow water(less than a foot) that is about 30 yards length wise and goes back about 15. Also this canal is connected to lake st. clair in michigan.
  9. I'm lookin for a new rod and reel that is geared more toward spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, for the reason they are my favorite baits. Ive picked out a st. croix mojo bass rod in 7' MH. My friend suggested i get a revo sx but for like 10 bucks more i could upgrade to a curado, and from what ive seen on the forums they seem to be pretty nice. So should i just pitch in 10 more bucks or is there a cheaper alternative to the curado and revo sx? Somewhere in the 110-120 range? I have a daiwa procaster but its a like graphite frame(?). and i was lookin for somthing that could take more abuse.
  10. I change lures A LOT. Right now I have a 5inch steel leader on due to the pike and I like keeping my lures. But when A fish hits, the clip slides around the been up the wire and is caught on the blades. I haven't lost a fish yet, but my baits get bent to heck. is there anything i can put around the bend that will keep the clip from sliding up the bait? or will i just have to tie on another spinnerbait every time i wanna change
  11. spinner bait, color depending on the time of day/water clarity, either white, chartreuse, or dark red
  12. So today i went with my mom's boyfriend(John) on his pontoon fishing. Me and John were just using all of our new lures we collected over the winter and didn't really think we would catch anything. Then we each tied on rattle traps. First he caught one about 5 feet from a big drop off. then we re positioned and drifted over that drop off again. Then I caught one!!!!! I was using 8lb line and no leader...How i landed that fish is a mystery to me because that rattle trap had been engulfed. He was 26in, as for weight i really don't know. Me and john had a hard time getting the lure out and he lost some blood but we were able to get it out and have him swimming off like a champ. So what are some of your favorite early season lures for pike?
  13. I looked at them and they seem to be the perfect size, could i fit buzzbaits in them or is it just spinners?
  14. You should get THE BIG ONE http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44423_100011010_100000000_100011000_100-11-10 I dont use mine anymore, but when i did i had ALL my soft plastics in the top compartment. There is always room for more storage lol ;D
  15. LOL he called it stuppid right before the attack
  16. i bought the XPS stalker tackle backpack http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10200527____SearchResults Just one problem, there is no room for a spinner bait box! There are A LOT of side pockets, i dont feel like ordering a spinnerbait binder from BPS for i just put in a order and didnt think about the binder. So is there anything i can use that would work like a spinnerbait binder? That i dont have to go to BPS or gander mountain to get? The biggest pocket i can fit stuff in is 9inx7in
  17. Im in the same boat as you mate. My grandpa got me into fishing by givin me all his old stuff, he died 3 weeks ago, 89. Great man. Your in my thoughts bro.
  18. I was just wondering what is the earliest that you go out for bass fishing? Do you guys sometimes go before the season starts? If so what do you guys use?
  19. My local tackle store? Walmart, gander mountain, point is there ain't any by me, i just order from BPS. If there was a mom n pop kinda store though, even if it was a few dollars more expensive i would definitely buy from there. It is my dream to open up a tackle store run by myself and fellow fisherman.
  20. So i was gonna buy some 30lb fireline to put on my baitcaster, because where i mainly fish. Then i remembered several posts RW made about yozuri so i looked at it on BPS and its a great deal for the amount of line, so i was thinking ill get 12lb for my BC, and 8lb ultra soft for my spinning rig. I use my BC for everything but soft plastics and jerkbaits. Or is 30lb braid only needed when ill be fishing frogs in late summer?
  21. is that weird? i throw zoom trick worms on shakey head jigs all the time. 8in worms on a 1/4oz jighead and your "powershaking". ;D I love using a trick worm on a shakey head dude!
  22. oh sorry i forgot to metion i was lookin for a floating hollow bodied frog.
  23. Is there a frog that weighs at least 5/8oz and has a body softer than a spro bronzeye? Or is there a way that i can make my spro softer so that i can see the whole fish in my hands instead of a splash on the water?
  24. Dats a lot of soft plastics! mmmmmmm, i would have bought new rods but u got that covered, try some new lures uve never tried before.
