Scored On A Shimano Curado 301E-Great Price
I happen to look at Cabelas bargain cave and they had the Curado 300/301E for $159.99. But wait there's more...they had a code for free shipping. And if I act now, no sales tax. I'm quite happy with that deal, been wanting a Curado 301E for the longest but just out of my reach. I know the new Shimano Tranx 300/301 are out now. That is just way too much reel for my intentions and at $280, not going to go there. I mentioned this to a buddy and he picked up one also. Glad we both did, the following day the Curado 300/301E went up to $179.99 and the free shipping is gone.

Shimano Curado 300 Or Daiwa Lexa 300 (Original, HD or CC)
Trying to decide which swim bait reel to get. What do you own from these I mentioned, how do you like and what would you recommend? This will be an all around swim bait reel, 6" Hudds, S-Waver 165, WP 130, Savage Gear 5 & 7" swim baits and Spro Rat 50, also 7" swim baits.

Shimano Caenan vs Daiwa fuego ct
Fuego CT. It's a Tatula CT w/o the T-Wing guide. I have the Tatula CT and quite happy with the reel. I'm thinking of adding the Fuego CT this summer.

Swimbait Reels Under $100
Abu Garcia Orra Winch. On sale for $79.99 at TW, BPS, Cabelas and other places. Holds good amount of line, slower gear ratio, longer handle and more compact than a round reel.

BPS Double Down Plopper??? And I was Going To Buy Another WP 130
Seems like BPS and R2S are in bed with current lure line ups. BPS has an S-waver, XPS Boss swimbait that is so similar to the S-Waver and now they come out with this XPS Double Down Plopper. Oh well, as long the the similar BPS R2S copies are cheaper, I'll be buying and trying. Once again, another lure that caught the fisherman fool.

Spro BBZ1 swimbait
Lambast, what do you mean by that RoLo? The bass either is interested or not in the swimbait? If so, I agree. I have all these new 5-6" swimbaits and not one bass to credit any of them. I suckered myself that, yeah; this swimbait will be the hot ticket...I'm still waiting for that "swimbait bass."

BPS Double Down Plopper??? And I was Going To Buy Another WP 130
I was perusing the BPS website a couple weeks ago and this Double Plopper was on the site. It's an XPS Double Down Plopper, not much info about the lure, like weight, length, colors. The few time I tried searching for it, it disappears. I run across it when I'm not looking for it. I was going to get a second WP 130 in yellow head, but this has caught my interest and I am going to wait till it finally makes it to the site officially. If it comes in the 90 and 130 size in the Whopper Plopper and it's less expensive...I may buy a a few. Granted, I've not caught a bass on my 90 and 130 Whopper Plopper..yet. I'm just trying to imagine the plopping sound the WP makes but now with a prop in from and in back.

Manns Baby Minus 1
The egg is Bigger and heavier, like 7/16oz. Casts better than minus 1, it's a 1/4oz. But both do the same thing, hooks tangle up from time to time. Both have short length bodies. I run VMC wide gap, short shank size 4 hooks on the Egg and size 4 front and size 6 in back for minus 1.

Manns Baby Minus 1
BPS The Egg, shallow runner. A bit heavier and casts good. Good color choices too. Cheap and does go on sale from time to time. It does do a rapala scatter rap, looks like a fleeing baitfish.

Daiwa Lexa 300CC-need info please
Who owns or handled this reel? I'm very familiar with Daiwa magnetic braking but centrifugal braking, no clue for this reel. If you own this, please post a pic of the braking system, thank you. Also, how do you like this reel?

Calcutta 100GT TE; Application, Technique and Rod Choice?
Agreed with reply above. Also I use mine for top water applications and smaller swimbaits, under 6". The reel Smooth as buddah! Mine is the lefty model.

Why lower gear ratio reel for 6"+ swimbait lures?
There's another thread about rear ratios and got me to thinking why is a lower gear ratio needed for swimbaits? I realized the Shimano Curado 300/301E is a 6.2:1 gear ratio with 28" IPT and this is a popular swimbait reel. so I'm looking at the Daiwa Lexa 300HD and Lexa 300CC for a swimbait reel. The HD is a high ratio, 8.1:1 and 37" IPT. The Lexa 300CC is 6.3:1, 28" IPT. I would get a double handle for either reel, just not sure which to get.

6.4 or 7.1?
Which of these 2 Dauwa Lexa would be good for glide and other swimbaits? 1. http://www.basspro.com/Daiwa-Lexa-300CC-Bait-Clicker-Baitcast-Reel/product/168556/ I would get the 6.3:1 and get a double handle. 2.https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-RLCDAIWA.html?from=basres I would get the 8.1 gear ratio and get a double handle. I understand the reasoning for a higher ratio, makes good sense. I guess I would have to reel slow for Hudds and boot tail swimbaits? I tried an Abu Garcia Orra Winch, I didn't really like the lower gear ratio for all my swimbaits. I already have the rod, I have an Okuma Guide Select 7'6" heavy, 1-5 Oz lure wt.

Treble Hook Recommendation R2S S-Waver 168
Roger that, will do.

Treble Hook Recommendation R2S S-Waver 168
I've read reviews the stock treble hooks on the S-Waver 168 aren't good, they seem beefy to me. I know they are size 1 treble hooks, what would be a better replacement? Have you changed out your hooks on your 168?

Whopper Plopper 90 - Loon Or Yellow Head
I can't decide, which color do you own from these 2 or which would you buy?

Your Swimbait Reel-What's The Gear Ratio?
I'm on the fence if I need a slow gear ratio, 5.2:1 or medium gear 6.3:1 or high speed 7.1:1. I'll be using 6" Hudds, S-Waver 168, Whopper Plopper 130, 6" Spro BBZ1 and so on. What would be a good all around swimbait gear ratio? What reel are you using also?

Orra Winch And Orra 2 Winch - What's The Difference???
I picked up an Orra 2 Winch at the BPS store this evening. It's the same price as the Orra Winch, $79.99. I checked the specs on both reels on BPS-Orra 2 Winch and TW-Orra Winch and both specs are the same. What's the difference?

30 Ton and 40 Ton Rod Blanks = IM8 and IM9?
I must be old school that I understand the IM rating of 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. I just don't understand the "ton" blanks. So what is the 30, 36 and 40 ton rod compare in IM ratings?
