  1. Volfan, I’d like to sink fast enough to get to whatever depth I need, no more than say 6’ under. I have some lead tape, I’ll try and put 2 or 3 strips on the Antidote swim baits.
  2. I have a few glide baits and and brand in particular, I’m not really understanding. It’s the Baitsanity Antidote, slow sink glide bait. I let it sink for a few seconds, but on retrieve, it rises and is more of a just under the water wake bait. I do use a slow, slow retreive. I have a few S-Wavers and those seem to stay under a foot or so under the water. Any of you who have the Baitsanity Antidote, is this a common thing for this glide bait? I read the praising reviews of the Antidote on TW, but from what I can tell, it’s not what I expected.
  3. 4lb P-Line, moss green. Blends in with green tinted water nicely and it's strong.
  4. I have one in left hand, bought it years ago new at BPS. I haven't used it much but it's a good reel with dual braking. I should bust it out this week and give it a spin. Good find, good reel. I think it's the same frame as the gold BPS Carbonlites from years ago. I've put my PQ on various rods from 6'7" to 7'1" from med to MH. Gear ratio I think is perfect for crankbait and spinners. But I've used mine with various lures and handles them quite well. Good casting distance too. The braking can be a bit finicky at times.
  5. Micenreets, post those relevant when you get them
  6. Eerrr...NO. Not this time Amazon ??
  7. I picked up mine from BPS yesterday. Spooling it up today with 40lb Power Pro and doing casting maiden voyage next week.
  8. An SLX BFS? Do you have a link? That's the first I've heard of the SLX BFS, like I just found out today of a Curado BFS.
  9. Um, the bass doesn't know you're using BFS or regular casting gear, or spinning gear. Bass see's a meal, micro, small, big, large. If the bass is hungry or annoyed enough, it'll do a smackdown on the lure, no concern of lure size. It's the fisherman who cares how big his rod is...and maybe his reel.
  10. I’ve had luck bouncing or popping from the bottom. No luck swimming it.
  11. Look at Bass Pro Shops Maxx crappie casting rod. It’s $30, light action 6’6. I have one similar to that rod from Okuma with specs similar. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-crappie-maxx-signature-series-crappie-casting-rod-100828971
  12. I got one in left hand from Amazon. I have it spooled with 10 lb/2 lb diameter Power Pro yellow braid. I colored the last 10’ of line black with a Sharpie that I cut in the middle. The rod I’m using is an Okuma crappie baitcast rod, 6’6”, light, 4-8lb line wt, 1/16-5/16 oz lure wt. Bought it on sale for $59.99, now that’s a price I’m will to pay with a couple added discounts! So far I think I like it. It does cast lighter lures a good distance, like an 1/8 oz Chatterbait and Ned Rig. I’ve only fished it a couple times and those were quick fishing, to get a feel for the reel. I did try 4 lb P-line first but did not like how stretchy it is. Also I lost a couple lures when I got snagged and pulled and no lure on the other end. I’ve used braid on all my reels, my preference. Also, how much braided line should I really be spooling. At this time, I have it spooled to the top of the lip. One Youtuber said he spools his Zephyr 1/3 full? Exactly what does 1/3 look like on a spool? I’m in the school of fill the spool with line till it is even with the lip spool on both side. The Okuma crappie casting rod loads up pretty good and casts mentioned lures a good distance. Not too whippy like the BFS rods being sold. I think it’s a perfect blend of bend and sensitivity. I’m thinking of contacting Kastking for a spare spool for 4lb P-line...if I decide to use a copoly again. I did order a couple Whopper Plopper 60, the new 1/4oz model for this setup for when the water warms up. I haven’t really put it through it’s paces, so those who do own one; how are you liking it for BFS?
  13. Thank you for the replies! I went ahead and ordered the Curado DC.
  14. So if I don’t use the reel for months the digital control will still work? I have many reels and try to rotate through them during the year. The generator will always work even if it’s not been used for months? Transplanted Midwesterner, thank you for your answer and link provided.
  15. So it doesn’t need recharging? I guess I’m old school.
  16. I’m wondering, since this reel has digital control for casting, will the internal battery ever die? I’m not familiar on how this reel is since I reckon it needs a battery for the digital control to work. Do you have to change the batter eventually? Or if I don’t use the reel for say a few months, will the battery stop working?
  17. This is an Okuma Crappie specific baitcast rod. 6'6", light, 4-8lbs line, 1/16-5/16oz. I know the pics are a bit blurred, best I can get. I've used this rod on my Zebco Micro 33 spincast reel and works good. I ordered a Kastking Zephyr BFS reel and this is the rod I'll be using. Will this work for lighter lures?
  18. Hey Fishtank, what part of Indiana do you live? I used to live round South Bend, close to Mishawaka and 15 min from the Michigan border. I so miss fishing there. So much more choices to fish lakes and rivers and catch different freshwater species.
  19. Hi, not sure if you're asking me where I bought it or what I think about it. If where I bought, an online store had certain Shimano reels 20% off, free ship and no tax. They also had the SLX MGL on sale. But that was just for last weekend. If you meant what I think of it, today was the first time I tried it out. It casts very good distance once dialed in. It's smoother than the other smaller Curados I have and casts a bit farther. Hope those help with your question
  20. Left to right: Curado 51E, Curado 71HG, and the new sibling, Curado 71HG MGL. And the cousin, Chronarch 51Mg.
  21. Nope. Just wondering if it's a good idea. I normally use 30lb braid on my smaller baitcast reels.
  22. I just got the Curado MGL 71HG. I'm wondering if 20lb(6lb mono dia) braid will be OK for the reel on most applications, or should I go with 30lb(8lb mono dia) braid.
  23. Well ok, it’s the same reel. Thanks all for your help!
  24. I did. Look at academy sports, they have both those curados. And the "new" curado K has different handle knows in the pic and they call it Curado K
