Ok, no high sticking. Actually I don't high stick when I land a bass. I guess the reviews I read about breakage are high stick landings.

Hi, Got this said rod yesterday, it was on sale for $50 at a local fishing store, new. I've read of breakage using the rod, should I be worried? It does have a 1 year warranty from Shimano. How do you like this rod also?

Which KVD 1.5 is similar to the Scatter Rap? The 1.5 shallow? The Scatter Rap Shallow is the best one from all the Scatter Raps for me. I've caught quite a few bass a few years ago on the shallow. I don't use them these days except a couple times last month and landed a bass. The local lakes to me, the weeds are 2-3ft from the surface, so even the shallow Scatter Rap would not work. Open water for sure for the shallow Scatter Rap.

I own a couple carbon fiber spinning and casting reels. I keep my rod and reel setup in my car and just wondering if the cars interior, if it gets past 100 degs, will the heat warp my reel or soften carbon fibers?

Not here to start an argument, just wanted to share. I did the best with what I had. I've caught 5, 6, 7, 8 lb bass and did land a big bass the previous week. Yes it's hard to justify how big that bass was without a scale or measuring tape. Again, not here to start an argument, I do have a good idea that it was a much bigger bass I've caught than before. Now, if those 2 tree huggers have taken my pic, it would have been better proof. Just not that many people around at a park lake when it gets dark to obliged them to take a Polaroid for me. I'm just glad the 2 pics I did take did not come out blurry, especially the selfie. Anyway, thank you for those who well wished me. And JustJames, I'll be at canyon lake 2 Saturdays from now fishing from my new pontoon boat.

After all these years fishing, and the last 20 or so years; bass fishing. I've finally caught a double digit largemouth bass! Caught a 10 lb bass past 8pm using a discontinued Bass Pro Shops, The Egg shallow crankbait in crawfish pattern. Used my light baitcast setup with 15lb/4lb Power Pro line. I saw a bass jump out of the water and casted past that spot a couple times. The second time I felt a thump on my line and realized it must be the bass I saw jump out of the water. Since I was using fairly light line, I had my drag loose enough for the bass to run, and did it run! I felt the line coming off the reel and knew it was a good sized bass. It jumped a few times and just kept wishing it won't pop off, and in the early twilight I saw it was big! I didn't horse that bass but played it till it was tired enough to get to shore. I didn't have my scale on me since I was using my light setup and tackle, I've caught smaller bass which is what I was happy to catch. This bass is a game changer. I did catch a 7 to 8 lb bass last week, so I knew this bass was much bigger and I was right. There were this couple I asked to take a pic of me but they said no, cuz they don't like seeing that. You can say I was miffed...stupid tree huggers! Yeah, I was whoopin' and jones'n while I was taking my time reeling that bass in. The bass was so big that I couldn't take a proper selfie and the one pic with just the bass does no justice to how big it really was. I released the bass after I moved it in the water a few times and made sure it was okay. This has been a great year fishing. Caught that 7 to 8 lber last week, caught numerous bass from dinks to 4 lbers, and also my first brown trout a few weeks ago when I was at Michigan. And now a double digit bass!

Are the stock hooks size 4? If so, is it possible upsize the hooks without screwing up the lures action?

Use braided line. I feel most what's going on with any lure I use and feel when a bass picks up or hits my lure especially soft plastics. 40 lb Power Pro, 10 lb mono diameter is my standard line size.

BPS website, the colors and sizes are limited now. They used to have more colors available. One color that they don't have and not sure if it will come back is an almost bone/white color. That color just caught bass in any water condition.

I've been using and catching bass on the Egg shallow crankbait for years, and on both sizes. This to me is the best shallow crankbait out there and I've caught more fish than any other hard lure I've used. The Egg is quite durable, stands up to even the accidental tree or rock it hits. The paint holds up well except for where the treble hooks hits the body. The stock hooks sucks, so I replace them with VMC short shank treble size 4 on the smaller Egg and size 3 on the bigger Egg. Something about this lure that it just attracts bass or any fish. It swims great and perfect for waking too, caught a few bass while waking the Egg any time of the day. Also both size cast quite far with the bigger Egg going the distance. What a Hump Day! Caught a 6 to7 lb bass night fishing using my BFS setup. I know the smaller egg slightly over powered the BFS setup, but I can cast it a long ways. Used my Shimano Curado BFS reel mounted on an Abu Garcia 6'10" Light casting rod, spooled with Power Pro yellow 10/2 lb braid. I was a bit worried that the lighter braided line would snap, but it held up brilliantly. I knew I had a good sized bass when it hit the lure and the bass started pulling line from the reel. Also the light casting rod had enough give to keep the bass pinned from pulling off the treble hooks. Both treble hooks were on the bass, one in the mouth and the other outside its mouth. So this bass was pinned good! If you fish shallow waters or use a lure to wake, try the Bass Pro Shops The Egg. For a house brand lure it's one of the best!

The MH felt lighter in action to me. I actually had the M1 Vortex in MH, but I settled for the Heavy.

Hi, I don't own either rods so I can't compare to either. I can tell you that the Feather Heavy and M1 Vortex is on the heavy action side for me. The action does over power some applications like using crankbaits or treble hook lures. Not much give but I can deal with that. I just loosen my drag to compensate for the rods stiffness. Both are perfect for jigs and frogs. If you have a chance to handle either rod at a store, I'd recommend that.

I can recommend both, I own both Feather and M1 Vortex. The Feather though is slightly lighter and both are just as sensitive. For bottom contact the M1 Vortex is a bit more sensitive IMO, since the butt end has no EVA grip. A couple local shops in SoCal had a fishing sale and Phenix rods were 20% off, so I got one of each of the Feather and M1 Vortex in 7'1" Heavy casting for general applications. I also have the 7'1" Light casting rod for my BFS rod.

You're right, BPS is opening in Irvine in 2023. It will be off Alton Pkwy. From what I read this store will be a bit smaller than the Rancho Cucamonga store and they are building on an old Walmart building. I'm guess BPS will tear that structure down and build up. Thank you for the 411 about that, it's still odd to me that BPS would open a store in Irvine.
