Say Hello To My Little Friend...
I've had this Shimano Calcutta 51 for years and have used it a few times. Fun little baitcast reel, just that it only reels in 16" of line. Good for crankbaits and stick worms. Only thing I changed out is the stock 70mm handle for a longer 84mm Shimano Calcutta handle. Reeling feels much more fluid with a longer handle on a small reel. I just wish I could find a shallow spool for this reel and make it a BFS. I have 30/8lb PP braid spooled and thinking of going with 20/6 PP braid and filling it with more mono backing and see if it will cast lighter lures.

Bass Pro Shops Master Catalog...??????
BPS by this time should have on their website to order the BPS Master Catalog for 2022. As of today, it is still not available. So is BPS doing away with the master catalog or is it like really running late? Not too many places offer catalogs anymore and I always look forward for BPS master catalog to peruse what's new. Please BPS, don't disappoint me and not offer the free catalog.

Which Flurocarbon Line For Glide Baits?
What ya'll think of using Sunline Defier Amillo in 22lb test? My swimbaits and glides are all in 1+ oz to under 4 oz. I'm just concerned if it will be a still line like P-Line CXX in 20-25lb.

Which Flurocarbon Line For Glide Baits?
Thank you, I’ll check out InvzX P-Line CXX in 20lb? Would that be too stiff of a line versus 15lb?

Which Flurocarbon Line For Glide Baits?
What would you recommend for a fluoro line in 20lbs for swimbaits and glide baits up to 4 oz? I haven’t really tried fluoro for fishing but would like to try and which brand of fluoro line would you recommend?

Are Daiwa Tatula, T-Wing Reels; Braid Friendly?
I have 3 different Tatulas and all have braid on them. 2 with Power Pro original and one with Spider Wire Smooth braid. I haven't noticed any grooving on the T-Wing, but I'm not sure if braided line will eventually do any damage to the T-Wing. Thoughts?

KastKing Compass Telescopic Rods
I bought the Compass 7' MH casting for travel also. I tested it out once and it held up good. Wish it had an exposed reel seat though. Seems to be a good food, hopefully.

Telescoping Casting Rod - DIY Spiral Guides???
I bought a Kastking Compass casting rod in 7' MH. I've used it a couple times and so far it's holding up well. Haven't caught a bass on it yet though. I bought it cuz I'm going to Indiana in August for a week, and needed a good travel rod that wasn't too expensive. I've been thinking of trying a spiral wrapped casting rod, but not quite ready to buy one. So I was thinking if I tweak the telescoping length and just turn each section so the spiral down on the left, with the tip facing down; I wonder if I can get a good idea how a spiral wrapped casting rod would feel and perform. I'll try this idea out this weekend and I'll take before and after pics of the guides. Thoughts?

- Is It Safe To Order From , China???
I've been eyeing a particular baitcast reel from Aliexpress. Seems they don't have the one I want in left hand that often. At this time they do. Before I pull the trigger and order from Aliexpress, what has been your experience ordering from them? I don't mind waiting for a few weeks for my order, also I'm not ordering anything real expensive.

Reel selection for light baits
Shimano Curado MGL for sure! Excellent reel, and seems to cast great with not much line over run. But if you do go with Daiwa Tatula, the T-Wing might be an issue. If you happen to use braid and tie on mono or flouro line as a leader, there is that chance the knot will get caught on the T-Wing. I use straight braid, so this is a non issue for me.

Shimano Curado BFS Setup
Tried the Curado BFS today for a little while at a lake. Impressions about the reel, it is small. Feels similar to the Frame of the Curado MGL. Palms very good. It has drag sound when drag is being pulled off the spool. I wasn't sure about that, but I actually like it.. 1st reel to have this feature. I have 10lb, 2 lb diameter Power Pro Slick 8 line. It casts lighter lures quite good, but I think I may bump up the line to 15lb, 4 lb Power Pro. The Curado BFS reels very smooth and easy to adjust for which weight lure you are using. I did cast with some 1/8 oz Crankbaits, 1/6 oz Ned rigs and some chatterbaits. All casted fine and with good distance. I found the sweetspot on the brake dial at 3. I did go to 2, but notice some spool over run. I did have one birds nest and it was my fault. I casted against the wind and did not setup the braking correctly with a light lure. One thing nice with a shallow spool reel, it is easy to pick out birds nests, or line over run. The reel feels very light, not quite as lite at my Kasking Zephyr BFS. But it's not by much. But the frame on the Curado BFS is much smaller in feel that the Zephyr BFS. The rod I have it mounted on is an older Okuma Crappie 6'6", light, 1/16-5/16 Oz lure weight, casting rod. This rod casts lite lures very well. But I have a Shimano Sensilite 7' light casting rod arriving next week to go with the Curado BFS reel. If and when TW has their sale "again", the rod I want to eventually get is the Phenix Feather 7'1", light casting rod. It is lure rated for 1/8-3/8 oz lures. This will pair up perfectly with the Curado BFS. Looking forward to hook up with bass or when it's fall/winter, trout fishing with this setup.

Curado BFS Question
Is the Curado BFS the same size as the Curado 70 MGL? Main difference is the braking and handle knobs?

Curado BFS Casting Reel - I Gots Me One!
Actually I just ordered one a few minutes ago, in left hand. I actually wanted the SLX BFS. Don't know if it will be available to the U.S. market. Sure not gonna pass the Curado BFS since I got it on sale. I should get the Curado BFS end of next week. Now I need to get the Phenix Feather in Light action casting rod. Both should pair real good! So much for TW, Love You guys but not offering a holiday sale and not offering Shimano for any sale...ya gots to look else where...?☹

Tackle Warehouse Issues
Have you been to Bass Pro Shops or any fishing store lately, even Walmart? Inventories even those places are low. So after a year of Covid, tackle supply is still low. No surprise with TW, but really bummed out that there will be no Memorial Day sale??? Places that do carry fishing stuff, they have downsized considerably.

Shimano SLX BFS Casting Reel?
I know the Curado BFS is coming out like soon. Just wondering when the release date for the SLX BFS will be for the U.S. market. I already have a casting rod in mind for the SLX BFS, it's not the Dobyns Sierra BFS rod. I checked out he Phenix Feather, 7'1", light 1/16-3/8oz casting rod. Such a nice light rod that will compliment the SLX BFS. And it's cheaper than the Dobyns Sierra BFS rod. Reason I'm not wanting the Curado BFS is, I bought the Curado MGL a month ago and that is such a nice reel. I don't need another Curado, since I also added the Curado DC. If the SLX BFS is similar to the Curado BFS, but lower price; I want one!
