1st Kastking Reel, Should I Get Speed Demon or Assassin?
I understand, 2 different animals. I tend to fish a variety of lures and do like a 28-31 IPT. I don't want to buy both, but do want to get one and the other at a later time. Both seem to have very good reviews and both seem well built. What ya'll say?

Shimano Symetre, Gone?
One of my favorite models, the Symetre spinning reel is not in the line up in the Shimano catalog. Such a great reel line. I have a 2500, 750 and 500. I used to have a 1500, but sold that a few years ago. I wish I didn't sell that reel. That reel was the Curado of the spinning reel class. And I really liked the all green color to them. I hope Shimano brings back the Symetre. If any of you guys have a Symetre 1500, or Sahara 1500 with spare spool, IM me if you want to sell.

Calcutta 50/51 Reel Seat Rivets, Need Help
A few weeks ago, I though the reel seat on my Calcutta 51; the ends were narrow that when I mounted on a casting rod, it would have movement. I finally found out that the 2 rivets holding the reel seat onto the reel are actually what are loose. Just so much that when I mount on a rod, you can move the reel left and right, not much but enough that when fishing and reeling, the reel moves. Someone on here when I did the first post about this mentioned to take off the rivets and install a screw and nut in place. Good idea, but I don't have the tools to take off the rivets. So, I was thinking. Have any of you used JB Weld? It's a 2 part epoxy. Can I use JB Weld and squeeze so much around the rivets on the reel seat? And will this keep it sold from swaying back and forth? If not JB Weld, what other options do I have to fix this? Thank you for any help.

Shimano 50/51 Calcutta Owners, Reel Seat Question
I have the Calcutta 51 and I am having issues of wobble when I mount the Calcutta to any casting rods I own. Really annoying when reeling. Or is there a way to add shims to the reel seat area to get rid of the wobble? Do you own a rod that the Caluttar 50/51 won't wobble on? A couple rods, it's a bit tighter but you can still feel a slight wobble. Any help, suggestions?

Heddon Torpedo Rolling Over?
Use a small barrel swivel if you want to wind the torpedo in. You can do twitches with it still using a barrel swivel.

Ghost's DIY Underspin For Keitech Fat Swim Impact
I didn't want to spend money on one or two underspins. I already had some of the hardware needed, so I made my own and costs less and I have more than buying name brand underspins. And it works, as in the blade spins freely and adds that flash. I did this up last night and tested it today. No bass but the action works pefectly. Here's what I used. 1. VMC heavy duty weighted swimbait hook. 3/0 hook, 1/8 oz. You can use the size you need for the length of Fat Impact. 2. Keitech 3.8" Fat Swim Impact in Pro Blue 3. Cheap small swivel 4. 2 small split rings. 5. Small willow blade, pick the color or size blade you want, experiment. Find a split ring large enough to fit through the top where the eyelet is. I then installed the swivel onto the split ring. I then used super glue gel to glue in front of the 1/8 oz weight. I gave enough room on the bottom so the swivel can move side to side, instead of it being more on one side when the glue hardens. I let the glue dry, keeping an eye as it hardens that the swivel can swing freely. Not too loose, not too tight. I then put the other split ring on the bottom and installed the blade. Easy, the blade spins freely side to side when the tail is swimming. Only a few times the blade got fouled, but realized if I gave just a small jerk while the lure is sinking, it will free the jig to spin. There you go, Ghost's DIY for a boring Sunday. Fingers crossed my Frankenstein creation attracts a bass and all that work paid off. Good night, you may return to your regularly scheduled program.

Lexa 300 Concern/Problem
I have the Lexa 300 CC (Blue) in left hand, it's similar to the 300 HD (blue) reel, or I guess also the orignal Lexa 300/400. I've had it a few months and finally used it last weekend and today. This is the problem and I don't know if it's just the reel I have or it's the whole series. I press the thumbar, no problems casting. Then out of nowhere, I make a cast and the thumbar(I guess this is the clutch?) engages and sounds like the gears are going to get jacked up. I thought maybe I didn't press the thumbar good, and the times I did; it would every now and then engage and stop the cast and scare the poop outta me cuz I think the reel just imploded. Have you experienced this with your Lexa 300 or 400? I have the the paddle handle model, not the power handle.

R2S Whopper Plopper 110....WORKS GREAT!!!!
Got the new River2sea Whopper Plopper 110. T1000 color. Good action, a bit louder the 90 size. Casts real good on a bait caster setup. It's a buzzbait, just more effective. Here at Yorba, 3rd cast at main lake, had my back turned reeling in and then...SLAM! Chunky 3-4 lber takes it. Good fight thru weeds and bass did not pop off, whew! I'm bummed I didn't see the bass hit the lure. I'm sold on the Whopper Plopper! Now I want the 110 size Monkey Butt color.

Whopper Plopper 110
I'm about to pull the trigger on the WP 110. I already have the 130 and a couple of 90's. I haven't caught any bass on either size till a couple weeks ago, I finally caught 3 bass on the 90 size Rat-a-tat color. So, is the 110 size needed?

Daiwa Lexa 300CC Bait Cast Reel
I bought this reel sight unseen, just seen pics in the Daiwa catalog. It's the same body as the Lexa 300HD and has the double paddle handle of the original Lexa 300. But this has a bait clicker. Most Daiwa bait cast reels have magnetic braking, but due to this reel has a bait clicker, the braking is accomplished by centrifugal braking. Not used to Daiwa using a different braking system. Upon opening the side plate, the braking is a 6 pin system like most current Shimano bait cast reels. So I guess I'm happy to see this instead of some funky braking system like on Quantum and Okuma bait cast reels. Only thing though, when you take off the side plate to access the brakes, the whole side plate comes off. This feels a bit lower profile in the hand than the Curado 301 that I have. I'll have to check them out side by side later, I just got the reel. It's a good looking reel, this is 6.8:1 gear ratio, 28" IPT. Daiwa also has a lower gear ratio Lexa 300CC. I'll mostly use this for swim baits, but I'll have 50lb PP braid, so it will be used in other applicstions.

Cranking reel for BIG swimbaits?
Orra winch can handle the lurest you mentioned. I did not have any problems casting a 6" Hudd. Casted far a whopper popper 130. The Orra Winch held plenty of 20 lb copoly line capacity . I actually liked how the reel felt in hand vs the Revo Winch. That huge gear bothered me when holding the reel for long periods of time.

Cranking reel for BIG swimbaits?
I had the Orra Winch, very nice reel for SB''s in that weight range you want to use. Smooth, did not back lash and easy to palm. I did not keep it cuz it was just too slow for cranking for me, not my thing after using it. I opted for a Curado 301E, a bit faster gear ratio. This works perfectly for me, using glides, 6" Hudds and all in between. I may end up buying another Orra Winch, it was just such a nice reel.

Backing For A Spool Question.
Question why? You can cheap 300 yd mono for less than $2 at Walmart. I just don't understand why you want to use yarn for backing. One thing with yarn, it will compress and you will need to keep spooling till it compacts. With cheap mono, depending what poundage you want to use, that is similar in diameter for your braided line. The mono will not compress and will layer perfectly till you add the braid. Depending how much braid you are putting, I would put a small strip of electrical tape where you join the 2 lines. I do this so if you happen to make it to that knot, the braid will not catch on the knot.

Walmart BaitCasters?
Abu Garcia Black Max or Silver Max. Good bait caster to learn on.
