Does it share a frame with any of the other Curdos? It looks smaller then the DC model.

It looks to me that it may be the same platform as the 70 MGL, but with the finesse spool and braking system.  I'm curious, but not curious enough to buy one as I have a few BFS reels already and my wife would probably shoot me lol

Curious if they will be offering a similar priced BFS casting rod? (Like what Dobyns is doing). Right now Shimano offers a 7’2” Expride ML+ “BFS” that is both expensive and I hear fishes more like a Medium-Fast, not really BFS. 
 

The Dobyns rods are true BFS and are about 2-3 power levels below the current Expride. Am thinking Shimano could offer a rod power in between and at a similar price point as the new Curado reel and really get BFS noticed here in the US. Maybe something is in the works?

Hah, same boat here.  I was looking at the SLX BFS as I would like something to use instead of my Pixies in brackish rivers.  

An SLX BFS? Do you have a link? That's the first I've heard of the SLX BFS, like I just found out today of a Curado BFS.

There's not a need for greater line cap which adds more weight. Nobody's bombing a trout magnet or a 2 gram crank bait 150 ft.

The video mentioned a 9 gram spool, which seems to be new information as far as I can tell. 

I'm trying to make sense of the 40.00 price difference with the 70 MGL. It also seems identical to the Scorpion BFS and it goes for around 250.00.

The scorpion BFS has a more ported spool and weighs a little less over all.  The spool on the Curado BFS looks to be the same as the SLX BFS.

Fine by me, now if the rod manufacturers would offer BFS and trout rods to the US market then we will be golden.  We do have options, but they are still very few.  I'm hoping Daiwa follows suit and puts a BFS reel on US shelves.

I've caught 20"+ brown trout on BFS and them guys run like the devil.  I have yet to be spooled.  

   I wonder how well this will work with braid. Some shallow  spools excel with braid, some hate it. I guess there's only one way to find out ........  ???  $$$         jj

Some prefer to use hi-vis braid for finesse which easier to watch line movement. Traditional baitcaster doesnt like less than 30lb braid and 30lb braid doesn’t work well with let’s say weightless worm. Now this shallow spool type reel should offer the benefit of using tiny 8-10lb hi-vis braid and also a lot easier to cast light weight bass type lure.
I like the feel of Nanofil on my spinning when finesse fishing especially Neko rig/shakey head but no way I can use 8lb Nanofil on my baitcaster. Shallow spool help me achieve that, is it BFS? I would say NO but I adapt the technology to improve my fishing style.

Nanofil, it is so light, doesn’t absorb water and cut thru water very well. You won’t feel the unnecessary resistance and weight from the line, instead you feel a lot of lure movement.

Have you ordered that MGL spool? If not I think you’d better off with this reel. Cheaper than scorpion bfs with full warranty. My friend already pre-order and I’m so tempted.

That might also be wrong. It should say Japanese mono 6lb/50yds not typically US line using diameter of 8lb line but advertised as 6lb.

All the spec of this reel are close to that scorpion bfs, even though spool seem to be different but rate  the same at 9 grams.

I’ll probably get one. Looks like a cool concept.  I was thinking about another spinning setup anyways.  That can wait.

The more I use my stock Scorp 70 the happier I am with it. Decided against MGL spool. I've got other reels for lighter stuff. I did order a cast control cap and drag star from a Scorp BFS from PLAT, though. I don't understand Shimano's thinking when it comes to cosmetics. That bronzy cap and star look awful on a black reel. Guess I'm a bit OCD about silly things.
