  1. Make that big of a difference from a straight handle casting reel? I know Daiwa started the trend years ago, and other mfg's followed. I know it looks cool and all and does give a baitcast reel a modern look, but is it really all that functional from a straight handle?
  2. All my reels are for left handed reeling. A few years ago, I bought and tried a right handed BPS Crappie bait cast reel. I tried to get used to reeling with my right hand, I just could not get the hang of it. Also, trying the work a lure with my left arm felt so weird. I'm a left handed reeler through and through . I returned it, a right handed reel wasn't for me. I know some of you guys are ambidextrous , at times I wish I was, so I could own some bait cast reels that are only in a right hand configuration . You guys ever tried switching when you are dominant in one way of reeling, casting and working a lure?
  3. I wanted the Calcutta Stogie way back then, but it was not available in left hand. that was a cool and unique reel, color ways at the time.
  4. I like that Lews are lighter in weight, but not sure which model for 6" Hudds, S-Waver 168 and 3/4-3 oz swimbaits.
  5. I don't hear too many Shimano JDM casting reels on this thread.
  6. My favorite is the Curado 51E. I've had Shimano reels starting from the Curado 201B SF up to the Curado 71HG. I tend to stay in the mid range Shimano's, as much as I'd like to get the higher end, higher priced Shimano's, well the mid price range Shimano's have been great. What's your favorite Shimano model(s)?
  7. I like the concept of the Livetarget lures. I am thinking of buying the yearling jerkbait and walking bait. You guys tried these baits, what are your thoughts? besides the looks of the lures, do they have good actions in the water?
  8. I guess the newer generation of Revo's, I just can't get used to or understand. I tried out a Revo S a year or so ago. I had the older Revo S in gray paint job and the gear not quite as noticeable when holding the reel. The white Revo S I bought, I could not get used to it. The gear just stuck out way too much that it actually was uncomfortable to palm. And why does Abu Garcia install short handles on their casting reels? Current reels from other mfg's have longer handles. If you want a longer handle, you have to buy it as an option for either $30 or $50. I so want to like Abu reels, I just can't seem to. I like the older models prior to going with the huge gear.
  9. No big deal. got 3 blems for $20 a couple years ago at a local fishing store. works, caught bass.
  10. Berkley Amp casting rod, $30. I have the 7' MH.
  11. Lemons. I was surprised when I got 2 different curado 71 HG with problems. finally have one....so far seems perfect.
  12. I was at BPS and the Pro Sizzle Jr and Dive Master Jr were on sale, there were one of each left, I bought them cuz I have been curious of Livingston lures. I don't know if the electronic sound is suppose to be loud on these lures, but the ones I bought, the sound was low. I think the battery in them was getting weak sitting on the shelf, probably reason they were on sale. it was cool when I put them in water they made a clacking sound. But I was not impressed, the more I thought about it, when the battery dies, it's just like any other lure on the market and you can't change out the battery. So I am returning the 2 lures I bought, also the sale price wasn't all that significant . What are your thoughts of Livingston lures and the electronic sound it has? are they worth the asking price and after a year or so of use, you have just a regular lure?
  13. Carbonlite casting reel is light weight. it's right there in weight with the higher end Shimanos, Daiwas, and Lews. I have the left hand version and it has been a very good, reliable reel. I bought my during the reel trade a couple years ago and at $90 that's a great deal. the dual braking works great too, just like on a Lews dual braking casting reels. Where else are going to find a casting reel with a carbon fiber handle for less than $100 brand new?
  14. Original, it comes in a black/gray color and doesn't fade as quickly.
  15. If 30 lb Fireside has similar diameter to 17 lb mono, I won't be able to spool that much of that line on a bait cast reel. also Fireline is stiffer than Power Pro so that bigger diameter would not cast well with lures 1/4 Oz and up.
  16. Ah, I forgot it's a fused line. That's interesting that the diameter is closer to 17 lb mono, way too thick. What is the 20 lb Fireline diameter in mono?
  17. I guess I'm a bit confused, it's 30 lb braid but has a 12 lb mono diameter? Isn't 30 lb braid equivalent to 8 lb mono? How is this line on a baitcaster? Is it stiff? Does it cast good like Power Pro 30 lb on a baitcast reel? What I like is it's the only line that comes in a black/gray color as opposed to moss green. From what I can tell, I have 6 lb Fireline on a light spinning reel, the color holds better than Power Pro braid. I've not tried Fireline on a baitcast reel. Should I drop down to 20/8, if I am looking for an 8 lb diameter braided line in this brand?
  18. Got the Party Crasher and looking to get the lite or natural trout.
  19. Oops, sorry my mistake. I didn't know there was another Casitas reel.
  20. The difference in price from those 2 reels is like $80. I have the Casitas and it's really a nice reel for the price. look on the auction site, you can get that reel for less than retail.
  21. Nice Bruddah! I still have to catch a bass on my WP.
  22. I have a couple LC Sammys and knockoffs. I have to start using those again.
  23. What type of line do you use when you fish swimbaits? I want to stick with 20 lb for mono, copoly or fluoro and 65 lb braid. I'm not sure which line to use. What are you using and poundage?
